After seeing Cumberland's soul off, Todd followed the moss-covered stone path deeper into the island.
After walking a short distance, Todd saw his daughter.
Aurora was pulling on the manticore's tail, relentlessly demanding that it play with her.
Amused and exasperated, Todd walked over to Aurora, gently tapped her head, and said seriously, "Let it go."
When Aurora turned around and saw that it was her father, she immediately pouted and looked like she was about to burst into tears.
Todd crouched down beside Aurora, sighed, and asked softly, "Why did you bully that poor guy?"
Aurora wiped her eyes with the back of her hand: "I didn't mean to bully it, I was just so bored and wanted to find a friend to play with..."
Todd shook his head helplessly and turned around to take a look.
The manticore, having escaped the young dragon's clutches, was hiding behind a large tree, staring at Aurora with a look of terror on its face, as if it had seen a ferocious beast that would devour a man.
Todd rubbed Aurora's little face and asked, "How do you plan to make friends with it?"
Aurora sobbed, “It has been avoiding me and doesn’t want to be with me. I can only hold onto it and not let it leave me.”
Todd brushed Aurora's bangs aside with his finger and said softly, "By using force and intimidation to keep someone by your side, you will never get friends, at best you will only get slaves."
Aurora looked up, her eyes wide, and asked, "Then what should I do?"
“You need to show your friendliness and offer help as unconditionally as possible; that’s how you gain friendship.” Todd stepped aside, gesturing for Aurora to look at the manticore behind the tree, and whispered, “My daughter, think carefully about what you can do to show friendliness to the other person.”
Aurora tilted her head and thought for a while, then reached into the cloth bag at her waist and took out some dried meat as a snack, waving it at the manticore.
Upon seeing the dried meat, the latter sniffed and cautiously peeked out from behind the tree, but remained on guard.
Todd whispered to Aurora, "You're almost there, just a little more effort."
Aurora picked up a piece of jerky, put it in her mouth and chewed it, using her facial expression to indicate that the food was delicious.
The manticore cautiously emerged from behind the tree, slowly approaching Aurora, and hesitantly looked at the food in her hand.
Seeing Aurora clutching the jerky tightly, Todd smiled and said, "Remember this: to get something, you must first learn to give up something else."
Todd's words made Aurora hesitate for a moment.
Immediately afterwards, she gently placed the cloth bag containing the dried meat on the ground and took a few steps back.
Upon witnessing this scene, the manticore crouched low and moved closer, cautiously observing the girl's movements while simultaneously reaching its mouth towards the cloth bag.
Slowly, the manticore finally reached the bag. It stretched out its barbed tongue, rolled a piece of jerky into its mouth, and after only a few chews, it immediately squinted its eyes contentedly, its thick, long tail swaying incessantly.
Soon, after wolfing down the jerky in the bag, the manticore finished it. Like a docile big cat, it slowly walked to Aurora's side and kept rubbing its head against her calves.
Overjoyed, Aurora knelt down and stroked the beast's chin with her fingers. As it purred contentedly, she excitedly called out to Todd, "Father!"
Todd nodded with satisfaction and said, "Stop bullying it, cherish this hard-won friendship..."
As he spoke, Todd turned and walked away, his voice growing softer and softer until it was almost inaudible.
"After all, the more precious something is, the easier it is to take it for granted, and only regret it after you lose it."
Todd walked along the forest path, with boulders and trees floating in the sky and the towering tentacles of Leviathan appearing and disappearing in the distance.
Scáthach, with her purple hair dancing in the wind, held the Genesis tablet in her right hand. While looking at the distribution of buildings on the earth, she gestured to the angels around her to arrange them neatly.
"Shift the soul portal track in the Hall of Antucci slightly to the northwest, rotate the energy base thirty degrees clockwise, and slowly lower it. Very good."
Under Scáthach's command, dozens of angels flapped their wings and worked together to put the floating buildings back in their places one by one.
After overseeing the construction of this area, Scáthach turned her head and saw Todd.
As she slowly descended from the sky to the ground, Scáthach asked Todd, "Have you finished dealing with worldly affairs?"
Todd shrugged and smiled. "To you, those are just mundane things; but to me, they are people I care about."
Scáthach put away the stone tablet and said quietly, "Kingdoms, wars, rule, all are fleeting clouds. The important thing is how to ensure the continuation and reproduction of the race, and how to avoid extinction."
Todd remembered something and asked Scáthach, "By the way, I have some questions for you about the angels and demons you created."
"Please speak."
“Today I had Shields and Mathernas conduct a soul trial, and their perspectives on things are very… different.”
As Todd carefully chose his words, he said, "Shields' judgment of the value of the soul is more... conservative, while Mathernas is more... radical."
Scáthach corrected Todd, saying, "Your description may be somewhat inaccurate. Shields is more inclined to maintain order, while Matheras is more inclined to choose chaos."
Todd was somewhat puzzled: "I always thought that angels represented lawful good, while demons represented chaotic evil."
