Todd frowned as he looked at the female warriors sitting on their horses.
The leader of the five "Valkyries," a young woman with moon-silver hair, looked at the cross on Todd's chest and shouted, "This is the mortal realm under the rule of the gods. Heretics are not welcome! Leave!"
Huggins drew his sword and strode toward the Valkyries.
Knowing what he was about to do, Todd quickly stopped the knight from advancing.
Todd's ultimate goal was to break the alliance between the North Islanders and the barbarians, not to wage war against them. Ordering his troops to attack the Valkyrie here would mean the Twilight Knights would enter a state of endless war with all the North Island tribes, a result he absolutely did not want. However, on the other hand, the Claw Chieftain—Krofts—had to die, otherwise it would affect the entire plan. This situation was truly a dilemma.
Todd looked up at the Valkyrie and asked, "The chieftain of the Claw tribe ordered an attack on my territory and killed my people, yet in the middle of a duel for honor, he chose to betray his people and flee the battle! Valkyrie, will you also condone such a violation of tradition?"
The silver-haired Valkyrie, who was in the lead, glanced at Crofts's evasive eyes and immediately realized that what Todd said was true.
She put away her bow and arrows, sat on her horse and thought for a moment, then said, "My sisters and I have long been entrusted with the mission of protecting the believers of the gods of the Northern Island when foreign enemies invade. We will not interfere in other matters."
The Valkyries' meaning couldn't be clearer. When North Islanders and outsiders quarrel, they will side with the North Islanders; when North Islanders fight among themselves, they will remain indifferent.
Morgan gleefully raised his axe, pointing the blade at Crofts, and said with a laugh, "Old man, it's time to settle our scores! Come to think of it, you owe me quite a bit, and today we'll settle them one by one!"
As Morgan drew closer, Chief Claw, his heart pounding with fear, cried out to his people, "You! Come and help me!"
No one moved an inch.
Crofts turned around, intending to run away again.
The silver-haired Valkyrie pulled on the reins, urging her horse to block his path. A sharp spear was pointed at the chieftain's throat, and her voice was colder than eternal ice: "North Islander, your actions are disgracing the gods! Take up your weapons! Fight!"
