Chapter 52 The Trial of Heresy (Part Two)

"No problem. The standard dimensions are 17.4 meters long (57 feet) and 2.6 meters (8.5 feet) at its widest point. The draft varies depending on the weight of the vessel, generally ranging from 45 centimeters to 65 centimeters."

"What's the situation regarding crew allocation?"

"There are 16 oar positions on each side, and the maximum load on the boat is 48 people. If you just want to move the boat, you need at least 12 people."

“Thank you very much for your answer.” Todd picked up a hemp rope he had just found and handed it to the knight: “I need to trouble you one last time. Please use this rope to roughly depict the shape of a warship on the ground of the pulpit.”

The knight thought for a moment and then used hemp rope to draw an oval shape on the ground.

Queen Mary's beautiful pale blue eyes flowed quietly, moist as waves. She already understood what the monk wanted to do, but she admitted that she could never have come up with such a whimsical self-justification.

"This is so interesting..."

The maid, not having heard her mistress's whisper, quickly asked, "Your Majesty, what did you say?"

No, there's nothing there.

Soon, church staff brought seventeen empty wooden boxes that had once been used to hold the crystal. Todd also gestured to the eleven priests and knights around him to sit alternately in an oval made of hemp rope.

Once everyone was seated, the monk said to the church staff, "It's alright now. Please place all the wooden crates into the oval. You can choose any arrangement you like, but please note two things: First, do not let the edges of the crates extend beyond the ropes; second, do not stack the crates to a height exceeding 45 centimeters."

The people placed the wooden crates horizontally, vertically, or sideways, avoiding the twelve seated men, and with great effort, finally managed to fit them within the rope's reach. Although there were still some gaps, those were reserved for supplies, tents, and weapons.

Almost everyone present realized one thing.

Even a pirate's warship with a minimum crew of twelve oarsmen could only carry a maximum of seventeen wooden crates of this size, considering navigational safety and cargo handling. The claim that twenty-eight crates of crystal were transported back is utter nonsense and blatant fabrication.

The charge of "falsely reporting the number of sacred objects and embezzling church property" is a joke.

Father Paul and Bishop Fabian's faces turned from white to red, then from red to black. Seeing the angry glare from the latter, the former jolted and immediately shouted, "I now declare Todd guilty of the second charge of heresy!"

"Disobeying the Father's teachings, he secretly practiced evil magic."

Amidst the gasps of the crowd, as Todd slowly rose from the ground, Queen Mary covered her lips with her folding fan and chuckled softly.

The climax of this drama has finally begun...
