Chapter 766 The Day of Revelation (Part 4)

After the vehicle overturned, the excruciating pain slowly roused Clemens from his unconsciousness. The moment he opened his eyes, he saw a walking corpse covered in parasites gnawing at a body.

Hearing the noise, the walker turned around and let out a shriek at Clemens.

The latter opened its eyes wide and crawled backward while groping on the ground with its hands for anything it could use as a weapon.

Good fortune smiled upon him once again, and Clemens found an M4 assault rifle lying beside him.

Unlock the bolt, raise the muzzle, and pull the trigger.

The moment the walker lunged at him, Clemens blew its head off with a single shot.

Watching the parasites writhing and struggling on the ground, Clemens carefully maneuvered around them with his gun and found Liz and Alice in the bushes not far from the scene of the car accident.

Trying to wake them both up, Clemens first hugged them, then checked them over and said, "We have to leave immediately, it's not safe here."

Hearing the screams of the zombies not far away, Liz struggled to get up from the ground, found a backpack full of supplies, picked up the walkie-talkie from the soldier's corpse, then took Alice's hand and followed Clemens, quickly running into the woods.

The three ran for their lives, paying no attention to which way they were going.

When they stopped, the zombies' cries were barely audible, but the surrounding environment was completely unfamiliar.

Looking at the surrounding forest and mountains, Liz asked, "Where are we?"

Clemens looked around, gun in hand, and after confirming it was safe, asked Liz, "Do you have a map or your phone with you?"

Liz shook her head and said, "They're all in another bag."

Clemens lowered his gun and analyzed, "We're heading from Groom Lake base to Sandstone Airport. Our vehicle has been driving for about thirty minutes at a speed of about 40 miles per hour."

Clemens looked up at the distant mountain peaks: "There's only one place with this kind of snow-capped mountain terrain near Las Vegas, in the direction of Sandstone Airport."

Liz: "Paiute Snow Mountain."

Clemens stood up: “That’s right, the roads and towns down the mountain aren’t safe. We’ll head up the mountain; there’s a resort there. We can find water and food there, and maybe even a car that can start.”

After determining their direction, the three of them followed the mountain path and headed towards the snow-capped mountain.

To their surprise, the zombies had almost disappeared along the way.

Liz, who was only wearing an ordinary trench coat, wrapped the only blanket in her bag around Alice.

She and Clemens were shivering from the increasingly cold weather.

Stepping on the thin layer of snow, Clemens forced a smile and said, "At least we can't see those monsters anymore."

Liz forced a smile: "It seems they don't like the cold."

Alice rubbed her hands together, half-closing her eyes, and followed behind the two of them: "Daddy, I'm so cold, so tired, and... I'm hungry."

Clemens patted Alice on the head: "I can already see the resort billboards. If we go up a little further, we'll be able to rest soon."

Braving the cold wind, the three continued their ascent up the mountain, eventually arriving at a building called "Melvin Ski Hotel".

Clemens gestured for Liz and Alice to wait a moment on the street, then grabbed his assault rifle and walked around the hotel.

There were no signs of zombies, so the area around the hotel should be relatively safe.

Just as Clemens lowered his guard and was about to call the others into the hotel.

A long-barreled shotgun was suddenly pressed against his back.

"Drop your guns!"

An aged voice came from behind Clemens, instantly making the latter tremble.

Clemens slowly lowered his weapon and said softly, "Don't shoot! We're all good people, I can explain everything!"

The aged voice rang out again: "A good person carrying military firearms? Do you take me for an idiot?"

Liz and Alice heard the noise and rushed over, only to see the scene and scream in fright.

A moment later, an old woman's voice came from the hotel window: "Honey! They have children!"

An old voice shouted impatiently, "Old woman, shut your mouth, I saw it."

The old man, known as Horney, removed the shotgun from Clemens's back and gestured for the latter to turn around.

First, he looked at Clemens' face, then at Alice hiding behind Liz, then lowered his gun, pointed his chin at the door, and said, "Come in, all of you!"

With a mix of trepidation and excitement, Clemens led Liz and Alice into the hotel.

An elderly, plump woman wearing an apron walked towards them and said to Horney, "They have a child, don't frighten her."

Honey grunted twice, found a sofa in the living room, sat down, and placed the shotgun beside him.

The old woman smiled and said, “I am Vanya, and this is my husband, Horney… He served in the Vietnam War, please forgive his neuroticism.”

Horney shouted at Clemens, “I let you in, but that doesn’t mean I trust you. Tell me your story, and remember, don’t lie.”

Clemens and Liz exchanged a glance.

Then, Clemens recounted the events of the past few days to the elderly couple in detail.

Vanya covered her mouth, exclaiming in surprise, "You mean, a group of monsters have escaped from the city center?"

Honey slapped the armrest of the sofa and retorted, "He already said it, aliens, a group of aliens who want to destroy the Earth!"

Clemens said to the elderly couple, "The infected area is expanding, and the number of infected people is increasing. Perhaps you should consider coming with us."

"The military has a safe evacuation point at the Sandstone Airport."

Horney shook his head vigorously: "I won't leave!"

Vanya smiled and explained, “Neither of us has good legs and can run too far, and this house is all we have; we can’t possibly abandon it and leave.”

Honey grabbed his shotgun and waved it around proudly: "I have this one too! Anyone who tries to offend me will have to taste my bullet!"

Seeing Alice trembling slightly, Vania quickly said, "I forgot, you've traveled such a long way, you must be tired and hungry. Let me make you something."

Horney raised his right hand and shook it vigorously: "Don't forget my wine!"

Vanya snapped, "Drink less! The doctor already said that if you keep drinking like this, you'll be meeting your maker sooner or later!"

Horney was unmoved: "Stop talking nonsense!"
