Huggins took a deep breath, held his lance level, shielded his chest with his knight's shield, leaned forward slightly, kicked hard at his horse's flanks, and shouted, "The Knights of Twilight, for glory! Charge!"
A torrent of steel swept out of the city gates and clashed with the horde of war beasts, like a heavy hammer striking a red-hot anvil.
Sparks flew everywhere, and iron scales scattered.
The poison-laden iron crocodile closest to the city gate was thrown to the ground by the powerful impact, and then its soft belly was ripped open by a sharp spear. It died in agony while rolling around.
The remaining three giant crocodiles turned their heads and charged towards the flank of the knights. Their massive and heavy bodies slammed into them, sending several knights and their horses flying more than ten meters away.
Charging into open territory, Huggins used "Hive" to contact the knights, then used an inside-cutting circling maneuver to circle around the remaining Poison Gas Iron Crocodiles, refocusing his charge on them.
As the attacks drew ever closer, the monsters crouched down, and large amounts of toxic gas were ejected into the air from the openings in their bodies.
As the knight and his warhorse approached, they immediately felt dizzy and nauseous.
"Hold your breath!" Huggins ordered. "First Regiment, overturn these war beasts; Second Regiment, pierce their abdomens. No one should remain within the gas zone for more than five seconds!"
With a perfectly synchronized charge and well-trained coordination, the remaining three Poison Gas Iron Crocodiles eventually fell to the knights' spears.
Huggins glanced at the gutted war beasts and ordered his men to take the wounded back to the fortress. When he returned to the city walls, he was greeted by cheers and praises from everyone.
"Sir! We've defeated those monsters!"
"By the Heavenly Father! Honor belongs to the Knights of Twilight!"
"Let these sons of bitches learn what true power is!"
Huggins took off his helmet, took the towel handed to him by his attendant, brushed aside the parasitic limbs on his head, wiped the sweat and blood from his face, and let out a long sigh of relief.
Just as people were still basking in the joy of victory, the sentry in the watchtower sounded the alarm again: "The barbarian army is back!"
The dark mass of enemy troops returned to their camp, facing the Twilight Knights on the city walls.
He tossed the towel to his subordinate, looked at the opposing army, and said with a sneer, "Your war beasts have already died by my gun. I'd like to see what other tricks you have up your sleeve!"
Just then, a lone rider emerged from the barbarian and Silver Ring armies.
A young man of seventeen or eighteen years old rode a white horse, leaving the camp and arriving between the two armies.
He was tall and strong, with a bronze complexion and distinct, deep-set features. He wore a bib made of white bear skin on his lower body and only a breastplate tied around his left chest on his upper body.
As the man and horse slowly approached, Huggins muttered to himself, "Could this be the 'Vicious Dog of Kuran'?"
Riding his horse, the barbarian man took off his hard bow from his back and took out a long arrow wrapped in oilcloth from the quiver at his waist.
Huggins watched the other person's actions carefully, and his doubts slowly grew.
What is this guy trying to do?
Suddenly, a strange smell in the air interrupted his thoughts.
Following the scent, Huggins looked down from the city wall and saw the corpses of the four poisonous iron crocodiles killed by the knights rapidly decomposing, releasing large amounts of gas into the air.
"The Vicious Dog of Kuran" took out a flint and steel, lit the oilcloth on the arrow, nocked the long arrow onto the bow, and slowly drew the bowstring taut.
It turns out that the barbarian army's vanguard was bait, and the war beast horde was also bait. The enemy's real purpose was to send these giant beasts, whose bodies were filled with explosive gases, to the foot of the city wall!
Having finally understood everything, Huggins felt as if his scalp was about to explode. He shouted at the bewildered knights around him, "Get off the walls! Everyone! Get off the walls!"
Boom!
The sound of a bowstring ripping through the air rang out.
The world seemed to slow down, the flaming arrows slowly spun forward, Huggins roared with all his might, and panic began to appear on the faces of the Twilight Knights soldiers. Everything began to move along its predetermined path.
Two seconds later, the rocket pierced the behemoth's body, the violent explosion tearing apart the city walls and the earth, and towering flames engulfing the entire defensive line. Blood and limbs rained down around the fortress, making it look like a giant "meat grinder" from the air.
The ancient horns of the barbarians rang out on the battlefield, and thousands of warriors let out bloodthirsty battle cries. A destructive force surged toward the collapsed walls of the North Stone Fortress.
