In the empty darkness, the sound of water droplets falling on the stone slab echoed endlessly.
Karin, her body wrapped in bandages, lay on the cold stone bed, every inch of her skin feeling as if it were being scorched by flames.
"water……"
With all her might, Karin managed to squeeze out a single word.
After a long wait, just when she thought the world had abandoned her, a cool, sweet spring touched her lips and tongue.
Opening her dry, cracked lips, Karin greedily swallowed the water, feeling the life force return to her body.
After catching her breath, Karin, who had been unconscious for an unknown amount of time, tried to open her eyes to see where she was.
After several attempts, she was horrified to discover that it was all in vain, and all she could see was darkness.
Karin reached up to touch her face, the heavy bandages startling her: "My eyes! What happened to my eyes?! I can't see anything!"
No one answered her.
Struggling to get up from the stone bed, Karin was about to get down when her weak body caused her to stumble and fall to the ground.
A pair of strong, powerful hands lifted Karin up, as if holding a priceless treasure, and carefully placed her back on the stone bed.
Fear, unease, and anger caused Karin to cough violently and shout, "Who are you?! Let me go! Let me go!"
No one answered her.
Karin huddled in a corner of the stone bed, her hands groping around, trying to grab anything she could use for self-defense.
Suddenly, she remembered the Soul Space.
But to her surprise, no matter how she called out to the soul space, the only response she received was deathly silence.
Ten minutes have passed.
After struggling for a while, Karin gradually despaired.
She leaned back against the wall beside the stone bed, sat there blankly, and asked, "Where is this?"
No one answered.
What do you want to do to me?
No one answered.
...
Karin hugged her knees, buried her head, and began to sob softly.
The owner of those large hands, seeing Karin crying, was somewhat at a loss and made some strange noises.
Finally, he left.
Alone, Karin sat on the cold stone bed and cried even louder.
Half an hour later, to Karin's surprise, the strange person returned.
As the footsteps grew closer, Karin, who was blind, stopped crying in fright and kept backing away.
Something was presented to Karin.
The aroma that wafts towards you is a blend of grilled meat and spices.
Karin swallowed hard, then stubbornly turned her head away.
The strange man brought the food closer, uttering some unintelligible syllables.
Karin swiftly reached out and grabbed the roasted meat wrapped in oil paper, ignoring the heat emanating from the paper and the grease clinging to it, and stuffed the meat into her mouth like a hungry wolf.
Seeing that Karin was finally willing to eat, the weirdo happily made a strange "hoho" sound.
Turning her head toward the source of the sound, Karin yelled, "Shut up!"
The strange man quickly covered his mouth with his hand, obediently turned around, and dared not look at Karin again.
Outside the room, from beginning to end, stood a withered old man.
He remained silent and motionless, simply watching everything unfold.
The Imperial Capital, Baghdad University, Truth Hall.
"I don't understand, how could there be an invisible force pulling everything downwards? Where does this force come from? And how is it formed?"
An Imperial student dressed in white and wearing a headscarf stood on the podium holding a book titled "Introduction to Gravity," and shook his head, saying, "This scholar from Muxi City's ideas are far too far-fetched. I only see assumptions and inferences throughout the book, but there is no evidence to back it up."
Another student in the audience stood up and retorted, "The discovery of any truth begins with assumptions and inferences. To dismiss this book on such grounds is far too arbitrary."
The next student continued, "Take the famous example from the book: stones and iron blocks of the same size but different weights, when dropped vertically from a height, will always land at the same time, no matter when or where. Therefore, objects of different weights and materials fall at the same speed in the air, which proves that there is a single, enormous force pulling all objects toward the ground from within the earth."
"Absurd!" the first student retorted. "Let me give you a counterexample. If you drop a crumpled piece of paper and a block of iron of the same size at the same time, the iron block will definitely land first. How do you explain that?"
Listening to the students in the Hall of Truth arguing endlessly about the theories in the book, the Caliph Saladin, sitting in the guest seat, showed no anger whatsoever, but instead nodded frequently.
The Caliph's captain of the guard, Ilam, frowned and leaned closer to Saladin, whispering, "These students are too noisy. It's not good for your health. Should I tell them to be quieter?"
Saladin shook his head and said, "You don't understand. The voice of truth should not be silenced, should not be yielded, and should not be compromised."
Ilem scratched his head, looking puzzled.
Saladin looked at his captain of the guard and said with a smile, "Don't worry about my health."
Ilem glanced furtively at the emperor, whose increasingly thin body and bloodless face made him lower his head and sigh inwardly.
