Chapter 706 Setting Sail

The shipyard north of Xicheng at dusk.

In the vast underground shipyard, the alien warships were undergoing their final functional adjustments in preparation for departure.

The keel planks are densely packed together, ensuring that there are no gaps in the middle.

Tesla parasites were stored in insulated pipes, meticulously arranged, and then installed into the keel deck.

With the help of pulleys and a crane, the massive keel electromagnetic gun was slowly hoisted onto the top of the ship, and maintenance personnel inspected every part of the weapon one by one.

Standing beneath the massive bow, Rachel looked up at the warship and asked Aisha beside her, "At full speed, how long will it take to reach the Supuha Mountains?"

Aisha, the captain of the warship, casually signed the notepad her assistant handed her and said, "If all goes well, ten days."

Rachel nodded, then turned to Aisha: "You should know how dangerous this journey is."

Aisha said nonchalantly, "Every voyage is never calm."

Rachel: "You can stay in Twilight City; there are many captains who can take your place on this mission."

Aisha: "No one but me can touch this ship."

Rachel: "Your decision has nothing to do with His Majesty the King?"

Aisha glared at Rachel and said in a deep voice, "It has nothing to do with him."

Rachel smiled and turned around: "When can we set off?"

Aisha: "All equipment is debugged and weapons are calibrated. We can set off in four hours."

Rachel nodded and waved behind her: "I'll go tell the passengers to prepare to board."

Aisha was taken aback: "Passengers? What passengers?"

A group of people dressed in civilian clothes, escorted by knights, entered the dock and slowly gathered around the warship.

Aisha's eyes widened: "Who are these people? I've never heard of such an arrangement!"

Rachel: "These people are all different species; they volunteered to participate in this rescue operation."

Aisha turned around and said to Rachel in a deep voice, "These people are civilians, they have no ability to protect themselves at all. You plan to take this group of people to the south? You are sending them to their deaths!"

Rachel: "Most of them came from the south and were the guides for this rescue operation... Moreover, in terms of self-defense capabilities, their fighting ability was in no way inferior to those knights."

Rachel snapped her fingers, and the man at the head of the group bowed to her.

The man spread his arms, and the surrounding space immediately distorted and changed. A spherical space with a diameter of about four meters centered on him was formed. All the objects around him, including the wooden box, the ground, and even the smoke and dust, were forcibly "cut" off from their original positions and disappeared in an instant.

Just as Aisha was staring in disbelief, Rachel said to her, "The more powerful mutants like him there are, the greater His Majesty's chances of being saved. Don't you think so?"

Aisha looked at the crowd and spotted several children. She hesitated and said, "Are there children among them?"

Rachel stepped forward, blocking Aisha's view: "The power of the aliens has nothing to do with age or gender. The more harmless an individual seems, the more terrifying their abilities are... Moreover, these people's participation in the rescue operation has already been recognized by the Council and the Valkyries. Are there any other problems?"

Aisha waved her hand: "Suit yourself, as long as these people don't interfere with navigation and rescue. They can board the ship once all the equipment is debugged, but I want to make it clear beforehand that they can only move around in the third deck area and cargo hold area!"

Rachel nodded, indicating that she understood.

As the two were talking, the cry of a griffin drifted into the cave.

The six Valkyries, each leading their own griffin, slowly walked into the dock and stopped in front of everyone.

Aisha frowned at the griffin and asked, "Are you really going to bring these hairy beasts onto my ship? Can't they stay in the city?"

Amidst the griffin's angry shrieks, the Valkyrie leader, Evie, stepped forward and said, "Mounts are like swords, shields, and bows; they are part of our bodies, and they must be on board."

Aisha rolled her eyes: "Then bring these beasts along, as long as you're responsible for cleaning and don't make my ship stink."

Aisha glanced around at the people around her and muttered to herself, "There are more people than I expected. The ship isn't very spacious to begin with, I hope there aren't any more..."

Before he could finish speaking, a series of hurried footsteps approached the dock.

A group of scholars and assistants dressed in white research coats, escorted by Crusader soldiers, rushed into the dock.

"I did it! I did it!"

The person at the very front of the group was thin with pale skin, but his face was flushed and he was extremely excited.

Aisha stared at the man's face, shook her head and said, "Wayne Dunlop, don't tell me you also want to board a ship to the south."

Wayne shouted, "I didn't come here to board the ship! I've created the antidote!"

Aisha: "Antidote? What antidote?"

Rachel walked up to Wayne: "You mean the antidote for the necromantic plague?"

Wayne nodded as he said, "Some time ago, someone placed a mysterious box at the entrance of the research institute. We opened it and found some strange biological organs inside. However, there was a sentence written on the box in ancient Thai script: 'Live towards death.'"

Rachel was taken aback: "Living towards death?"

Wayne: "Yes, I immediately deduced that this thing must have come from the Elder Council. I thought about it again, and His Majesty is currently searching for the antidote for the undead in the Elder Council, so this thing is very likely the key to extracting the antidote."
