Chapter 740 The Other Side (Part 8)

General Hamilton was about to say something more when a black Chevrolet Tahoe slowly approached from the distance and came into his view.

Upon seeing the license plate of the car, General Hamilton's eye twitched, and he muttered under his breath, "Damn vulture!"

The Chevrolet Tahoe pulled up beside the two of them, and a middle-aged white man in a suit and tie, with his hair slicked back with hairspray, got out of the back seat.

He approached Hamilton, looked at the white hole in the distance, and exclaimed in genuine admiration, "My God! This is absolutely beautiful!"

General Hamilton cleared his throat: "Mr. Goodman, this is a military restricted area. You should not be here."

Goodman, impeccably dressed in a suit, smiled and said, "General, you're too serious. This trip wasn't my own idea, but... you know."

Goodman pointed to the top of his head as he spoke.

General Hamilton's face darkened. "I don't understand," he said. "I've been fully authorized to handle everything..."

Goodman's eyes fell on the eight corpses covered with white sheets on the ground, interrupting Hamilton's speech: "General, I've already read the full report in the car... Let me put it this way, this Singularity Contact mission was nothing short of a disaster."

"You and your team spent countless amounts of money and time, and the result you calculated was actually off by a full two hundred kilometers."

Goodman nodded to Major Cole: "If it weren't for the major's patrol, this singularity outbreak could have directly come into contact with the public, leading to unforeseen consequences."

"What did you say?!"

General Hamilton never expected the other side to define the operation in this way.

General Hamilton first looked at the smiling Goodman, then at Major Cole, who had a calm expression.

In an instant, he understood everything.

Looking down at the dried bloodstains at his feet, Goodman took two steps back with disgust and asked Major Cole, "Where's Professor Scott? Has he arrived?"

Major Cole turned around and waved.

With a mix of trepidation and unease, Clemens approached.

Goodman smiled and shook hands with Clemens, saying, "I've heard about your story. We need someone as capable as you."

Clemens glanced at Hamilton's ashen face and said awkwardly, "I don't know if I can actually be of any help..."

Goodman turned to look at the white hole and said, "You are an excellent scientist, capable of calculating the parameters of a singularity using a global database. So please tell me, you must have a way to analyze the stability of this white hole."

Clemens misunderstood the other party's meaning: "Um, let me think... This white hole is caused by a triangular potential energy field. Assuming that the energy in this potential field is stable and balanced, then as long as any corner of the triangular field is subjected to force—that is, any black giant tower—the balance of the entire potential field can be disrupted."

Seeing Goodman's confused expression, Clemens decided to explain in simple terms: "In other words, if a horizontal vector force is applied to any one of the three black towers, causing it to tilt by even fifty centimeters, the balance of the entire potential energy field can be broken, and the white hole can be completely shut down."

Goodman shook his head and laughed, "Oh, Professor Scott, you misunderstood me. What I want to see is not closing this passage, but maintaining it."

Clemens was taken aback: "Maintain...this passage?"

Goodman grabbed Clemens's shoulder, his eyes brimming with excitement: "You have no idea what this means. The two singularity events in 1947 and 1986 brought unimaginable advanced knowledge to the entire United States, giving us scientific and technological advancements far ahead of human civilization, making this country a world leader."

"Unfortunately, the last two singularity eruptions were very short-lived, and the white holes were very small, so the data we were able to obtain was very limited."

"But this time it's different! A singularity of such a massive scale and such stable operation is something we've always dreamed of!"

"As long as this white hole continues, with our current analytical technology, the United States will soon achieve epoch-making progress!"

Looking at Goodman, whose eyes were flashing with madness, Clemens instinctively said, "But we don't know what's on the other side of the white hole..."

Goodman interrupted him: "The other side? Of course, it's God's gift, America's gospel, and the hope of all mankind!"

After the initial excitement subsided and he calmed down a bit, Goodman released Clemens's shoulder: "Sorry, Professor, I was just too excited."

Goodman turned to General Hamilton: "I heard that a group of magical beings came out of the white hole yesterday?"

General Hamilton said in a deep voice, "The number is about a thousand. After entering downtown Las Vegas, they were seen heading west towards the Blue Diamond Mountains."

Goodman took out a handkerchief, wiped his hands, and said calmly, "Find them, dead or alive."

General Hamilton: "The army has sealed off every exit from the mountains."

Goodman: "Try to keep their bodies intact, you know why."

General Hamilton: "I don't need you to tell me how to do it."

Goodman chuckled and said, "That's true. It's not like this is the first time you've done something like this. Just don't make any more mistakes."

General Hamilton remained silent, his face grim.

Goodman turned back for one last look at the white hole and said with a smile, "God bless America."
