Chapter 379 Who is the spy?

Li Hui sent everyone away, only telling Lu Qing and Gu Xicheng, which meant that he could only trust the two of them.

"Uncle Li, are you so sure that we're not spies?" Lu Qing asked with a smile.

Li Hui: "I'm not entirely sure, but if you two are spies, then we'll have no choice but to surrender to the Li Clan. What's the point of playing this game then!"

Lu Qing and Gu Xicheng are their greatest assets in dealing with the Li Clan.

If it really is either of them, or even just one of them, then we're doomed!

"What about your brother? You don't even trust your brother?" Gu Xicheng asked.

Li Hui shook his head slightly: "During this special period, I can't completely trust anyone except you."

Gu Xicheng: "So how do we catch this spy?"

Li Hui shook his head: "We don't know yet. We don't even know why he kidnapped Jian Yunxing."

If Jian Yunxing hadn't had his cultivation abolished before, rescuing him might have made him a helpful person, but now Jian Yunxing is just a cripple.

He's no longer qualified to cultivate, so what's the point of capturing him?

If the spy's mission is simply to rescue Jian Yunxing, then remain silent.

He hid so well before, so he won't be easily discovered now, so everything he does is in vain.

"Have you checked the bureau's surveillance footage?" Lu Qing asked.

Li Hui nodded: "We checked, but found nothing."

"Didn't the surveillance cameras in Jian Yunxing's cell capture anything either?" Lu Qing asked, frowning.

Li Hui didn't say anything, but simply showed Lu Qing the surveillance footage.

The screen went black for five seconds, and when the monitor came back on, Jian Yunxing was gone.

"The surveillance cameras have been tampered with and didn't capture anything."

Gu Xicheng: "Have the other surveillance cameras been tampered with?"

Li Hui shook his head: "No, there are at least twenty surveillance cameras from the cell to the investigation bureau, and many more are hidden in places that can't be seen. It's unlikely that they would tamper with them all."

"That means this person took Jian Yunxing away on a road without surveillance cameras," Gu Xicheng said.

"Does the Investigation Bureau have roads like this?"

Li Hui frowned, thought for a moment, and then suddenly looked up at the ventilation duct above his head.

"There really is!"

Li Hui removed the cover from the ventilation duct.

The pipe was really narrow; even if Lu Qing crawled inside, it would be very difficult for him to move.

However, if you know how to shrink your bones, leaving here won't be difficult.

“There is a ventilation duct entrance outside Guan Jianyunxing’s cell that leads directly to the elevator shaft. From the elevator shaft, you go down to the first floor, and then from the ventilation duct entrance on the first floor, you can go outside. There is no way this route could be monitored.”

Li Hui immediately led the two men to check the ventilation ducts outside Jian Yunxing's cell.

Gu Xicheng reached out and touched it; there wasn't a speck of dust.

"Director Li guessed right. They did come out through the ventilation ducts, and all the dust inside was wiped clean."

Lu Qing: "Uncle Li, how many people know about ventilation ducts?"

Li Hui shook his head:

"The tunnel went down more than 40 meters deep. The city's heating and drainage systems all pass through here, so the ventilation ducts have to avoid those pipes. The route is very complicated, and you can easily end up in a dead end if you're not careful."

Even with the ability to shrink one's bones, turning around is not an easy task, so this person must be very familiar with the layout of the ventilation ducts.

And he most likely obtained the Bureau of Investigation's architectural blueprints.

Lu Qing: "Where can I get these blueprints?"

Li Hui: "The bureau has a copy, which is locked in the archives. You have to sign and register to borrow it."

The construction bureau should also have a copy, but obtaining those blueprints is much more difficult.

Gu Xicheng: "Let's first check the list of people who recently went to the archives to borrow materials and see if we can find anything!"

"Okay! I'll have someone send it over right away."

Li Hui immediately called the people in the archives.

After receiving the call, the person immediately went to find the borrowing registration list.

He had just found it when there was a knock on the door:

"Xiao Cen, what are you doing? I've come to get Jian Yunxing's file."

Xiao Cen looked up and saw it was Wang Yanjun, immediately putting on a smile:

"Captain Wang, the documents and evidence are all on the back shelf. Please find what you need yourself, and remember to register it!"

"Okay, you go ahead with your work, I'll find it myself."

As Wang Yanjun spoke, he walked inside, but his peripheral vision caught sight of the list of people Xiao Cen was taking photos of.

What are you filming?

Xiao Cen: "It was the bureau chief. He asked me to take a picture of the registration list and send it to him."

"What does the director need the list for?" Wang Yanjun asked.

Xiao Cen: "I don't know about that."

Wang Yanjun narrowed his eyes slightly, then said loudly:

"Xiao Cen, it seems like Jian Yunxing's file is missing a page?"

Upon hearing this, Xiao Cen immediately ran over:

"No way! How could there be a page missing!"

Taking advantage of this moment, Wang Yanjun quietly moved to the table and loosened the screws on the thermos cup.

"Captain Wang, none of them are missing! They were like this when they were delivered!"

Wang Yanjun: "Really? Then I remembered wrong! I'm sorry!"

"It's alright, please continue reading!"

Xiao Cen was about to go back to continue taking pictures of the list when her foot suddenly slipped, and she tripped and fell onto the table.

He was fine, but he knocked over his thermos.

The water inside spilled out, soaking the register of names.

Wang Yanjun quickly went to help him up: "Xiao Cen, are you alright? How could you be so careless?"

Xiao Cen disregarded her own safety and quickly rescued the booklet from the water.

"Fortunately, the paper is thick enough. Although the words are a bit smudged, it doesn't affect readability."

Xiao Cen breathed a sigh of relief and quickly wiped the water stains off with a paper towel.

Just as he was about to continue filming, Wang Yanjun stopped him:

"If you don't want to get scolded, you'd better not slap it like that."

"But the bureau chief is waiting for it!"

Wang Yanjun: "Are you stupid? There are backup files on that computer. Why don't you just send him the ones on the computer?"

"If the bureau chief sees you've dirtied this booklet, with his temper, he'll give you a real dressing down!"

Xiao Cen suddenly slapped her forehead: "Oh right! How could I forget that there's a backup list on the computer?"

"I'll send the list over right away."

Xiao Cen immediately went to operate the computer.

What he didn't notice was that Wang Yanjun quietly tore off a page from the list, crumpled it up, and stuffed it into his pocket.

"Xiao Cen, you're busy, I'm leaving!"

Xiao Cen: "Hey, Captain Wang, take care!"

Wang Yanjun walked out of the archives room, took out a cigarette from his pocket, and put it in his mouth.

Just as I was about to light it, the lighter wouldn't ignite.

Just then, Gu Xicheng suddenly appeared and handed him a lighter:

"Hey bro, let's talk!"

Wang Yanjun paused for a moment, then lit a cigarette and took a deep drag.

"What's there to talk about!"

Gu Xicheng raised his hand, and a small paper figure stepped out of the archives and jumped into his palm:

“I saw everything you just did.”

"We can still talk now, but we might not be able to talk later."

"Okay, let me finish this cigarette first."

Wang Yanjun slowly puffed on his cigarette, while Gu Xicheng waited quietly.

After the cigarette burned out, he threw the butt into the trash can.

Let's go!

As Gu Xicheng turned around, Wang Yanjun's eyes darkened, and he suddenly pressed a gun against Gu Xicheng's back.
