Faced with the chaos in the tent, the knight went to Cumberland's side and recounted to him the events of the killing of prisoners at the front.
Cumberland listened while shaking his head helplessly.
After listening, he turned to his subordinate and said, "I understand, you may leave."
Cumberland slowly sat down in front of the seat at the top of the tent, his deeply lined face showing signs of fatigue.
At that very moment, the orc shaman roared and suggested, "We should march forward! Instead of waiting here like idiots!"
The elven shaman scoffed, "Advance? Where to? There are probably enemy troops everywhere ahead."
The orc shaman opened his mouth, and the pungent breath emanating from it caused the elf shaman to stumble back a few steps with his eyes closed.
"Unlike you cowards! Every one of my people is the bravest warrior! We are willing to charge to the front lines, just to realize the glory of the Dragon God!"
The elven shaman waved his sleeve and said disdainfully, "Use your brain! And shut your mouth!"
The orc shaman rolled up his sleeves and rushed up to the elf shaman: "What did you say?!"
"Enough!"
Cumberland stood up from his chair and roared.
"In the name of the Supreme Commander of the Kingdom's Expeditionary Force, I hereby order: No one shall take any rash action before the enemy's deployment has been ascertained!"
Looking at the expressions on the faces of those in the tent, Cumberland added, "If you have any complaints, you can appeal to the head shaman—Ms. Minnie! If you are still dissatisfied, you can complain to your dragon god!"
"Meeting adjourned!"
After most of the people in the camp had dispersed, Ackerman walked up to Cumberland and said apologetically in a low voice, "My lord, please forgive me. I couldn't say a word at all during the shamanic gathering."
Cumberland nodded. "I understand. I don't blame you. When is Ms. Minnie coming back?"
"It will probably take another three days."
Ackerman sighed: "Then, it's not a solution for us to just keep waiting here."
Cumberland walked to the war map, looked at the vast forest in front of him, and said to Ackerman, "I've heard that most of your scouts have night vision, eagle eyes, and X-ray vision."
Ackerman explained, “The werewolf scouts have night vision and hearing, the lizardman scouts have heat sensing and mimicry, and the harpy scouts have eagle eyes and X-ray vision. Equipped with dragonbone armor, they can share intelligence with each other through a honeycomb neural network.”
"Under normal circumstances, a scout team will consist of three people to deal with different battle situations."
Cumberland placed his hands on the edge of the sand table: "I need scout teams like these, the more the better, so that after nightfall they can start exploring from the edge of the forest and find out everything there."
Ackerman said somewhat uncertainly, "You mean, to find out the defenses in the forest bit by bit? That would consume a huge amount of manpower and time..."
"At the moment, this clumsy method is the only one that can work. At least it's better than blindly rushing in like a blind man."
After a moment of contemplation, Ackerman said to Cumberland, "I understand. I will now instruct the reconnaissance team to begin carrying out reconnaissance missions in different areas."
After Ackerman left the tent, Randall, who had been waiting in the corner, walked up to Cumberland and said, "Sir, if possible, we would also like to join your reconnaissance mission."
"You?" Cumberland looked at the six people in front of him with suspicion: "You are not soldiers, you have not undergone special training, going to the battlefield is tantamount to sending yourselves to your deaths."
Before Randall could speak, Barbara protested, "Randall participated in the defense of Twilight City seven years ago and almost died in Lone Rock City."
Cumberland said slowly, "Now that you mention it, I vaguely remember it."
“Lord Cumberland, in my ranks there is a werewolf and a lizardman, both of whom are experts in reconnaissance. The two of us can form a scout team to assist the army in reconnaissance.”
Barbara realized, "Wait, you mean I can't go with you?"
Cumberland showed an expression of approval: "This arrangement is more reasonable. I will assign reconnaissance tasks to the three of you. As for the rest of you, stay in the camp and wait for news."
Randall gave a military salute and nodded gratefully.
"You can ask Ackerman for the weapons, supplies, dragon bones, and mission details. Now, go down."
After bidding farewell to Cumberland, Randall, accompanied by his companions, rushed to the Crusader camp.
Enduring the strange looks along the way, Barbara complained, "Why won't you let me come with you? I could help."
Randall smiled but did not answer.
Randall found Ackerman, who was busy holding a war meeting, in the Crusader's camp and explained his purpose.
"You want to assist with the reconnaissance mission, which is great news for me." Ackerman, who was overwhelmed with work, said with a distress, "The forest in front of us is as vast as the sea, and I don't have nearly enough soldiers available for scout missions."
Aldenan glanced at the Crusader commanders attending the war council and asked curiously, "Why aren't the harpies here? They have eagle eyes and X-ray vision, and they can fly. They should be the best candidates."
Ackerman said, "Just a week ago, the harpy species approached the forest and were met with a fierce gun attack from the enemy, resulting in considerable casualties. Therefore, they had to be removed from the mission."
