Yege finally moved.
"stop!"
The shark-man chieftain immediately stopped his men's violent behavior and looked at Rita hesitantly, saying, "Sausage, delicious, very delicious."
Rita smiled and asked, "How delicious is it?"
"After I was born, sausage was the most delicious food."
Yag's wistful expression made Rita smile smugly.
Pulling a piece of sausage stuck between his teeth, Yege carefully put it in his mouth, closed his eyes, and savored it for a while before asking, "Sausage, how about a trade?"
Rita raised her fair and slender hand and waved behind her.
Soon, four mermaid warrior women laboriously carried a large stone box and slowly swam to the shark man, placing it on the open ground in front of Yego.
Yege lifted the heavy lid of the stone box with one hand, revealing it filled with seafood sausages, which made him unconsciously swallow.
“There are two hundred large seafood sausages here.” Rita twirled the trident in her hand and said in a kind voice, “Please accept them; they are a gift for our neighbors.”
Yego squinted at Rita and asked in a deep voice, "A gift? A mermaid, what do you want?"
Rita shook her head: "We are neighbors, not enemies. These represent friendship and do not require any repayment from you."
“Mermaids? We don’t trust them,” Yege said through gritted teeth. “We won’t be fooled! We don’t want the gifts! We’ll trade!”
Rita scoffed, "Exchange? Can you afford to exchange?"
"We have fish in our warehouse!"
“Alright, let’s do the math! At the market in Muxi City, one kilogram of fresh fish is worth 5 copper stars, so I’ll say one fish is worth 20 copper stars. A large seafood sausage is worth 90 copper stars. There are 200 sausages in the box, worth copper stars, which is equivalent to 900 fish!”
As Rita spoke, she extended her hand toward Yego and said slowly, "If you don't believe me, you can go to Waiting River Island and find any merchant from Twilight City to ask me if this account is correct?"
"900 fish?"
Yege stood frozen in place, his fins trembling slightly, and whispered, "We, the fish, are not enough."
Rita's face showed a "I knew it" expression: "Yeg, think about it yourself, your people are starving, and your food can only last for a week at most."
After a moment of silence and some struggle, Yege gritted his teeth and growled in a low voice, "I want the gift!"
Rita clapped her hands and laughed, "That's right."
Watching the shark people carry the stone box away, Rita said to Yego, "Now that you've accepted the gift, I'd like to invite you to visit my tribe. Would you agree?"
Faced with the mermaid's invitation, Yege stopped his tribesmen from dissuading him and looked at Rita, saying, "Let's go."
