Groom Lake military base.
Seeing the distraught Clemens enter the room, Liz led Alice forward to greet him and asked, "What happened?"
Clemens looked at his daughter Alice and managed a weak smile.
Then, he turned his back and whispered to Liz, "Pack your things, let's get out of here."
Liz asked, "Leave? Are you sure those people will let us go?"
Clemens nodded and said, "It's not just us, the entire base is preparing to evacuate, and someone will come to take us away soon."
Liz asked in surprise, "What happened?"
Clemens: "Something's happened at the singularity. Something's escaped from the white hole..."
Liz: "Something?"
Recalling everything that had just happened, Clemens shuddered: "Something very terrible..."
Looking at Clemens' pale face, Liz gently hugged him and turned to Alice, saying, "Baby, pack your toys and books, we're leaving."
Forty minutes later, two fully armed soldiers knocked on the door and said from outside, "Professor Scott, we have to go."
With a large bag slung over his shoulders, a suitcase dragging in one hand, and Alice's hand in the other, Clemens opened the door and said, "Let's go."
Liz was the last to come out. As she closed the door, she looked at the rooms on either side and asked, "Professor Johannesson, and the Ishimura couple? Have they left already?"
Clemens didn't even turn his head: "They're not coming back."
Liz was taken aback, then lowered her head and remained silent.
Along the way, the entire base was filled with scenes of bustling activity.
Some people were busy loading valuable instruments onto trucks, some were burning important documents, and others were distributing weapons and ammunition while loudly explaining how to operate firearms.
Alice clung tightly to Clemens's leg, her eyes filled with fear.
Clemens asked the soldier leading the way, "Where are we going?"
The soldier continued marching: "DesertRock Airport, there's a plane there to pick us up."
Upon arriving at the base's parking lot, a wheeled infantry fighting vehicle was already waiting there.
Clemens crawled through the back door of the tank and saw an unexpected acquaintance.
Mr. Goodman from Washington.
This politician, who is always impeccably dressed in a suit and sporting a trendy hairstyle, now looks somewhat disheveled, and even the slightest noise around him can startle him reflexively.
Watching the Clemens family all board the vehicle, the soldier closed the gate and shouted into the walkie-talkie, "Chalice-7 is fully prepared and ready to depart!"
Minutes later, accompanied by the roar of engines, a large convoy set off from the back gate of the base, embarking on its escape route.
Sitting in the speeding tank, Liz opened a crack in the armored side window and looked outside.
In the distance, thick black smoke billows into the air above the town; along the roadsides, damaged and abandoned vehicles are everywhere.
A soldier walked over and slammed the side window next to Liz shut.
Liz said with dissatisfaction, "Don't you find it stuffy in here? I only opened a crack!"
The soldier said in a deep voice, "They can get in from anywhere."
Liz asked, puzzled: "Them?"
The soldier offered no explanation, simply closed his eyes, and returned to his position.
Huddled in a corner of the carriage, Goodman, with his messy hair, bit his finger and muttered, "These are just minor problems. Our army can wipe them all out."
Clemens looked at Goodman and said, "We may have made a mistake regarding the singularity."
Goodman looked up, his lips twitching as he roared, "Make a mistake?! I could never make a mistake! It's all someone else's fault!"
"Those instruments, yes, those instruments that monitor the white hole! They were all made abroad. There must have been something wrong with the machines that caused this disaster!"
"And those scientists! There must be foreign spies among them! There must be terrorists among them! This is a huge conspiracy against the United States!"
Faced with the frenzied Goodman, Clemens shook his head and remained silent.
A voice suddenly came through the walkie-talkie in the driver's seat of the tank: "A small group of infected people has appeared near the Moccasin RD gate!"
The soldier unloaded his semi-automatic rifle, pulled the bolt, and said to the others in the vehicle, "Stay where you are and hold on tight to the handrails!"
A few minutes later, a piercing scream came from outside the car.
The sound grew louder and louder, and there were more and more of it.
The voice came through the walkie-talkie again: "They're blocking the intersection! We have to rush through!"
Clemens held Liz and Alice tightly, closed his eyes, and began to pray to God.
The speeding tank suddenly crashed into something with a loud bang.
Immediately afterwards, a series of impact sounds came from outside the vehicle. Occasionally, the vehicle would shake, and the sound of the wheels crushing objects could be heard.
With each impact and crush, the tank slowed down, and a series of clanging and banging sounds came from its roof.
The soldier driving the vehicle turned around and shouted towards the truck bed, "Watch out! They've climbed onto the roof!"
Several soldiers inside the tank immediately pointed their guns at the roof.
As the sounds from the roof grew louder, small dents began to appear on the firing hatch on the top of the wheeled armored vehicle.
At first, there was a barely visible gap where the decks were joined, but then the gap grew larger and larger until finally a gap the size of a palm was pried open.
Seeing the black parasitic tentacles reaching into the tank, the soldier shouted "Fire!" and pulled the trigger of his semi-automatic rifle.
The deafening gunshots echoed inside the vehicle.
The bullet pierced through the gap in the roof and accurately struck down the enemy on the roof.
Just as the soldier breathed a sigh of relief, the parasitic tentacle shattered by the bullet fell into the carriage and turned into countless writhing black worms.
A small insect jumped onto a soldier's trouser leg, biting through the synthetic fibers and cotton cloth, and burrowed directly into the latter's skin.
"Ouch! Poop! Something got into my leg!"
The soldier, being devoured by parasites, immediately dropped his gun and frantically clawed at his legs, trying to expel the parasites from his body.
Upon seeing this, Clemens' eyes widened, and he cried out in terror, "He's infected!"
The tiny black insect slithered along the soldier's skin and eventually reached the victim's eyeball.
The insect begins to divide and multiply rapidly, bursting the host's eyeball in a very short time.
A parasitic tentacle, about the thickness of a finger, emerged from the victim's eye socket, twisting and swaying in the air.
Amid screams, the out-of-control tank swayed wildly on the road before finally plunging off the highway and crashing into a thicket of bushes.
