Todd was somewhat bewildered: "You mean, my entry into this world wasn't accidental?"
"If your reasoning is correct," Rachel said. "then your existence in this world cannot be a coincidence."
Todd closed his eyes and said as he recalled, "My last memory of my past life was an accidental death, which I always thought was a coincidence. But if it was Crystal's intention to bring me into this world as an experimental subject, then this is simply too far-fetched. What I mean is, why me? I'm just an ordinary person, nothing special."
“That’s how you see yourself, but that doesn’t mean others see you that way,” Rachel said with a smile. “But as you said, it’s all speculation. In a sense, Crystal is the creator of this world, and we can only speculate about his thoughts and purposes.”
Todd sighed: "Perhaps the experiments and observations I just mentioned were just my conjecture, all just my wild imagination."
After thinking for a moment, Rachel continued, "Actually, you don't need to rush to deny your guess. According to the historical materials I've compiled in the library, there's a lot of evidence that corroborates your guess. Putting everything else aside, if we assume that everything is really as you say, that Crystal Star doesn't care about the outcome of the Gods' Chosen War or who the winner is, and that he's just conducting an experiment, then what should we do?"
Todd took a sip of his cola, feeling the coolness in his mouth, and slowly said, "First, we must win the War of the Chosen. If an ambitious person or a madman wins and becomes a god, the whole world will only enter another vicious cycle and eventually perish."
Ritchie agreed.
"Secondly, after obtaining the power of the gods, we must cooperate with the pioneers to create a world with a racial control mechanism. For example, a balance of fate, a measure of good and evil, a heaven of souls, etc., to use a perfect management system to minimize the possibility of the end of the world. These are also the directions I am working towards."
Rachel nodded and said, "A world with a control mechanism can restrain the behavior of individuals of a race, thus delaying the arrival of the apocalypse to the greatest extent. However, there is one last problem: what can we do if the Crystal Host actively triggers the apocalypse?"
Todd pondered, "I think there are two prerequisites for Crystal's doomsday: one is that someone attacks the beacon tower, and the other is that he is tired of this world and decides to reset everything."
"The former is easy to solve, as long as the beacon tower is not destroyed; but the latter... requires understanding what the ultimate goal of the Crystal Star experiment is."
"Only by understanding Crystal's ultimate goal can we negotiate with him, reach a consensus, and continue the world."
Rachel smoothed her hair. "I've spent most of these past few years in the library. Let me tell you some things I've found out. According to the three conditions that Crystal Star initiated the War of the Chosen, the chosen god, according to historical records, whether it was Odin in the Age of Gods, the Celestials in the Age of Two Worlds, or the Venerable Master in the Age of the Sun, all these gods cared about was the expansion of power, territory, and followers. No god was ever wise enough to think about the continuation of the race and the maintenance of the world."
"Odin was pleasure-seeking, lazy, and over-exploited resources, ignoring the warnings of the Crystal Constellation, which ultimately led to Ragnarok; the Celestials were arrogant and reckless, expanding their territory and using bloody suppression to enslave other races, which eventually led to an attack by the other races, forcing them to use doomsday weapons and usher in a world-ending war; the Venerable Master used spiritual power and religious pressure to control the Sun Empire for more than 2,700 years, but ultimately, due to fear and greed, he kept seizing spiritual power and ended up going mad."
Rachel said softly, "Todd, did you see that? These gods chosen by the Crystal Constellation possess boundless power. At first, they may have been loyal to others, but over time, they inevitably began to become selfish, greedy, and tyrannical."
Todd closed his eyes: "Crystal has not chosen a savior."
Rachel shook her head vigorously and said in a low voice, "Todd, you don't understand what I mean."
Seeing the puzzled look on the other person's face, Rachel remained silent for a long time before finally looking into Todd's eyes and slowly asking, "Todd, do you really believe in something like the Eternal Empire?"
Todd didn't react for a moment: "What?"
“Todd, I understand your thinking. Neither monarchy nor democracy can guarantee the smooth continuation of a nation. So, you found pioneers and cooperated with them to design a system for the entire world that can operate permanently and without errors. But is it really that simple?”
Todd said helplessly, "Ratchet, just say what you're thinking. Don't worry about my feelings."
Rachel gritted her teeth and said, "In my opinion, nothing is permanent. Even truth will dry up and fade with time."
“I agree that you don’t trust the king and that a person loses their original intentions as they grow older; I also agree that you don’t trust the people and that they are easily misled and ruin their futures. But won’t it cause problems if you place your hopes on the forerunners and the laws of heaven?”
"You once told me that Leviathan openly defied the orders of the Crystal Star in order to protect the marine races. So, in the future, will he change or alter the laws of heaven that you and the Forerunners established in order to protect his own children?"
