Chapter 144 The Abbot is Missing

The X-ray vision talisman was still lying nearby, and Gu Xicheng knew what Lu Qing had just done with just one glance.

He couldn't help but rub his forehead and grit his teeth inwardly. How had he ever discovered Qingqing's hidden lecherous nature before?

Gu Xicheng kissed Lu Qing hard on the lips, then gently rubbed her reddened ear and chuckled:

"You little rascal, hurry up and change your clothes. After we finish our business, I'll let you see as much as you want tonight!"

Like a naughty child caught doing something wrong, Lu Qing shrank back and went into the bathroom to change clothes.

When she came out, Gu Xicheng was already dressed.

But her gaze kept drifting downwards, her expression a mixture of curiosity and fear that made Gu Xicheng both amused and exasperated.

He walked over and stuffed the freshly peeled egg into Lu Qing's mouth:

"Eat your food properly and stop thinking nonsense!"

Lu Qing turned and went into the bathroom, splashed cold water on her face, and forced herself to put those messy thoughts behind her.

"Think about Level 4! Think about the Heart-Suppressing Stone! Lu Qing, you're here to handle serious business, not to deal with Gu Xicheng!"

Lu Qing let out a heavy sigh, and after leaving, his eyes were as determined as if he were about to join the Party.

"Alright! Let's head to Jinshan Temple!"

"Um!"

Gu Xicheng found a car and drove Lu Qing there.

Because it was Saturday, Jinshan Temple was crowded with tourists.

Gu Xicheng bought two tickets, and only then were the two of them allowed to enter.

There are far fewer monks in Jinshan Temple now; almost everyone there is a tourist, and there are hardly any monks.

Lu Qing finally found a monk:

"Young monk, may I ask who the abbot of Jinshan Temple is now? We need to speak with him about something!"

The monk bowed slightly: "Amitabha, the current abbot's Dharma name is Huiyi. May I ask what business you have with the abbot?"

“We want to ask him about the whereabouts of the Heart-Soothing Stone,” Lu Qing said.

"A calming stone? What is that?" the monk asked, puzzled.

"It's a long story. Could you please tell us where the abbot is?" Lu Qing asked.

Monk: "Amitabha, I am truly sorry, esteemed benefactors, the abbot is not currently in the temple."

"If he's not in the temple, then where is he?" Lu Qing asked.

The monk said, "Recently, evil spirits have been appearing near Jinshan Temple at night. My master went to look for the evil spirits last night and has not returned today."

Upon hearing this, Lu Qing frowned slightly:

"Do you have a way to contact the abbot?"

The monk sighed and shook his head:

“This morning, my senior brother called the abbot, but he hasn’t been able to get through yet. Just now, my senior brother went to the police station to report the case, hoping that the police would send someone to help find the abbot.”

Lu Qing pondered for a moment, then said:

"Could you give me one of the abbot's personal belongings? Perhaps I can find him!"

The monk paused for a moment, hesitated, and then said:

"Please wait a moment, benefactor, I will go and ask my senior brother."

After the monk left, Lu Qing and Gu Xicheng waited in the same spot.

Before long, the monk returned, accompanied by an older-looking monk.

"Senior brother, it's the one they said had a way to find the abbot!"

The monk walked up to Lu Qing and Gu Xicheng, put his hands together, and bowed.

"Amitabha Buddha, this humble monk is Jueming. May I ask if you two benefactors have any way to find my master?"

Lu Qing nodded slightly:

“Master, my name is Lu Qing, a disciple of the Xuanmen sect. Yu Hengzi of Qingyun Temple on Yutai Mountain is my master.”

Jueming was somewhat surprised: "You are the disciple of the Old Celestial Master of Qingyun Temple!"

Lu Qing: "Does Master Jueming know my master?"

Jueming smiled slightly:

"The Celestial Master of the Celestial Master Sect is known to everyone in the Xuanmen (Taoist sect). Although I have never seen the Celestial Master's face in person, I have heard of his name."

"If you really are the Old Celestial Master's disciple, then my master should be saved."

These words made Lu Qing frown again:

"What does Master Jueming mean by that? Could it be that the abbot..."

Jueming sighed heavily:

“Last night, when my master went out to look for that evil spirit, he told me that if he didn’t come back, I shouldn’t go looking for him.”

"I felt something was wrong with my master at that time, and I think he had a premonition that things were going to turn out badly."

Lu Qing: "It's okay! As long as we haven't seen it with our own eyes, there's still hope!"

"Could you give me one of the abbot's personal items? I'd like to use magic to find him!"

Jueming took a sock out of his pocket and handed it over:

"These are the socks Master wore, is that alright?"

Lu Qing's expression changed slightly: "It's possible, but why do you keep the abbot's socks close to your body?"

Jueming smiled somewhat awkwardly:

"Um... This morning I went to collect Master's dirty clothes to wash, but I accidentally forgot them in my pocket. Then I was busy looking for Master and forgot about them."

Lu Qing didn't take the smelly sock, but instead took out a paper dog cut from yellow paper from his pocket and let it sniff it.

Once the abbot's scent was identified, the paper dog began to search along the scent.

"Master Jueming, let's follow it!"

"good!"

Lu Qing, Gu Xicheng, and Jueming followed the paper dog out of Jinshan Temple and walked along the street.

It took a full hour, nearly ten miles, before the paper dog finally stopped.

The paper dog lay on Lu Qing's palm, gesturing and barking, talking for a while.

“What is this dog saying, benefactor? Has it found its master?” Jueming asked.

Lu Qing frowned and replied, "It said that the abbot's scent disappeared here, and it also smelled a bloody odor."

“So my master… he really…” Jueming’s eyes trembled slightly, and his eyes turned red.

Just then, the paper dog suddenly ran to the wall of the abandoned house next door, sniffed it, and then barked at Lu Qing.

Lu Qing hurried over:

"You mean there's a problem here?"

The paper dog nodded.

Lu Qing took a few steps back and glanced at the entire mansion.

This is an old house that has been abandoned for many years. The walls are covered with wild vegetation, and there are spider webs hanging on the gate.

The abbot's aura disappeared here. There's still a problem with the house. Could he be trapped inside?

Lu Qing looked around and, seeing no one, leaped over the wall.

Immediately afterwards, Lu Qing's scream came from inside:

"Ah!! Help!"

"Qingqing!"

In his haste, Gu Xicheng kicked the door open and rushed inside.

"Qingqing, what's wrong?"

Lu Qing was so anxious that he kept pacing around in place while saying:

"There's a bug! A bug fell into my clothes!"

"Don't move, I'll help you get it out!"

Gu Xicheng put one arm around Lu Qing and reached inside her collar with the other to grab the bugs.

Suddenly, Gu Xicheng grabbed some part of his body and froze, as did Lu Qing.

The two of them froze for a few seconds before they came to their senses.

"Hurry up and get the bug out!" Lu Qing said urgently, her face flushed.

"Okay! Great!"

Gu Xicheng picked up the dark beetle and tossed it aside, and Lu Qing finally breathed a sigh of relief.

"Ugh~ What a disgusting bug!"

Gu Xicheng coughed lightly, then buttoned up Lu Qing's shirt.

"Are you two alright?" Jueming stepped forward to inquire.

The two answered somewhat awkwardly, "It's nothing."

Lu Qing looked at the house in front of him, and his brows suddenly furrowed:

"Strange! Something feels off!"

No sooner had he finished speaking than a gust of cold wind blew in, and the world suddenly changed. The old wooden door in the courtyard was blown open by the wind and crashed against the wall with a thud.
