Chapter 53 Li Dahai's Past

The kitten was only a few months old. Li Dahai's kick was quite heavy. If it had fallen to the ground, it would have been seriously injured, if not killed.

At the critical moment, Lu Qing quickly grabbed an empty plate from the side and threw it over.

The kitten was stopped in mid-air by an empty plate, which prevented it from getting hurt when it landed, and it ran away as fast as it could.

Li Dahai was furious upon seeing this:

"Who the hell is meddling in other people's business!"

After Li Dahai finished cursing, he turned around and saw Lu Qing. His brows furrowed, and just as he was about to step forward, he saw Gu Xicheng next to her and stopped in his tracks.

Lu Qingqing finally understood: this guy was a bully who preyed on the weak!

Just then, the proprietress heard the meowing and quickly came out. The kittens immediately surrounded her feet and meowed, as if they were complaining.

Her face darkened instantly upon seeing Li Dahai:

"Li Dahai, you're trying to kill my cat again! I'm warning you, if you come to the store and cause trouble again, I'll call the police and have you arrested!"

Li Dahai was not afraid at all; on the contrary, he said disdainfully:

"Call the police? Go ahead and call them if you dare! Even if I kill these beasts, the police won't do anything to me!"

The proprietress was so angry that her hands were shaking.

There were customers eating in the shop, and she didn't want to do anything, but Li Dahai still wanted to hurt her cat.

"You little beast, I'll kill you!"

The proprietress couldn't take it anymore and grabbed a broom from the side, hitting the broom hard.

"Get out! Get out of here! You're not welcome in my shop!"

Li Dahai was hit a few times, then left cursing.

The proprietress was so angry she was panting heavily.

Lu Qing poured her a glass of water: "Sister, don't be angry, drink some water!"

Coming to her senses, the proprietress smiled apologetically and said:

"I'm so sorry to have disturbed your meal!"

"Everyone here today will receive a free braised egg, and the noodles will be 20% off."

The customers who come here are all familiar with the proprietress, and they don't approve of Li Dahai's behavior, so they don't make a fuss about it.

The proprietress was about to return to the kitchen when Lu Qing stopped her:

"Sister, can I ask you something?"

"Young lady, what is it? Tell me!"

"Do you know that Li Dahai?" Lu Qing asked.

Mentioning Li Dahai, the proprietress's face turned angry again:

"That's right! He used to be my neighbor!"

Lu Qing: "Then why did he come to your shop to cause trouble? And judging from your tone, this shouldn't be his first time here!"

The proprietress sighed, looking at the group of kittens at her feet:

"It's all because of these little guys I'm raising."

Lu Qing frowned slightly: "Does he hate cats that much? He can't even stand other people's cats!"

Upon hearing this, the proprietress pursed her lips and explained:

"Actually, he didn't always hate cats this much!"

“Li Dahai was originally a nice person. When I first moved across from his house, he and his son even helped me move my things!”

"Do you know why he hates cats?" Lu Qing asked, her eyes full of curiosity.

The proprietress was also a big mouth, and seeing how curious Lu Qing was, she told her everything.

Li Dahai hates cats entirely because of the death of his son.

Li Dahai's wife passed away a long time ago, and his parents are also gone. He only has one son to depend on for survival.

He acted as both father and mother, and with great difficulty, he raised his son to the age of eighteen.

His son also lived up to his expectations and was admitted to Kyoto University. For this, he even quit his original job and became a cafeteria worker at Kyoto University.

However, their peaceful and happy life was disrupted by a cat.

That day, Li Dahai's son picked up a stray kitten from outside. Although he didn't really like it, his son insisted on keeping it, so he agreed.

Li Dahai's son was scratched while playing with the dog. Li Dahai thought the rabies vaccine was too expensive, so he told him to just rinse it with water.

Who knew the kitten hadn't been vaccinated and had already contracted rabies?

By the time Li Dahai realized something was wrong with his son, it was too late.

Rabies has a near 100% fatality rate; there is no chance of recovery.

After his son died, Li Dahai became a completely different person.

Whenever they see a cat, they will try every means to capture it and torture it, even the pet cats of other people.

Coincidentally, the owner is a cat lover who has rescued many stray cats.

After being discovered by Li Dahai, he tried every means to kill the cats, even attempting to poison their food, but fortunately the proprietress discovered it.

After the police were called, Li Dahai was only detained for a few days before being released.

The shop owner was afraid he would harm the kittens again, so she moved away. But he actually came to the shop and started causing trouble from time to time.

"Actually, Li Dahai is also a pitiful person. He finally raised his son with great difficulty, but he was the one who had to bury his son!"

The proprietress sighed and reached out to stroke her cats:

“The biggest fear for stray cats is getting infected with viruses or parasites. I even advised Li Dahai to take the kitten to the vet for a check-up before keeping it, but the father and son were reluctant to spend the money and didn’t go. Who knew that by such a coincidence, the cat would get rabies.”

"Fate is cruel!"

Lu Qing carefully sorted out Li Dahai's affairs and found a key figure in his entanglement with the cat—Li Dahai's son.

"Sister, do you know what Li Dahai's son's name is?"

The proprietress thought for a moment and replied:

"His name seems to be Li Mingzhe."

"Why are you asking this?" the landlady asked, puzzled.

Lu Qing smiled and said, "It's nothing, I was just asking."

After the landlady left, Lu Qing called Wang Yanjun and asked him to investigate this Li Mingzhe.

Her intuition told her that the dead person and the missing body must have some connection.

After finishing their noodles, Gu Xicheng and Lu Qing searched for pet shops near the university town.

There were only two pet stores nearby. Lu Qing compared the scents of the pet shampoo from both stores and finally decided on the one that the cat demon had visited.

"Boss, could you help us identify what kind of cat this tuft of cat hair belongs to?"

Lu Qing placed the tuft of cat hair in front of the shopkeeper, who waved it away impatiently.

"There are so many cats with similar fur, how could I possibly tell them apart!"

Lu Qing and Gu Xicheng exchanged a glance, and Gu Xicheng immediately took out his phone and transferred two hundred yuan to them.

"Now you can tell me!"

Upon seeing the money, the boss immediately beamed with joy.

"Let me see!"

The shopkeeper picked up the tuft of cat fur and looked at it: "This tuft of fur is pure black, with some black and white mixed in, like a tuxedo cat."

Lu Qing: "This tuft of fur smells like the pet shampoo from your shop. Think about it, have any black and white cats been here recently?"

The boss thought for a moment, then took out a booklet and flipped through it:

"Wait a moment, let me check."

A moment later, the boss exclaimed, "Found it!"

"Last month, a black and white cat was indeed brought in for a bath. That little guy was so smart and well-behaved, he seemed to understand human emotions. Of all the cats I've bathed, he was the best-behaved!"

"Do you know who owns this calico cat?" Lu Qing asked.

The boss rubbed his hands together, looking troubled.

"Young lady, under normal circumstances, we do not disclose our guests' privacy."

Seeing this, Gu Xicheng transferred another two hundred over:

"Can you reveal it now?"

The boss beamed again: "I usually don't disclose this information, except in special circumstances!"

After obtaining the cat owner's phone number, Lu Qing didn't call. Instead, he found the address and went directly there.
