On his way to work the next day, Clemens drove while reflecting on his discovery from the previous day.
The three black towers form an inverted equilateral triangle on the map, and the Groom Lake military base in Nevada happens to be located at the center of the inverted equilateral triangle.
What does this discovery mean?
Could it be that high-ranking officials, or even the military, are involved...?
However, on the other hand... it's also possible that the events at Area 51 were just a coincidence.
After all, no one would believe that Area 51 harbors a dark secret based solely on a few reports and some videos from the internet.
Clemens, who had been thinking this way, stopped his car at a red light, and suddenly a sentence popped into his head: "The simpler the answer, the closer it is to the truth."
"Daddy, can I play with Aunt Liz today?"
Clemens, whose thoughts were interrupted, turned to look at his daughter in the back seat and said with a smile, "Of course, provided you don't disturb her work."
Alice nodded.
After parking the car, Clemens led Alice into the lobby of the workplace.
Unlike usual, the hall was unusually quiet today. Everyone walked with their heads down, busy with their own things, and seemed to avoid even eye contact.
Clemens walked to the front desk and asked, "Do you have any mail for me?"
The receptionist looked at Clemens, her face pale. She opened her mouth as if to say something, but ultimately shook her head in silence.
Clemens glanced at the other person, feeling a little strange, but didn't think much of it.
Walk through the lobby, take the elevator, and head to your office.
Along the way, Clemens felt that his colleagues were secretly watching him, as if he were a lion that had just escaped from the zoo.
Filled with doubt, Clemens opened the door to his office, only to be chilled to the bone by what he saw.
A group of soldiers in military uniforms burst into his office, searching everywhere. The floor was a mess, with documents scattered all over the place.
Even his office computer was forcibly opened by a soldier who cracked the password and was looking through the files inside.
"What are you doing?!" Clemens exclaimed, his face flushed with anger. "This is my office!"
"Professor Scott."
A cold, eerie voice came from the window.
A middle-aged soldier stood at the window, his hands behind his back, watching the endless stream of vehicles outside. He said, "We have some questions for you."
Clemens shielded Alice behind him and roared, "You have no right to do this! Get out of my office! Or I'll report you to my superiors!"
The middle-aged soldier turned around, his thin figure and hawk-like eyes sending a chill down Clemens' spine for no reason.
"Your next answer will determine whether you are arrested... By the way, your superiors, and your superiors' superiors, will all be interrogated."
Clemens froze, stunned by the other person's words, and exclaimed in disbelief, "What did you say? Who are you?!"
The middle-aged soldier said slowly, "Now only I can ask questions, please remember that."
"First, did you receive a letter from Norway yesterday?"
Clemens's hand trembled slightly: "I don't know what you're talking about!"
The middle-aged soldier who had been observing Clemens smiled slightly and calmly asked, "Is that letter in your briefcase right now?"
Clemens instinctively gripped his briefcase with his arm, his face ashen, and remained silent.
The middle-aged soldier gave a signal, and soon two soldiers snatched the briefcase from Clemens's hands.
After searching for a while, the letter from the Russian geographer was handed to the middle-aged soldier.
Just then, Liz appeared at the office door.
With a scream, Liz yelled at the soldiers inside the room, "What are you doing! I'm calling the police!"
Ignoring the woman's threats, the middle-aged soldier carefully examined the envelope, scrutinizing every line of text and every annotation on the photograph.
Clemens pulled Liz to his side and shook his head to signal her not to speak.
The soldier who was checking the computer suddenly said, "Sir, you should take a look at this."
The middle-aged soldier walked to the computer, saw a large amount of information about the "Black Tower" on the screen, sat down, and began to examine it very carefully.
Liz tugged at Clemens's sleeve and mouthed, "What's going on?"
Clemens mouthed, "Don't say anything."
After repeatedly checking the computer data and the envelope from Norway, the middle-aged soldier turned his attention back to Clemens: "Professor, is this all the research material you have on those black towers?"
Clemens nodded expressionlessly.
The middle-aged soldier stared into Clemens' eyes and suddenly said to the soldier next to him, "Check his phone."
After his resistance proved futile, Clemens's cell phone was confiscated, and the soldiers began examining the documents inside.
Despite his outward appearance of fury, Clemens was secretly relieved.
Fortunately, the research materials from last night were left at home and I didn't bring them with me, otherwise it might have caused even more trouble.
After repeatedly checking the phone, the middle-aged soldier finally confirmed that Clemens only had these materials on hand and no more information.
He gestured, and all the soldiers began to pack up and remove all materials related to the Black Tower. Data stored in electronic devices was permanently deleted.
The middle-aged soldier walked up to Clemens, handing him the phone as he said in a chilling voice, "Professor, you're lucky this time. Remember, don't pry into things you shouldn't know. We'll be watching you..."
Clemens finally breathed a sigh of relief when he took the phone and saw the soldiers beginning to evacuate.
Just as the middle-aged soldier stepped out of the office, a young girl's voice suddenly rang out: "Are you also looking for a heart?"
The middle-aged soldier stopped and turned to look at Alice, who had spoken, and asked softly, "Heart?"
Clemens's expression changed drastically, and he quickly tried to reach out and cover Alice's mouth.
The quick-thinking soldier grabbed Clemens and pulled him away.
The middle-aged soldier crouched down and said to Alice in his kindest voice, "Child, let me guess, you probably don't know what a heart is."
“I know! It’s over at Lake Groom!”
The middle-aged soldier's pupils dilated violently, and he straightened up, his whole body tense like a leopard before a hunt.
Raising his head to look at Clemens, whose face was ashen, the middle-aged soldier slowly smiled, but his voice was icy cold, sending chills down one's spine: "Take everyone in this room away."
The soldiers exchanged glances, and one of them mustered his courage to ask, "Sir, what about this girl...?"
The middle-aged soldier turned around and said, "I said it, everyone!"
