Chapter 610 City of Martyrs (XIV)

"Don't just stand there staring blankly!" Barbara looked at the mess in front of her and anxiously asked Pedro, "Where's the entrance to the secret passage?"

“Oh, right, the secret passage.” Pedro stood up, walked to a shrine to the Virgin Mary in the inner room, and pushed the partition below, revealing a staircase leading downwards.

Looking at the increasing number of boys and girls around him, Randall asked with a headache, "How many children are there?"

Pedro looked around, bewildered. "I don't know, thirty? Maybe forty?"

Aldenan's eyes widened: "I thought there were only a few!"

Looking into the children's hopeful eyes, Randall gritted his teeth and said, "I have to get them all out of here!"

Just then, Kellogg, who was on lookout duty, suddenly rushed in and said in a deep voice, "We've been discovered! A large number of enemies are heading here!"

Aldenan glanced behind him: "It's those handymen! One of them must have gone to inform them!"

Karin drew a second dagger from her waist and twisted her wrist: "How the enemy appears is not important; the key is to prevent them from returning."

Randall raised his shield and said to those around him, "Bulville, Carroll, you two find something to block the door! Barbara, you and Kellogg provide ranged support! Aldnan, you go out through the roof window and make sure there are no enemies above or behind us!"

"Father Pedro, the task of evacuating the children is entrusted to you!"

With the tasks assigned, everyone began their intense and busy preparations.

Bourville and Carroll dismantled the marble table, the statue of God the Father, the bed boards... they moved everything that could be used as a barrier and cover to the front door.

Barbara removed her cloak, revealing her beautiful and delicate face. Her entire body radiated a pale blue aura, and flames began to dance at her fingertips, illuminating the entire room.

Kellogg took out the blowpipe and the poisoned needles from his bag and looked around between the pillars in the room, trying to find the perfect ambush spot.

Aldenan climbed up the wall to the skylight and looked at Karin, who was walking towards the backyard, and asked, "Are you sure you don't need my help...?"

Karin brandished the dagger in her hand.

Aldenan shrank back: "Okay, never mind."

Randall followed Pedro into the inner room of the confessional.

They broke open several closed doors, and in each room were one or two children locked in small beds or corners, their clothes tattered and their bodies covered in bruises.

"These bastards deserve to go to hell!" Randall roared as he slashed through the child's shackles with his sword. "To commit such demonic acts in the so-called sanctuary, their souls should be burned in the flames of karma for eternity!"

Pedro closed his eyes in anguish, gently cradling the injured child in his arms, and whispered, "I'm sorry, my child, God loves the world..."

"They're here!"

Carol's muffled shout came from the doorway.

Randall stood up, drew his sword, and said to Pedro, "We'll hold off the enemy, Father. Please hurry."

When Randall returned to the gate, Carroll and Bulwell were locked in fierce combat with the enemy.

A heavy infantryman carrying a kite shield tried to climb over the obstacle at the doorway. Carroll grabbed the man's ankle, dragged him in front of him, punched the unfortunate man's helmet into a pancake, and then threw the body into the enemy ranks like trash.

Bourville picked up the giant axe, which was as tall as a man, and strode into the enemy's front line. He swung the axe like a whirlwind, washing everything in its path in blood.

Shields, armor, weapons, limbs, and flesh were all shattered into pieces by the swing of the minotaur's giant axe, falling into the narrow passage.

"Hold on! Maintain the front line! Don't retreat!"

A knight commander, whose armor was embroidered with a gold-edged cross, shouted towards the front, "There are only two of them! Our reinforcements... uh!"

A poisoned needle glowing green shot out from inside the door, piercing the knight commander's right eye and silencing him forever.

"Get out of the way!" Barbara yelled, and a fireball the size of a face plate leaped from her hands, arcing through the air before landing in the corridor.

boom!

A huge explosion resounded throughout the building.

A powerful blast of air and scorching flames engulfed everything, leaving charred human remains scattered throughout the collapsed corridor.

Crawling behind the obstacle, Bulville frantically extinguished the flames on his body, glanced at the door, shrugged, and said, "The enemy has escaped."

Randall frowned and said, "It's only temporary."

Father Pedro gathered the children in the confessional chapel and said to them, “These people are from the West. Although they look… a little strange, they are all good people. They will take you to a safe place.”

A slightly older boy whispered, "Anywhere is fine, as long as it's not here."

Father Pedro glanced at the boy and sighed.

Pedro led the children to the front hall and said to Randall, who was reinforcing the roadblocks, "The children are all here."

“Very good, you lead them into the secret passage first, we will cover the rear.”

Pedro shook his head: "Can I only leave after all the children have left?"

"Why?"

"Some children are very shy. If I leave, who will take care of them?"

Somewhat perplexed, Randall turned to Karin beside him for help.
