The two people on the bed were still discussing how to transfer their assets, and the bearded man heard everything clearly.
He stood there, stunned, his face filled with disbelief.
"Why? Why did she betray me? I loved her so much!"
Lu Qing reminded him:
"Maybe you should worry about your possessions right now!"
The bearded man then realized what was happening.
If he loses his wife and then his property, he will truly have nothing left.
He was about to leave when Lu Qing hurriedly stopped him:
"Can you leave your ticket first?"
"Okay!"
The bearded man shoved his ticket into Lu Qing's hand, then hurriedly boarded a small boat and left.
Lu Qing held up the ballot and asked loudly:
"Who's next?"
With the bearded man as a precedent, everyone on the ship grabbed their tickets and rushed to have their fortunes told.
An hour later, Lu Qing's hands were stuffed full of tickets, but Liu Manyun was too tired to speak.
"Is it okay to end the show here? We're so tired!"
Upon hearing this, those who hadn't gotten a turn had no choice but to give up.
Lu Qing and Liu Manyun received a total of forty tickets, seven more than expected.
They are undoubtedly the winners today.
"I swear, I've never told more fortunes in my entire life than I have today!" Liu Manyun slumped in her chair as if she had lost her soul.
Lu Qing gave her a pill to help her recover her energy.
The moment Lu Qing's fingers touched her lips, she was completely revitalized.
"My idol personally fed me my medicine! I'm so happy!"
Liu Manyun paced back and forth excitedly, showing no trace of her earlier dejected state, leaving everyone speechless.
At this moment, a waiter came over:
"Ladies and gentlemen, Mr. Dalles, please!"
Lu Qing raised an eyebrow:
"It seems our efforts weren't in vain!"
The waiter led them to the top deck of the cruise ship, a place exclusively for the ship's owners.
The space wasn't as big as the deck, but it wasn't small either; it was very luxurious, with one room and the rest of the area dedicated to the restaurant.
The restaurant has a huge table, which I estimate to be at least fifteen meters long.
Next to the dining table is a huge open kitchen where more than twenty chefs from various countries are preparing food.
Even Gu Xicheng was slightly surprised when he saw this.
"Making such a big fuss on a cruise ship just for a meal, Mr. Dahls must be quite the gourmand!"
He had barely finished speaking when a slightly aged voice came:
"A gourmand? I like that title!"
The crowd looked in the direction of the sound and saw an elderly man, who looked to be in his sixties, sitting in a wheelchair and being pushed out by a young girl.
"Are you Mr. Dals? The owner of this cruise ship?" Gu Xicheng asked.
The old man smiled and nodded: "Yes, I am Dars."
Although the old man looked like a foreigner, he spoke fluent Chinese, which didn't seem like he had learned it. He had a slight Beijing accent, as if he had grown up in Kyoto.
"Hello, Mr. Gu, I've heard so much about you!" Darss said with a smile.
Gu Xicheng narrowed his eyes slightly: "You know me?"
Dars: "Although I have been retired for a long time, I am not completely unaware of the news. Mr. Gu's business is very large, so I have naturally heard about it."
"Your Mandarin is really good!" Gu Xicheng praised.
Dals: "Thank you! My mother is from Kyoto, and I lived there with her for a while when I was a child."
Just then, the chef came over carrying a plate of freshly made, exquisite appetizers:
"Sir, we may begin!"
Dars nodded slightly:
"Please, everyone, have a seat! Don't be so formal, you are honored guests, please make yourselves at home!"
The servants pulled out chairs and invited them to sit down.
Soon, the chef placed the pre-meal snacks in front of everyone.
A large plate held a few small, peeled plum tomatoes; they tasted quite good, but the portion was too small.
Lu Qing finished the food in one bite; it wasn't even enough to fill a gap between her teeth, and the more she ate, the hungrier she became.
Seeing this, Gu Xicheng silently pushed his plate over, only touching one piece, while the rest went to Lu Qing.
Gu Fei doesn't like sour food, so she only tasted one before handing it to Lu Qing.
Mr. Dahls couldn't help but laugh out loud upon seeing this:
Are you all dissatisfied with this appetizer?
Gu Xicheng replied with a smile:
"No, my fiancée has a good appetite. Could you please ask the chef to hurry up?"
Mr. Darls looked at Lu Qing, smiled rather helplessly, and then said to the girl beside him:
"Julie, bring this lady some bread before the meal."
The female assistant nodded immediately, then brought over a large piece of bread with cheese on it.
"The chef needs to prepare each dish with care and must be given enough time to make the most delicious food, so Miss, you'll have to have some bread for now."
Lu Qing smiled and said, "I don't mind, the bread is quite delicious."
Despite saying that, Lu Qing's eyes were fixed on the beef that the chef across from her was stir-frying.
She would rather eat meat than bread.
However, the chef was quite fast, and soon served them tender and juicy steaks.
At Dals's instruction, they served Lu Qing two portions, with the meat being the largest piece available.
"Thank you!" Lu Qing said to Darss somewhat shyly.
Dars smiled:
"It's okay! My mother always tells me that being able to eat is a blessing."
"Our food should not only be delicious and beautiful, but more importantly, it should satisfy the people who eat it. Satisfaction is the greatest respect we can show to a chef."
Lu Qing was starting to like the old man.
Although he appears to be a bit of a perfectionist, somewhat like a difficult old man, he is not pedantic; he only focuses on his own refinement and does not demand anything of others.
"If there's anything you'd like to eat, just tell the chef. We have plenty of fresh ingredients, and we can make it right away."
Dars watched them eat, but ate very little himself; the portions the chef served him were barely a small bite each.
During a break from eating, Lu Qing glanced at the old man's face and realized that the old man's health seemed to be a little abnormal.
Noticing that Lu Qing was looking at him, Darss looked up and smiled back:
"Young lady, I just heard that you were telling fortunes down there? I'd like to ask, is that true?"
Lu Qing nodded: "Of course it's true."
Dars: "Then could you calculate how much longer I have to live?"
