Todd glanced at the top of Rachel's head, recalling the "Resurrection Worm" in the iron box, and suddenly wondered what this woman was like before she took over Mia's body.
Rachel is now a rare beauty in terms of both appearance and temperament. But Todd simply cannot imagine what she looked like in the past.
Perhaps she was very ordinary-looking, her voice wasn't as beautiful as it is now, and her figure was perhaps quite plump...
etc!
Todd suddenly remembered something chilling: Could Rachel have been a man before?!
She only said that she and Mia were good friends, but never mentioned her past gender.
Todd screamed inwardly, "Oh my god! If she (he) really is a man! I've done so many disgusting things with this person, played so many shameful poses..."
Seeing the uncertain expression on Todd's face, Rachel assumed that he was shocked by Mia's situation, so she explained, "I didn't tell you about Mia before because I didn't know how to bring it up."
Todd composed himself and nodded calmly: "Anyone would find it difficult to speak up about something like this."
After an awkward silence, Rachel and Todd drank, unsure of what to say, each lost in their own thoughts.
After finishing a can of beer, Rachel suddenly asked Todd, "That world has advanced theories and advanced science, so can you tell me what the soul really is?"
Todd was a little surprised by the question. After thinking for a while, he said helplessly, "To be honest, I don't know."
"In your omnipotent world, is there no definitive answer regarding the soul?"
"That's right. Even in my world, the soul is an unsolved mystery. But from a philosopher's perspective, the soul, by definition, should include two main aspects: logic and memory."
Ritchie stopped in his tracks: "Philosophy? Logic and memory?"
"This is a theory I heard from a philosophy professor: if humans possess a soul, then it should contain two major components: logic in a broad sense and memory. Logic in a broad sense includes thinking orientation, value ethics, and decision-making methods; while memory in a broad sense includes life experiences and the recognition of truth."
Rachel shook her head: "It sounds complicated. Are these all the professor's theories?"
Todd stroked his chin, recalling his past elective course days, and said uncertainly, "If I remember correctly, these theories came from a scholar named Hegel."
Rachel bit her lip, hesitated for a long time, and then suddenly asked a strange question: "If an evil person, for some purpose, created a copy of her, would the soul of that copy also be evil?"
Rachel's words had completely stunned Todd.
“I’m sorry, Rachel, this involves too many specialized disciplines, including genetics, physiology… and the soul itself is something no one understands, so I can’t give you a precise answer.”
Frustrated, Rachel threw the can in her hand onto the table, stood up, and wanted to leave the soul space.
Remembering the "Resurrection Worm" and the other party's identity, Todd said, "Rachel, there are some things I want to ask you..."
"Todd, I'm sorry, I'm really in a bad mood right now, I'm afraid I can't answer your question..."
Looking at Rachel's pale face, Todd swallowed back the words that were on the tip of his tongue.
Todd nodded to Rachel and said, "Get some rest. We'll talk again next time."
Rachel's figure disappeared into the space.
After finishing his beer in the research institute, Todd looked at the empty room and sighed.
Back in the real world, Todd watched as Rachel pushed open the door and quietly left, then called for Hudgens, who was waiting at the door.
“Your Majesty, you don’t look well. What happened?” Hudgens asked Todd with some concern.
Todd gestured for the other person not to worry and then asked, "How are the preparations for the Protestant founding ceremony going?"
"The overall layout of the cathedral is complete, the exegetical books on doctrine have been printed, and the list of Protestant members has been finalized..."
"Have the invitations for the ceremony been sent out?"
When Todd brought it up, Huggins hesitated slightly before answering: "Seven hundred invitations were sent out a month ago..."
"What's the feedback like?"
"There were 130 confirmed responses, the vast majority of which came from scholars, chambers of commerce, and clergy..."
Todd frowned and asked, "What about the secular royal family's reply?"
As Huggins spoke, he glanced cautiously at Todd's expression: "There are only two copies, one from Queen Mary of St. Guard City, and the other from Regent Jennings of Lone Rock City."
Upon hearing an unexpected name, Todd's interest was immediately piqued: "Lone Rock City?"
Huggins nodded and said, "Jennings replied that, since the Queen of Lone Rock is still young, he will attend the Protestant founding ceremony in his personal capacity."
"Still young? And his personal status?" Todd gave a helpless bitter smile: "This Jennings is good at shirking responsibility. He doesn't want to offend the church, but he also wants to curry favor with us."
At this moment, Huggins added, "Your Majesty, I think you don't need to worry about the attitude of the secular kingdoms at all. We have just won the Battle of Holy City, and the results of the war have not yet spread. Once the secular kingdoms know everything, they will naturally know which side to take."
