Chapter 716 Arrival

Wielding her spear, Evie pushed aside the writhing parasites in front of her, lunged forward, and came to Hyatt's side.

Holding the sword in a reverse grip, Evie flicked her elbow, severing the undead parasites on Hyatt's body.

While using her weapon to fend off the undead's attacks, Ivy yelled at Hyatt through the Hive, "Use your powers! Get back to the ship!"

Hyatt regained control of his body in the sea and said to Ivy, "We can't go back yet, there's still a third propeller to clear!"

Evie: "I'm telling you to get back on the ship yourself! I'll handle the propeller issue!"

Hyatt paused, then pulled out a dagger and swam frantically towards the surface of the sea, saying as he swam, "I won't go back until the mission is complete."

Looking back at Hyatt, which was swimming further and further away, Ivy shook her head slightly and began to focus all her attention on the huge whale in front of her, which was infected by the undead.

This whale is over thirty meters long and its entire body is covered with countless wriggling black parasites. From a distance, it looks like a giant parasite nest moving in the sea.

Evie dodged dozens of parasitic limbs that reached out to her, and with a powerful push of her feet, she slid down more than ten meters towards the seabed, gradually getting closer to the undead whale's main body.

Using the momentum of her descent and the strength of her body, Evie aimed at the whale's head and thrust the spear with all her might.

The spear was like a piercing piece of hard rubber; it only went in a few centimeters before it could go no further.

The whale straightened up, swung its tail, and slammed its massive body into Evie.

Evie adjusted her posture, bent her legs, and stepped onto the whale's skin, using the momentum to dodge the attack.

Just then, dozens of marine undead rushed past Ivy and headed straight for Hyatt.

"Oh no."

Realizing something was wrong, Evie turned and swam towards the surface of the sea. Before she could swim a few meters, dozens of parasitic limbs emerged from the whale and wrapped around her legs.

Due to a moment of carelessness, Evie became trapped and was entangled by parasites, dragged downwards, and rapidly sank towards the direction of the undead whale.

The undead whale opened its mouth, and within its gaping maw, like the gates of hell, countless undead parasites wriggled, awaiting the arrival of flesh and blood.

Ivy kept cutting off the parasites on her leg with her sword, but as soon as she cut off one, several more would wrap around her.

Ultimately, Evie was dragged directly into the whale's gaping maw by the parasite.

The instant she was swallowed by the giant jaws, Ivy held her spear upright, bracing it against the whale's upper and lower jaws to barely support her body. She saw more and more parasites crawling onto the dragon bone armor, and all she could hear was the crunching sound of the dragon bone being gnawed and bitten.

With difficulty, Evie pulled out the undiluted vaccine serum that Rachel had given her before her departure. She crushed the glass cap, threw it forcefully into the whale's mouth, and roared, "Damn freak! Go back to your underworld!"

The vaccine concentrate churned and fell into the belly of the undead whale.

Seconds later, a deafening roar that seemed to shatter the clouds and split rocks came from the whale's belly.

Tens of thousands of parasitic limbs first struggled frantically, but then, like rice stalks wilted by frost, they all slumped down, unable to move anymore.

Half a minute later, the entire body of the undead whale began to rot, decompose, and collapse at a visible speed, eventually turning into a pile of debris that slowly sank to the bottom of the sea.

Before Evie, who had just survived the ordeal, could even catch her breath, she suddenly remembered Hyatt above her head.

With a turn, Ivy swam towards the surface of the sea at top speed, using both her hands and feet.

Before she even got close to the stern, a large patch of bright red filled the seawater above her, a sight that made Ivy's ominous premonition grow stronger.

After killing dozens of undead with a spear and sword, Evie finally found Hyatt at the location of the third propeller.

Hyatt was no longer alive; his dragonbone armor was shattered, and the deep, bone-revealing wounds were particularly glaring in the seawater.

Beside him, the third entangled propeller had been completely cleared away.

Until his last breath, Hyatt gripped the dagger tightly, ignoring the attacks of the undead and desperately trying to complete his mission.

Hyatt had the opportunity to return to the ship, but he gave up his chance to survive, leaving the hope to others...

Evie stared at Hyatt's body, standing motionless in the seawater for a long time, until Aisha's voice came from the hive asking her questions.

Carrying Hyatt's body on her back, Evie felt her way along the ship's edge and returned to the ship through a side entrance.

Accompanied by the sound of propellers cutting through the seawater, the warship set sail once again.

Under the watchful eyes of the crew and the aliens, Evie knelt on one knee on the deck and carefully lowered Hyatt down.

Selma rushed over and threw herself on her father, her heart-wrenching cries filling Evie with an indescribable bitterness.

The aliens gathered around Hyatt, removed his dragon bones, changed his clothes, stitched up his wounds, and tidied his remains.

Rachel walked to Evie's side, looked at her face filled with self-reproach, and said softly, "It was a heroic death, and Hyatt will not regret his decision."

As Ivy watched the aliens wrap Hyatt's body in burlap and then seal it away with their freezing powers, she slowly said, "In my original beliefs, dying on the battlefield is the highest honor a warrior should receive. However, Todd once told me that one should not pursue death for meaningless struggles, and that the meaning of life is not destruction, but protection."
