A pale yellow stone with a warm, lustrous sheen slowly rose from the earth and settled in his palm.
Tucked the amber stone into his pocket, Todd stood up, took one last look at the cell floor, and strode out of the cell, leaving only his figure disappearing into the darkness.
Perhaps it was the shock of the king's promise of freedom that made the gladiators today completely devoid of their usual ease and comfort. Each one was like a demon from the depths of hell, fighting and dying like wild beasts for a rope hanging from the cliff.
A gladiator wielding a sharp blade kicks his opponent to the ground, drops his shield, and with a roar, plunges his weapon into the enemy's abdomen with all his might.
As the dying man screamed, blood stained the battlefield between the two, leaving only the gasps of the audience.
Watching what was happening on the field, Ackerman lightly drew a few lines on his wrist with his fingers, his expression solemn, and it was unclear what he was thinking.
The appearance of Todd finally brought this handsome young man in his early twenties back to his senses.
"Boss, the final match is almost here."
Todd nodded, donned his armor, picked up his shield and short sword, and then slowly put on a Corinthian helmet with a red horsehair.
