And so, in an extremely awkward atmosphere, the man and the woman both chose to remain silent.
More than a minute had passed, and the other person still showed no sign of speaking. Large beads of sweat rolled down Todd's neck.
Looking at the woman who remained silent yet refused to leave, Todd's mind raced with countless ideas, all of which he ultimately rejected.
"You still won't forgive me?"
Hearing the woman finally speak, Todd breathed a sigh of relief, but then his headache returned.
Huh? Forgive what?
Left with no other choice, he had to go along with what the other person was saying: "Asking for forgiveness after the fact is pointless."
The woman looked desolate, her eyes filled with sorrow, and she said painfully, "I know it was my father who broke his vow and annulled our engagement. But he did it all for the sake of our people..."
Is this woman Boyle's fiancée?!
Todd's heart skipped a beat; at least now he knew that the woman and Boyle had been engaged, but it had been opposed by Boyle's father.
Todd continued to extract information: "Now that the oath has been broken, what brings you to see me?"

Hearing the other person's words, Todd frowned and tentatively asked, "What is the price?"
The woman closed her eyes, her voice trembling: "I..."

The scene before him, coupled with Aisha's ordeal in prison, fueled Todd's rage, and he raised his voice three notches higher: "If my freedom is obtained through the sacrifice of women, then I would rather end my life in a gladiatorial contest."
As if she had already guessed the other party's answer, the woman shook her head and said, "You may be able to defeat ten or a hundred enemies, but you will never be able to contend with the entire Kingdom of Ulster. Next month, the Connaught delegation will arrive in Amar City, and Conchuber will organize a grand celebration. I will arrange for someone to meet you in the 'Red Circle' beforehand. They will take you and your people and leave the kingdom on that day."
Todd was somewhat puzzled: "My people number over a hundred. Are you really able to take them all away?"
The woman looked at Todd and nodded: "My father made an alliance with Conchierber. The king provided protection for our tribe, and we swore allegiance to the king. As for me, I became the king's spy in the 'Red Circle'—the Painful Lady Deirdre."
