"Mr. Dunlop! Something terrible has happened!"
An anxious assistant rushed into the laboratory and shouted at Wayne Dunlop, who was comparing experimental samples, "Miss Aisha is going to take the keelship away!"
Wayne put down the sample in his hand and said in a distressed tone, "Can't that willful female pirate just stay quiet for even a day?"
After tidying up everything in the laboratory, Wayne followed his assistant to the dock, where he saw Aisha, wearing a fish-skin bodysuit, arguing loudly with the staff.
Aisha's tight-fitting leather armor, made of sharkskin, was form-fitting and waterproof, with a row of holes on the back specifically for attaching the nerve hooks of parasites. The armor clung to her skin, offering no other covering.
With her stunning figure on full display, the men around her dared not make the slightest move.
This is because, as those familiar with Aisha know, beneath this beautiful exterior of the female pirate lies a wild and tyrannical soul. She can drink the strongest liquor and tell the most vulgar jokes like men, and she can also smile as she cuts off the arm of anyone who dares to misbehave towards her.
Wayne approached the crowd and heard Aisha point at the warship behind them and shout, "Are you planning to let this ship just lie here and never go to sea again?!"
Someone advised, "Miss Aisha, this ship is still in the experimental stage and cannot be sailed out!"
Aisha retorted, "In my opinion, the quality of a ship can only be tested when it sails out to sea; sleeping in a dark cave like this will only keep it company with dust and insects forever!"
Someone then shouted, "Mr. Dunlop is here!"
Wayne pushed through the crowd, walked up to Aisha, and looked her in the eyes: "Where do you want to take this ship?"
Looking at the slender, tall scholar, Aisha lowered her voice by three degrees: "Just take a stroll on the nearby sea."
Wayne thought for a moment and then asked, "Is your decision to go to sea related to the war in the south?"
Aisha deliberately avoided the question and instead asked, "Mr. Dunlop, wouldn't you like to test the power of this warship?"
Looking at the expressions on the faces of those around her, Aisha pointed to the keel-shaped warship and said to everyone, "We've lived here for several months, and our daily work revolves around this warship... After working so hard for so long, don't you want to see the results of your hard work?"
The group looked at each other in silence for a moment.
Someone said, "For this warship to be used in actual combat, it must first obtain the cabinet's approval."
Aisha said with a smile, "Remember, this is not actual combat; it's more like a long-distance voyage experiment."
Someone else asked, "What if this warship is damaged in the war?"
Aisha retorted irritably, "I'm not the kind of idiot who would sail into enemy territory in a warship! I used to be a pirate, and running away when things look bad is my specialty!"
After saying this, Aisha turned her gaze to Wayne: "Mr. Dunlop, if you had painstakingly raised a hunting dog, would you lock it in a cage or let it out to track prey?"
Wayne first looked at the provocation and questioning in Aisha's eyes, then turned to his assistant and asked, "Are the warship's weapons ready?"
"The spore torpedoes propelled by 24 black powder cartridges have been tested and confirmed to be usable."
What about ship control?
“Miss Aisha has completed hundreds of keel connections, and there are no problems with operability and flexibility.”
"What about the sails and oars?"
“We abandoned the previous straight sails and adopted triangular sails, and the small paddles at the bottom of the boat have also been proven to be effective.”
Wayne turned his head, stared into Aisha's eyes, and slowly said, "Going to sea is fine, but I have a condition."
Suppressing her joy and excitement, Aisha nodded repeatedly: "Please speak."
"I will send an assistant to go to sea with you."
Aisha smiled and said, "No problem."
————————————
Amidst the roar of cannons, a solid shell landed on the watchtower of the outer wall of Lone Rock City, collapsing half of the building.
Human limbs and blood fell like raindrops mixed with hail on the city wall's passageway.
Randall shook his head, removing a piece of intestine that had fallen onto his helmet, and shouted to Horn beside him, "Knight Commander, the enemy's artillery fire is too intense... Look at those soldiers on the city walls!"
Horn turned his head to look at the guards beside him. The soldiers of Lone Rock City were so frightened by the earth-shattering cannon fire that they hid behind the city wall and dared not move an inch. They were like quails that had been hit by frost, and had no intention of resisting at all.
Then, he peeked out from the city wall.
Finally, Horn bent over, patted Randall's helmet, and shouted, "Get up! The enemy is charging again!"
Randall leaped to his feet, rushed to the edge of the city wall, and with a swift, diagonal slash of his longsword, decapitated an Imperial soldier who had just climbed the wall.
Horn led a few knights, forming a small wedge formation, and charged into the enemy ranks. With a fierce fight, they drove the enemy troops off the city walls.
In the main camp of the Ayyubid Empire, Saladin, mounted on horseback, held a monocular telescope and watched the battle unfold on the city walls, his brow furrowing deeper and deeper.
"Caliph! General Ilam has sent another messenger, requesting reinforcements for the siege!"
Upon hearing the messenger's shouts, Saladin retorted without hesitation, "No!"
