Chapter 51

As evening approached, the warm orange sunset glow filled the entire farmyard, and the air was filled with the rich aroma of food.

Mother Wang in the kitchen prepared all the food and shouted, "It's time to eat, Xiaolei, move the table out."

Wang Lei responded with a smile, and together with Tang Lun, they moved the wooden table from the main room to the small courtyard.

Mother Wang brought out the clear and fragrant old hen soup, and Huo Shen and the others also served dishes and took bowls and chopsticks.

In a short while, the wooden table was filled with delicious food. Everyone sat around the table and had dinner together.

At this moment, everyone seemed to have forgotten that it was the end of the world. Everyone felt only the excitement and warmth.

Mother Wang filled a bowl with fragrant chicken soup, put the fresh and tender chicken legs in the bowl, and then placed it in front of Sangsang. She smiled happily and said, "You are such a pretty girl. Come and try the chicken soup made by your auntie and see if it tastes good."

After saying that, she glanced at Wang Lei and continued with anticipation, "I really hope that the daughter Xiaolei will give birth to in the future, the Wang family's granddaughter will be as pretty as this little girl, then I will be satisfied."

"Mom, what are you talking about? I don't have a girlfriend and I'm not married, but you're already thinking about having a granddaughter?" Wang Lei's ears turned red with embarrassment. He was simply socially dead.

Everyone at the table couldn't help laughing as they listened to Mother Wang's nagging and Wang Lei's rebuttal. They just felt that this family got along very easily and comfortably.

After everyone finished their meal, it was getting dark. Father and Mother Wang asked Sang Chi and his family to stay overnight and leave the next day.

The whole family was very enthusiastic, and it was hard for Huo Shen and his friends to refuse their kindness, so they agreed without much hesitation.

There were many empty rooms in the three-story building, so Mother Wang happily made beds for them and took out the softest quilt in the house, fearing that they would not sleep comfortably.

At night, everyone was preparing to go back to their rooms to sleep. Sangsang took Wang Yun's hand and said softly, "Brother, I want to sleep with Sister Xiaoyun."

Before dinner, the two girls chatted about everything and now they have established a very deep friendship, and good friends must sleep together.

Wang Yun rubbed the little tuft of hair on Sangsang's head, nodded with sparkling eyes, and looked at Mother Wang, "Mom, can I sleep with my sister tonight?"

The brothers and Mother Wang looked at the two little girls holding hands. They didn't dare to "separate" them. They all smiled and nodded.

Then Sang Chi reached out and brushed away the loose hair on Sangsang's forehead, and said with a smile, "Sangsang, be a good boy when you go to bed at night."

Sangsang hummed, clenched his little fists, and nodded vigorously, "I will be very good."

Mother Wang also looked at Wang Yun and said with a smile on her face, "Xiao Yun, remember to help your sister tuck in the quilt before going to bed."

Wang Ma knew her daughter well. She never kicked the quilt when she slept and rarely turned over, so she felt very relieved when Xiaoyun took Sangsang to sleep.

Wang Yun nodded and responded happily and crisply, "Mom, don't worry, I will take good care of Sangsang."

After instructing the two little girls, they happily ran back to the house hand in hand.

Lu Ziting looked at Sangsang's back as they happily left with Wang Yun. He curled his lips and smiled, saying, "It seems that Sangsang still needs to play with other children more often. The little guy is so happy now."

Huo Shen smiled and nodded, "On our way north, Sangsang didn't make many friends of his age."

Lu Ziyun exhaled lightly, looked up at the starry night sky, and said softly, "I hope that one day in the future the world can return to peace and stability. Only then can Sangsang have a real childhood."

"I hope this day will come soon," Sang Chi nodded, looking hopeful.

The next morning, the hens in the chicken coop began to cluck. Aunt Wang had already gotten up early and started making a fire to cook.

White smoke billowed out of the chimney, and the sweet aroma of red bean porridge wafted from the kitchen.

Mother Wang cooked a large pot of red bean porridge in a wood-fired pot, spread out a few thin white flour pancakes, and fried a bowl of egg sauce to wrap the pancakes. She also put a bowl of homemade pickled white radish strips that tasted crispy and delicious at the end to relieve the greasiness.

This breakfast was also delicious prepared by Wang's mother.

At the dinner table, everyone couldn't help but give a thumbs up to Mother Wang while eating.

Sang Chi took a bite of the crispy white radish strips. It was so delicious that he squinted his eyes and exclaimed, "Auntie Wang, your cooking skills are amazing! You can even make white radish so delicious!"

"I pickled a big jar of it. If you like it, I'll prepare some for you to take away later," Mother Wang replied happily, smiling from ear to ear at Lu Ziting's praise.

When Sang Chi heard this, he felt embarrassed and quickly waved his hand to refuse, "No, you guys keep it and eat it."

Mother Wang frowned and said in a serious tone, "White radish strips are not a good thing, you must accept them!"

Seeing the domineering aura emanating from Mother Wang, Sang Chi didn't dare to refuse any further and nodded obediently.

Mother Wang smiled, and she spoke in a gentle tone;

"I know you're worried that we don't have enough supplies and won't have anything to eat.

"But we are surrounded by fields, and we are experts in farming. As long as we sow, we will reap the harvest."

"So even in the end times, our Wang family will not be short of food, you can rest assured."

Sang Chi blinked, then he asked in confusion, "Aunt Wang, are you planning to stay put in the future? Don't you want to go to the survivor base?"

"Survivor base?" This was the first time that the Wang family of four heard about the existence of a base, and this time it was their turn to feel confused and curious.

Sang Chi explained it to them and then continued, "We came from the south and went north, and we started from Yuncheng."

"There is an amusement park called Happy City in Cloud City, which is the survivor base."

The clown monster, who is both good and evil, is as playful as a child. As long as he is happy, he will not care about anything else, so he often comes up with strange ideas to let the survivors play with him.

But as long as the Joker doesn't hold zombie reception days, Happy City is still a good place to go.

After all, as an electric-type mutant, he is powerful enough to protect every survivor in Happy City.

"If you want to go to the survivor base in the future, you can consider going south to the Happy City in Yuncheng to find the clown monster," Lu Ziting said, touching his chin.

Then he briefly told the four members of the Wang family about the clown monster, and they couldn't help but widen their eyes.

When Sang Chi saw the expressions of the four people, he guessed that they were definitely not interested in Happy City, and might even be a little afraid of it.

So he thought about it and continued, "Go past Yuncheng and continue south, stop in Jincheng, there is a Beijing Institute of Technology, which is also a base."

"The base is controlled by the school's teachers and students," and then Sang Chi told everything about BIT.

Wang Lei and Wang Yun were fascinated by the description of the base, while Wang's father and mother seemed to lack interest.

Finally, he waved his hand and sighed, "The base is a good place, but it's too far away. Our family of four can just stay together in this small farmyard and the fields outside and live a peaceful and stable life."

If they go south to the base, the journey is long and bad things might happen on the way, so Mr. and Mrs. Wang, who want peace and stability, naturally will not go to the base.

When Wang Lei and Wang Yun heard their parents say this, they nodded.

Although the brother and sister are interested in the "base", it is impossible for them to go there immediately.

"Indeed, as long as the family is reunited, life will be happy no matter where we live," Huo Shen nodded with a smile.

"I think so too, and we can be self-sufficient here, which is no worse than the base," Lu Ziting said. Then he thought of the white rice porridge meals in Happy City. He took a big bite of the egg sauce burrito and said incoherently, "Besides, the food in the base is not as good as what Aunt Wang makes. It's far worse."

Whenever Mother Wang hears someone praising her cooking, she can't help but feel happy.

However, she knew in her heart that these young people told them about the base in order to let them know more about some escape routes. These young people were all very kind-hearted.

Mother Wang smiled, revealing fine wrinkles at the corners of her eyes. She nodded calmly and said, "Thank you for saying this. If we can't make it here in the future, our family will consider moving to the base in the south."

As soon as she finished speaking, Father Wang slurped a mouthful of the sweet and soft red bean porridge and asked curiously, "I heard that you are going to the north. Where are you going?"

"Let's go to Wangyue Mountain," Huo Shen replied. Wangyue Mountain wasn't too far from Gu County, only a four or five hour drive, so Father Wang had certainly heard of it.

"Wangyue Mountain," Mr. Wang muttered, and then he said in surprise as if he had thought of something, "This mountain is not unusual, but there is a Miao village on the mountain. Are you going to the Miao village specifically?"

Huo Shen smiled and nodded, "I've been entrusted by someone, so I need to go."

Father Wang asked worriedly, "Can you get in? I heard that before the end of the world, the Miao village in Wangyue Mountain will not let outsiders in."

"What's more, it's after the end of the world, so the security in the village will definitely be stricter."

"Uncle Wang, don't worry, we have a way to get in," Sang Chi raised his eyebrows and replied with a smile.

The client was Song Jing, who gave Sangsang a silver necklace that every girl in the tribe had and was blessed by the goddess Yangasha.

So before the group prepared to go to the Miao village, they planned to use the silver necklace belonging to Song Jing as an important token of love.

Hearing this, Mr. Wang felt relieved. He sighed with a smile, "You all have important things to do, and we can't keep you here. Otherwise, we really want you to stay a few more days."

"After this separation, I don't know if I will have the chance to see you again in the future."

You and the spring breeze are both passers-by. It is a great fate that we meet each other. What happens next can only be left to the future.

Huo Shen picked up the porcelain bowl of porridge and raised it towards Wang's father as if he was toasting. He smiled and said, "Uncle Wang and Aunt Wang, we will meet again in the future if we are lucky."

Although everyone had known each other for a short time, Mother Wang's eyes were already moist. She raised her hand to wipe the corners of her eyes and nodded with emotion, "It would be great if it wasn't the end of the world now. We could just buy a plane ticket and see you whenever we want."

When everyone present heard Mother Wang’s sigh, they were silent for a moment and couldn’t help but think.

When will the end of the world?

When can we live a peaceful life again? I really hope that day will come soon.

The author has something to say: It is fate that we meet.

Just like the little angels found my writing in Jinjiang Literature City, which has thousands of books, and were willing to read it, it means that we are also destined to be together.
