Chapter 165 The Rallying Ceremony of the Renaissance

Following Ulysses into the construction site of the cathedral, Elijah looked on in amazement at the busy workers before him.

A man who looked no different from an ordinary person walked to the material storage area, and his skin slowly turned the color of steel. He then carried a beam weighing over a thousand pounds, walked lightly to the pulley crane, and hung the heavy object on the lifting platform. A woman dressed in hemp clothing raised her hands to the sky, and sunlight gathered and refracted above her head into a straight "beam of light," parallel to the ground and shining on a corner of the construction site. Beside her were several monks holding blueprints, constantly asking the woman to adjust the direction of the light to calculate the four pillars and cross-sections of the building. A young man carrying two buckets of lacquer quickly passed by Elijah, his figure like an arrow released from a bow. With a push of his feet, he leaped more than ten meters into the air, directly onto the high platform, without spilling a single drop of lacquer.

Elijah's eyes widened, his gaze unwavering, and he turned to ask, "Who are these people...?"

Ulysses greeted the monks familiarly as he spoke, “These people are aberrations, possessing various abilities. With the Holy Son’s permission, they have become residents of Twilight Town. Although they are few in number, they have gradually established themselves in the town thanks to their convenient supernatural abilities. You can see them in many places: the academy, the theater, the market, the workshops, and the farmland. By the way, when interacting with aberrations, be mindful of your words and actions. They are a very united group, and any insults or attacks will bring you unnecessary trouble…”

Elijah followed Ulysses forward, through the busy construction site, and came to a makeshift low house at the back.

Before even entering the room, I could hear a heated argument coming from inside.

One was a melodious female voice: "I said, these three slender spires are the heart of the cathedral! Removing them would ruin the beauty of the entire building!"

The other was a slightly helpless baritone voice: "Madam, the design drawings are one thing, the actual construction is another."

Ulysses knocked on the door and led Elijah into the room.

Standing inside the room were a beautiful woman and a group of embarrassed monks.

After some explanation and questioning, Elijah finally understood the whole story. This beautiful woman named Mary had independently completed the construction drawings for the Musi Cathedral, but due to the architectural style and design concept, the monks believed that the construction would cause a series of problems such as overloading and center of gravity shift, and demanded that the drawings be revised.

Elijah carefully examined the drawings and communicated with both parties before borrowing paper and pen to begin calculations.

The people inside the room looked at this new guest who had just arrived in Muxi Town and asked Ulysses about his background.

The latter explained with pride, "Elijah is the most outstanding student the Royal Academy has had in recent decades, and a genius recognized by the professors. He just arrived here from the ancient holy city today..."

After repeated calculations, Elijah, holding a paper filled with formulas, began to offer his suggestions based on Mary's design drawings: "These three spires can be preserved, and their original height can remain unchanged. However, some adjustments must be made to the walls and structure of the buildings. For example, the column bases and column railings can be moderately offset, and the cone-shaped structure can be rebuilt accordingly. In addition, I suggest changing the original two-story structure of the spires to a three-story structure. Here are the load-bearing formulas and floating ranges I calculated based on the data in the design drawings. Due to time constraints, you will need to perform detailed calculations."

Ulysses nudged Elijah with his elbow and whispered, "It's getting late, and we're almost done here. There's one more person waiting to see you."

The latter nodded and left the construction site amidst the astonished gazes of everyone in the room.

Elijah and Ulysses eventually arrived at the very center of Muxi Town—the Great Square.

"Sisters' Inn".

Reading the shop sign aloud, Elijah asked Ulysses, "Who is this person you said you wanted to see?"

The young man did not answer his question, but instead pushed open the hotel door.

The moment Elijah stepped into the inn, he was immediately drawn to its interior design. Grass-green ivy climbed the wooden branches, forming natural screens between the tables, adorned with small flowers of various colors. Water flowed from an aqueduct outside the courtyard, cascading down through decorative openings in the walls to create a miniature waterfall. The chairs and tables were unlike anything he'd seen before; they were reclining chairs in a style reminiscent of ancient Greece, complete with cork cushions and cotton covers, allowing one to sink into them and achieve complete relaxation.

Ulysses greeted the maid Pamela with a smile. Pamela recognized him as the guy who always freeloaded but never paid for his drinks and gave him a disdainful look.

In the lobby of the inn, Elijah saw a familiar figure—the knight Dion.

This beauty, who was always the focus of high society in the capital of Taro, now sat dejectedly in a corner of the hotel, looking at the barley tea and snacks in front of her, silent.

Elijah was about to catch up with him when Ulysses grabbed his arm and shook his head, saying to the middle-aged man, "Dion has been in a bad mood lately, don't bother him. The person who wants to see you is on the second floor."

Walking up to the second floor, his feet sinking into the soft carpet, Elijah reached the end of the corridor and waited for Ulysses to knock on the door. Upon seeing the person on the bed, he exclaimed in surprise, "Teacher Terence?!"
