"This is...your soul space?" Todd seemed to have recovered somewhat. "You implanted a soul seed within Meredith? Is that why I was able to enter your soul space through her?"
Scáthach did not answer Todd's question, but instead pointed to the shattered crystal city: "That is the Linglan Empire, an empire with highly developed arts and medicine."
After a pause, Scáthach continued, "And as a pioneer, I was the first race to participate in creating."
Todd asked with some doubt: "A race you helped create?"
"The Crystal Being, as the manager and creator of the universe, possesses a vast biological gene pool. As the first creations of the Crystal Being, the Pioneers must cooperate with the Crystal Being to select suitable fragments from the gene pool to create other life forms and complete the work of observation and supervision."
Scáthach watched as the city in the sky crashed to the ground with a deafening roar, and a massive sandstorm instantly swept across the entire space.
“Although Crystal Nest’s ultimate goal with these created beings is merely to pursue experimental results, we, as pioneers, have our own thoughts and preferences,” Scáthach said, shaking her head. “We poured all our heart and soul into the race we were responsible for designing and creating. Whether it was appearance, character, or intelligence, we hoped to create a perfect race, but we forgot one thing…”
Todd closed his eyes and said helplessly, "War."
Scáthach looked at Todd, her eyes filled with endless sorrow: "At first, we simply didn't understand... In an infinite living space, creation and cooperation are things that everyone can benefit from. Why would any race be so keen on seizing everything through such a foolish means as destruction?"
“Our beloved races were destroyed one by one, and those that survived were left with only tyranny, suspicion, possessiveness and madness in their genes. The victors, with nothing left to destroy and devour, turned their attention to their own kind and went further and further down the path of infighting and self-destruction, until the whole universe returned to peace.”
Scáthach turned to Todd, a strangely shaped crimson spear now in her hand.
Looking at the familiar weapon, Todd exclaimed in surprise, "This is...?"
"This weapon is called 'Dead Silence,' and it originally belonged to the warmongers who destroyed the Linglan Empire. It is made of a very special silicon-based biological material that can lock onto the dark energy wavelengths of specific organisms and use planetary gravity as propulsion to carry out homing strikes on targets."
Scáthach looked at Todd and said, word by word, "This weapon can not only attack enemies, but also attack itself if used improperly. If you had to describe it in one word, it would probably be 'curse'."
“I once gave Cú Chulainn a weapon like this, intending for him to understand the nature of power—it can give you everything, but it can also take everything away. However, he may have become addicted to power and forgotten everything I said…” Scáthach lowered her head and whispered, “He’s only unleashing less than a tenth of its power. So, Todd, stop him while there’s still time, before he makes an even bigger mistake…”
As the space dissipated, Todd's consciousness returned to his body in an instant.
Looking at the smiling Meredith before him, Todd was still somewhat stunned: "Scáthach told me..."
Meredith interrupted him: "After you left, my master thought it over and over again, worried that you would be at a disadvantage in the fight against Cú Chulainn, so he specially sent me to deliver something to you."
Meredith took out a long, rectangular object wrapped in linen from under her raven-feather cloak. She slowly unwrapped the linen, and the hidden object revealed itself, causing Todd to gasp in shock.
It was the weapon Scáthach had shown him in the soul realm—Death Silence.
