Chapter 530 The Rise of the Divine Kingdom (Fifteen)

Emerson asked doubtfully, "Is the answer in this heaven?"

Todd calmed down and slowly explained to Emerson: "Whether it is absolute monarchy or democratic self-governance, the problem ultimately lies in the variability and complexity of human nature. A single foolish and selfish decision by monarchs can destroy an empire that has lasted for thousands of years; while a single irrational action by citizens can bring about the annihilation of the entire people."

"Therefore, my idea is to create an independent space for the soul outside the scope of the human material world, and to introduce an objective, higher-level set of rules, or laws, that can impose behavioral and moral constraints on society regarding the afterlife of humans."

"This law mainly works by looking back at a person's words and deeds in their previous life and judging them according to the results of good and evil, sending them to heaven or hell."

Emerson was puzzled when he heard this: "This sounds no different from the Bible and other similar religious doctrines."

Todd smiled and shook his head: "It may sound like there's no difference, but the rules I've established have two major advantages over those illusory religions. First, any believer can enter Heaven and Hell at any time by touching the 'Seed of the Soul' to see and examine how the dead are judged and how they are assigned to Heaven and Hell."

"In this way, everyone will clearly understand that the laws of judgment in the Kingdom of Heaven are different from the vague doctrines of the Father's Church. The former are real and can be experienced personally at any time. After personally experiencing the power of the laws of the Kingdom of Heaven, I believe that every believer will pay attention to their words and deeds, actively do good, and stay away from sin."

Todd stated definitively, "I have already tested the effects of the Heavenly Laws in Froststone City. It has been proven that every believer there, after witnessing the Scales of Fate and the Temple of Heroes, tends to act more in accordance with devout faith rather than selfish human nature."

Emerson nodded: "If believers can feel the power of heaven at all times and experience the consequences of the judgment of their souls, I believe that no one would be foolish enough to disregard what they will face after death."

"The second advantage of the Kingdom of Heaven's Law is that its rules and content will not change due to human intervention."

“Emerson, you should be well aware of the actions of the Papacy. Take the Bible for example. The earliest version of the Bible and the current version have been modified and supplemented several times by successive popes with ulterior motives in terms of content and interpretation. Their purpose in modifying the Bible is not to improve doctrine, but to consolidate their personal religious prestige.”

"Similarly, in any kingdom, the previous king or parliament may have formulated a reasonable regulation or enacted an important law. When the next king changes or the parliament is reorganized, the original law is often overturned or amended."

"And the laws of the Kingdom of Heaven will not change because of the personal will of the missionaries; once established, they will become eternal and unchanging truths."

"In other words, even if the Church of Heaven changes its pope and the city of Muxi changes its king, they have no power to overturn the existing laws and seek their own selfish interests."

Emerson lamented, "In this way, whether it is the Pope or the King, they are all subjects of judgment in the Kingdom of Heaven, just like all mortals."

You're right.

Todd looked at the distant mountains and said quietly, "After experiencing many things, I have gradually come to understand a fact. The human race is itself a contradictory combination. They possess the passion and wisdom to create, but they also have the desire and tendency to destroy."

"If we don't define a space for human activity and rules for behavior, this group will eventually destroy itself with the weapons it makes."

Emerson shook his head helplessly: "What you said makes perfect sense. Through this turmoil in Twilight City, I've also seen something clearly. Humans without faith, once they completely deny the existence of an afterlife, become more utilitarian and extreme. Faced with national honor and personal interests, the vast majority of people will choose the latter. Because in their view, death means the end, and enjoying life as much as possible while they're still alive is the true meaning of life."

Todd sighed: "If we deny God and deny Heaven, then humanity will become utterly utilitarian. They will abandon humanity and embrace bestiality. They will use material things as the sole measure of value and no longer care about the well-being and future of the entire race."

After a moment of silence, Todd looked at Emerson and said calmly, "Tell everyone in Twilight City that the visit to Heaven is coming to an end. Soon, they will wake up and face reality again. Whether they choose to continue being slaves to money and material possessions, or whether they are willing to fight for Heaven after death, is something they need to think about."

Emerson closed his eyes, took a step back, and knelt down on one knee before Todd.

Todd raised his hands, sending the visitors from the soul space back into reality.

As streaks of white light flashed before their eyes, the citizens of Muxi City finally found themselves back in the square.

The setting sun still painted the sky with its evening glow, while blood continued to drip from the high platform onto the ground.

That seemingly unreal event occurred in just a few seconds.

Awakening from shock and astonishment, the citizens of Muxi City first looked at each other, then whispered among themselves, and finally erupted in loud exclamations.

"Heaven truly exists!"
