Meanwhile, in the inner harbor of Muxi City.
Stepping onto the harbor's pier, Rachel lifted her hood and looked at the distant sky with a solemn expression.
Two citizens walked past her, one of them saying as they went, "What was that alarm just now? Is it really possible that the enemy is attacking Muxi City?"
The other person said, "Don't be silly, that's impossible."
The first person added, "However, for the past three months, the outer city of Muxi City has been under construction, which is unprecedented."
The other person scratched his head: "I guess this is just a precaution."
Watching the two people walk further and further away, Rachel turned around and said, "Come on, we should go."
Karin took Rachel's hand and nodded.
Walking on the streets of Twilight City, Karin listened to everything around her so familiar and said excitedly, "Is it just my imagination? I feel like there are more and more people in the city."
Rachel slowed her pace: "Trade between the northern cities and Twilight City is becoming increasingly frequent. Many of the new marine species are amphibious, and they also enter the city after sunset. And there's also Holy Guard City and Silver Ring City..."
Karin noticed that Rachel had stopped talking, so she asked, "What happened in Holy Guard City and Silver Ring City?"
Rachel said softly, "No, it's nothing... In short, Twilight City is more crowded and noisy than ever before."
Karin: "Perhaps it's because I've been alone for too long, I'm now finding that being crowded and noisy isn't necessarily a bad thing."
Rachel patted Karin's hand: "Whatever makes you happy."
Karin followed Rachel for a while longer, then suddenly asked, "I wonder how Marcus is doing now?"
Rachel: "He's a necromancer, you should know that. I can't let him into the city."
Karin: "I know, but I'm still a little worried about him. His emotions can be unstable sometimes..."
Rachel: "I've already asked Hudgens to look after him. They're old acquaintances, and Hudgens is very smart and knows how to handle his emotions."
Karin nodded and said, "I hope everything is alright."
As they walked and talked, they gradually approached the city center of Muxi City—Muxi Square.
Karin heard the laughter and chatter in the square, and she also heard the chimes from the clock tower.
Karin: "We're almost there."
Rachel helped Karin walk slowly to a building and said softly, "Yes, we've arrived."
The sister hotel, built on one side of the square, was as brightly lit and full of guests as ever.
Pamela, who was busy in the lobby on the first floor, caught a glimpse of two familiar figures out of the corner of her eye, which made her scream.
"They're back!"
Upon hearing the shout, Cosette, who was busy checking the stock by the liquor cabinet, dropped what she was doing and ran out overjoyed.
"Sister Foreman!"
Under the watchful eyes of the hotel guests, the four women embraced each other, weeping uncontrollably as if they were family members reunited after a long separation.
After a while, Rachel patted the others on the shoulder, signaling everyone to go inside and talk.
After opening the manager's room in the hotel, Rachel and the other three sat down.
She first said to Pamela, "Make proper arrangements at the hotel and don't neglect the guests."
Pamela nodded and said, "Don't worry, the others will take care of everything while I'm away."
Rachel led Karin to sit on the edge of the bed, glanced at the excited Pamela and Cosette, and said, "I know you're curious about where Karin has been all this time. How about this, let her tell you herself."
Facing her two sisters, Karin removed her hood, gathered her thoughts, and slowly recounted her experiences over the past few days, deliberately omitting details about the undead.
After the two women heard Karin's account, they looked at the shocking burns on her face and were filled with sorrow.
Pamela gently held Karin's hand: "No matter what, it's good that you're back."
Cosette nodded vigorously: "Here, no bad people will harm you; the Dragon God protects everything."
Pamela echoed, "The Dragon God protects everything."
Karin softly repeated the word "Dragon God" before falling silent.
Rachel glanced at Karin, then turned to Pamela and asked, "Has there been any unusual activity from the Alien Association lately?"
Pamela thought for a moment and said, "It seems there's a saying circulating in the association."
Rachel squinted and asked, "What did you say?"
Pamela said, "The Forefathers have returned, to the land of promises."
Rachel's expression was grave, and she remained silent.
Pamela continued, "I asked some people in the association, and they said that this saying comes from a legend in the Elders' Council. It is roughly said that when the calamity of the aliens arrives, a savior will descend to earth and guide all the aliens to a new life in the endless darkness."
Rachel asked calmly, "How many people from the Alien Association in Twilight City have left during this period?"
Pamela was a little surprised: "Sister Rachel, you even know this? A lot of people have left Twilight City recently. At first, they used the excuse of visiting relatives or traveling, but later many people simply left the city and could no longer be contacted."
Cosette asked worriedly, "Sister Rachel, why are these people leaving Twilight City?"
