Chapter 7

The B&B suite where the two brothers stayed was on the fourth floor. The two suites on this floor were bought by the owner and turned into a famous B&B.

Fortunately, there were no guests staying next door before the apocalypse, so it was relatively safe.

Lu Ziyun opened the emergency door of the fire escape. He stood in the stairwell and looked down. It was quiet down there, but blood could be seen sprayed on the steps.

He slowed his breathing, gripped the sharp fire axe tightly, and went downstairs very quietly. Then he looked back at Lu Ziting and gestured to him to "follow him."

Lu Ziyun and Lu Ziting went down from the fourth floor to the third floor without any danger and without encountering any running zombies. They were just about to breathe a sigh of relief.

However, they didn't expect that when they reached the second floor, a woman's scream pierced their eardrums.

Immediately afterwards, the fire door was pushed open with a "bang", and a fat, frightened middle-aged woman escaped from inside, followed by a thin female zombie in cleaning clothes.

When the middle-aged woman saw Lu Ziyun holding a weapon, a strong desire to survive burst out in her eyes. She shouted, "Save me!" and hid behind him in panic.

The corridor was small, and her physique caused Lu Ziting to stagger and hit his back against the wall.

Lu Ziyun frowned, but now was not the time to worry about these things.

When the three of them gathered together, the cleaning zombie rushed over like a cat that had seen fish, drooling and making hoarse roars.

Lu Ziyun raised his leg high and kicked the zombie in the stomach, knocking her to the ground, then chopped her neck with the fire axe.

After a while, the zombie lay on the ground motionless.

When killing the zombies, Lu Ziyun's movements were quick and decisive, his hands didn't even shake, and he didn't look like a novice at all. However, only he knew how nervous he was.

But in order to survive safely with his brother, he cannot be afraid.

Lu Ziyun lowered his eyes and looked at the fallen zombie. After confirming that it was dead, he looked at Lu Ziting who was holding a fire extinguisher, but found that he was in a daze.

"What's wrong? Are you scared silly?" Lu Ziyun was surprised, thinking that his brother shouldn't be so timid.

As soon as he finished speaking, Lu Ziting suddenly came back to his senses, staring at his brother with shining eyes, and exclaimed "Wow, that's awesome!" three times in a row.

"My brother, that's awesome! He knocked the zombie down in one swish! Awesome!" Lu Ziyun was so excited. He didn't expect his brother to be so awesome. He stood nearby with a fire extinguisher, hoping to take the opportunity to help Lu Ziyun knock the zombie's head off, but he didn't get a chance.

Lu Ziyun: “…”

He was too lazy to listen to his brother's nonsense and his eyes fell on the middle-aged woman.

After being rescued, the woman exclaimed in surprise and patted her chest. She looked at the two tall and strong young men in front of her and felt a sense of security. She wanted to hug them.

She smiled eagerly and charmingly: "Thank you, two young men. I wonder what your plans are next. Can you take me with you?"

Lu Ziyun didn't like her shrewd and calculating look and ignored her.

Lu Ziting scratched his head: "We are going downstairs and out of the community now, do you want to come with us?"

There were zombies everywhere outside, and only a fool would go down there. Furthermore, she had just escaped from the zombies and was still in shock, so there was no way she would face those man-eating monsters head-on.

The middle-aged woman's expression changed, she smiled awkwardly, shook her head and waved her hands: "No, no, you guys go, I'm fine staying here."

Lu Ziting nodded, without saying anything more, and went downstairs with his brother, carrying a fire extinguisher in his hand.

When the two brothers disappeared at the stairs, the middle-aged woman curled her lips and said, "The two young men look smart, but they do stupid things. There are so many zombies outside. I think they won't come back alive after they go out."

After muttering to herself, she looked at the dead cleaning zombie and shook her head in dismay. Then she quickly raised her foot, carefully stepped over it, reached out to reopen the second-floor fire door, and planned to go back.

And when she lifted her legs, the loose trouser legs were lifted up, revealing her ankles.

A scratch appeared on the skin, and blood was oozing out.

Chain convenience stores are completely different from small supermarkets. Although they are smaller in size, the shelves are stocked with more merchandise.

Sangsang blinked her big eyes, curiously looking at the various colorful food packaging bags that she didn't recognize, and touched her empty belly.

As an excellent driver, it's understandable that Sangsang is hungry after driving for such a long time.

But she did not take the snacks from the shelf. Instead, she put down the bunny backpack she was carrying, unzipped it, and took out the boiled eggs that Pei Yu had cooked for her.

Sangsang held the round egg in her little hand and banged it hard against her head under the shocked gaze of the system.

With a "click", the eggshell successfully cracked.

Sangsang smiled happily, her bright eyes filled with pride. "Uncle, look! My head is harder than an egg~"

The system was speechless, thinking that any kid with a kindergarten education would know that this is not something to be proud of TVT.

Sangsang sat on a small stool next to the cashier counter, peeled the eggs, and bit them with a whine.

After eating, she wiped her mouth, then took out an egg from the bag and began to crack the shell.

The system looked at Sangsang's slightly bulging belly and asked in confusion: "Can you finish it, kid?"

Sangsang turned her head to look at the clear blue sky outside the glass door. She waved her little hands and replied with sparkling eyes: "I want to feed the talking drone~".

Her only problem was that she had never been to school, and until now she still believed that the drone could talk because it had become a spirit.

The system almost laughed out loud, but he suppressed his laughter and explained:

[Drones can fly and talk because someone is controlling them and transmitting the sound. Therefore, they are not living creatures and cannot eat eggs. Only the person controlling the drone can eat them.]

Sangsang blinked: "Then... when will the owner of the drone come?"

The system said: [Sangsang looked across the street, they were coming.]

Hearing this, Sangsang jumped down from the small stool and ran to the French window. He saw two tall brothers running towards him at an extremely fast speed.

When they got closer, Sangsang saw their faces clearly. Her watery eyes subconsciously widened, and she looked stunned like a little penguin.

"Uncle, why do they look exactly the same? Can they split into two?"

After saying that, Sangsang continued with sparkling eyes, "Uncle, can you clone yourself? I want to learn too~"

No, I can't.

The system looked at Sangsang's face, full of anticipation, and couldn't help but sigh that it was truly terrifying how uneducated the child was. He rubbed his forehead and explained, "Sangsang, these two are twins, not clones."

Sangsang said "Oh" and sighed deeply: "What a pity, I really want to learn how to split myself and create a second Sangsang to accompany Uncle System."

——This...this is totally unnecessary.

Due to their profession, Lu Ziyun and Lu Ziting travel extensively, so their physical fitness is quite good. After going downstairs, the two brothers, with their tacit cooperation, were able to deal with any zombies they encountered in the community without any danger.

Lu Ziyun swung an axe to chop down the security zombie that was circling at the entrance of the community, and Lu Ziting rushed forward with a fire extinguisher and smashed its head.

After solving the problem, the two ran out of the Green Garden Community and went straight to the convenience store across the street.

With a bang, the glass door was pushed open, and Lu Ziyun and Lu Ziting entered the convenience store. They saw a beautiful girl with a bunny backpack on her back, blinking her big, watery eyes and looking at them curiously.

The little girl had clear eyes and eyebrows, and looked pleasing and cute. Her well-behaved appearance touched the hearts of the two brothers.

But Lu Ziyun was still holding the bloody axe, and he was afraid of scaring her if he stepped forward rashly, so he bumped into his brother's shoulder.

Lu Ziting took a step forward and squatted in front of her, smiling as brightly as a flower: "Little sister, I spoke to you through the drone. Do you recognize my voice?"

"I recognize it~" Sangsang nodded.

Lu Ziting nodded, smiled happily, and introduced himself: "My name is Lu Ziting, and the other one is my brother Lu Ziyun. What's your name?"

Sangsang blinked, looked at the two older brothers in front of him who looked exactly the same, and replied in a soft voice, "My name is Sangsang."

After saying that, Sangsang stretched out his clenched little fist, opened his palm, revealing the cracked egg inside: "Big brother, this is for you to eat."

Drones aren't living creatures and can't eat eggs, so Sangsang used his head to crack the boiled eggs and gave them to the older brothers to eat. They can't be wasted.

Lu Ziyun looked at the white and tender eggs in the little girl's hand. He was stunned for a moment, and when he came back to his senses, he felt happy.

He couldn't help but think that after the end of the world, many adults might become bad and unscrupulous in order to survive as described in novels and film and television dramas, but the hearts of children are still clean and pure.

The more Lu Ziyun imagined it, the brighter his eyes became, and his mouth was so happy that it almost stretched to his ears.

Sangsang was confused and blinked blankly.

She thought, since big brother is so happy to have an egg, then Sangsang should just give him an extra one.

Lu Ziyun's eyes swept over his brother and Sangsang who were talking. He unzipped his backpack and quickly put in all kinds of cakes, biscuits, candies and milk from the shelves, filling the backpack until it was full.

"Xiaoting, there's still a lot of food in the supermarket, go get some now," Lu Ziyun said as he picked up a bottle of Wangzai, inserted a straw, and handed it to Sangsang.

Sangsang smelled the sweet milk, stretched out her little hand with trembling eyelashes, took it, and drank it in small sips.

Wangzai, with its sweet, rich and milky flavor, is even more delicious than the peach yogurt Sangsang had tasted in the small supermarket.

After drinking a few sips, Sangsang licked the milk stains on her lips, revealing the sweet dimples on her cheeks, "Thank you, brother."

Lu Ziyun rubbed Sangsang's soft hair, then took her small schoolbag, picked it up in his hand and started filling it with various candies and snacks.

Sangsang held the empty milk carton and tilted her head to watch Lu Ziyun's actions. Then she picked up a bag of rainbow candies that looked delicious and asked, "Brother, can I have this?"

Lu Ziyun lowered his eyes and looked at the little girl with a face full of anticipation. He smiled, took it and put it in her schoolbag.

In a short while, her little schoolbag was stuffed full.

The two brothers and Sangsang all carried a backpack full of food and planned to return to the B&B.

Lu Ziyun held a fire axe and cleared the way ahead.

Lu Ziting bent down and held Sangsang in his arms. The three-year-old girl was so light that she seemed to have no weight. He still walked lightly on the way back.

After carefully avoiding places where there were many zombies, Lu Ziyun and Lu Ziting entered the residential building safely. They breathed a sigh of relief, and their tense nerves relaxed a little.

He opened the fire door and started going upstairs. When he reached the second floor, Lu Ziyun stopped.

All I saw was that there was a corpse of a cleaning zombie lying on the ground, and the middle-aged woman was lying on the ground, not knowing whether she was dead or alive.

He frowned and was about to go forward to check, but he heard Sangsang's puzzled little voice in his ear:

"Brother, is Auntie Zombie too tired, so she's lying on the ground?"
