On the city wall, Randall and Carol, back to back, were fighting the undead, completely unaware that the number of Crusader soldiers around them was dwindling.
With a single axe stroke, Carroll cleaved a necromancer in two from top to bottom, and suddenly laughed.
Randall, who was focused on killing the enemy, heard laughter behind him and asked in confusion, "What are you laughing at?"
Carroll punched a ghoul to the ground and said to Randall, "Don't you feel like everything right now is familiar?"
Randall thought for a moment, then realized what was going on.
In the Papal States capital, Terre, the two fought to the very last moment on the rooftop of the bell tower.
Randall used Shield Bash to knock a necromancer off the wall, and said with a smile, "I don't know if we're lucky or unlucky... It's always like this."
Carol swung his battle axe, cleaving a lunging undead in two, and said, "I trust my weapon more than luck."
Spotting a spiky undead climbing the city wall, Randall used his toe to pick up a spear, caught it, and hurled it at the undead, piercing it and sending it crashing off the wall.
Just as the two were locked in fierce combat, a figure suddenly approached them rapidly.
Carol instinctively wanted to slash at the figure, but found that the person who came was actually Aldenan.
Aldnan had long since abandoned his crossbow; he was carrying a thin sword, which looked rather incongruous.
Carol looked at Aldenan and asked with some displeasure, "Where did you run off to just now?"
Looking at the increasing number of undead on the city walls, Aldenan shouted to the two, "We should go!"
Carol: "Go? Where to?!"
Aldenan: "Haven't you noticed that there are fewer and fewer people here? The remaining people are the rearguard; the main force of the Crusaders has already retreated towards the royal city!"
Carol continued to swing her battle axe: "Let them go, I will fight to the last."
Aldenan jumped up and down in a panic, then suddenly shouted, "Miss Barbara's child has just been born!"
Upon hearing this, Carroll turned around in shock.
Randall stopped in disbelief, turning to Aldnan again for confirmation: "What did you just say?!"
Aldenan said again, "The baby is born! The baby is born! A female doctor just ran over to tell me."
Carroll first looked at Aldenan, then at Randall, and finally at the city walls, then sighed: "Let's go."
The three fought and retreated, running towards the square behind the city wall.
Before we even reached Barbara's tent, a loud baby's cry could already be heard clearly.
Randall put down his sword and shield, carefully lifted the tent flap, and saw Barbara lying on the bed, looking at her newborn child from the bustling crowd of elven healers.
After putting on a sterilized robe and gloves, Randall walked to the bedside, looked at Barbara who was drenched in sweat and pale, and said softly, "Darling, I'm here."
Barbara's eyes never left the baby; she simply said softly, "Look at him, how beautiful, how precious."
An elven female healer approached Randall and said, "Congratulations, Mr. Quinn, it's a boy... Have you decided on a name yet?"
Barbara and Randall exchanged a glance and said in unison, "Mourning."
Randall looked at the baby and said with a smile, "We decided a long time ago that if it's a boy, his name will be Morning, which also means 'dawn'."
The female doctor gently repeated the name: "Mo Ning, Chenxi, it's a good name."
Barbara turned to look into Randall's eyes and said softly, "The greatest meaning of my life is having you and this child."
Randall took Barbara's hand and said, "We have a long road ahead of us. We'll watch this child grow up, watch him learn to ride a horse, watch him get married and have children..."
Barbara smiled and said softly, "Yes, the future is still long..."
Her voice grew softer and softer until it finally faded into complete silence.
A smile remained on her face, but her eyes were closed forever.
Randall, who had been holding Barbara's hand, suddenly found that her hand slipped down limply.
Unable to believe what was happening, Randall trembled as he held Barbara tightly, calling her name softly over and over again.
There was no response.
The elven healer walked up behind Randall with a grave expression and said softly, "We have already told Miss Barbara about the dangers of childbirth, but she is determined to give birth to this child and has even threatened us, saying she would risk her life."
Seeing the lifeless woman in Randall's arms, Carroll was heartbroken and staggered, barely managing to grab onto the corner of the tent to keep from falling.
Hearing the commotion coming from the direction of the city walls, Aldenan said anxiously, "We should leave here! It will be too late if we don't leave now!"
Randall, his body stiff and his face ashen, sat there holding his wife's body, seemingly oblivious to the world around him.
The baby in the female doctor's arms suddenly started crying loudly, finally eliciting a response from Randall.
He looked at the baby and said in a hoarse voice, "Carol, I'm sorry, but I have a request for you."
When his name was called, Carol stood up straight, his eyes red, and asked sorrowfully, "What is it?"
Randall: "This child... I beg you to take care of him for me..."
