Chapter 1 Paper Man 01 You seem to have entered the painting...
You're meeting up with friends to go to an art museum.
You are an art student and have always been interested in this kind of things. You are also a well-known painter on the Internet.
The time is set for Saturday.
But before you leave, you receive a call from your friend, who excuses you by saying something urgent happened at home.
You are a little annoyed, but after thinking for a moment, you decide not to let it affect your mood, so you decide to go to the art museum alone.
There are a lot more people in the art museum on weekends than on weekdays, but compared to some other places, it is still much quieter. After all, few children like to visit such places.
You enjoy the quietness, which allows you to immerse yourself in the artistic atmosphere.
The art museum consists of many exhibition areas. You are most interested in paintings, so you follow the guide map to the gallery where hundreds of paintings are displayed.
You stand at the entrance of the corridor. A soft woolen carpet is spread on the ground in front of you. Dim light shines from above. Framed paintings are neatly hung on the red walls on both sides.
What a nice place.
You patiently start viewing the first painting, but as soon as you see the picture clearly, doubts arise in your mind.
This is a landscape painting.
The sky is green, the trees are blue, and the river is red. The river seems to be flowing, with a sticky and heavy texture, slightly weird lines and highly saturated colors, which makes people feel faintly dizzy.
And I don’t know if it’s your illusion, but you always feel like something is secretly watching you.
You attribute this to a poor night's sleep, shake your head to try to wake yourself up, and then move on to the next painting.
The next painting is a still life.
The bread, salad and milk were all moldy, with thick fungi growing on them, making them completely unappetizing. You could almost see the mold swaying on them... This seemed impossible to explain even with superb painting skills.
You have more doubts in your mind.
You look away and try to pull the people around you to see if you are hallucinating. People may indeed have hallucinations when they are under a lot of pressure.
But when you turned around, you found that you were the only one left in this huge corridor.
Your heart can't help but skip a beat.
The feeling of being spied on becomes stronger and stronger, and an absurd idea arises in your mind...
It's not you who are looking at the painting, but the painting that is looking at you.
You have been brave since you were a child. At this moment, you did not feel afraid, but instead felt unprecedented curiosity.
You continue walking forward, trying to find the painting that is peeping at you among the pile of paintings.
Finally, you see a very different painting.
It was a portrait, but it was different from the portraits you had seen before. The "person" in the painting looked very strange, with no facial features, only eyes.
Caught off guard, you met those eyes.
This doesn't look like a painting. The eyeballs look extremely three-dimensional, with a hint of watery light. You can even see your own reflection in those eyes.
Is this the thing that is secretly watching you?
You stare blankly at the eyeball and find that there is no emotion in it. It doesn't look like a human eye, but it doesn't look like the eyes of any living creature either.
Maybe your continued gaze finally aroused the monster's dissatisfaction, and some strange things suddenly grew out of the painting in front of it.
Black things like thin blood vessels protruded from the glass of the picture frame, like plants taking root, sprouting and bearing fruit in the soil. Hanging on each black blood vessel was something similar to a human eyeball, with a small black circle in the middle of the white sphere.
A dense mass of eyeballs slowly approaches your face, creating a terrifying scene that would drive someone with trypophobia crazy. Although you don't have trypophobia, you don't feel well at this moment either.
The "sight" falling on your body is no longer illusory, but becomes more substantial, like a sharp blade peeling off your skin, revealing the flesh and bones hidden beneath the skin one by one.
That is a review from a different perspective.
Even though you know it's all an illusion, it still makes you shudder. A feeling of extreme danger surges into your heart. You feel like you have even forgotten how to breathe at this moment, and a strong feeling of suffocation creeps into your mind.
At the critical moment, you bit the tip of your tongue. The pain made you sober for a moment. You used all your strength to raise one hand, grabbed the eyeball in front of you, and squeezed it.
The surface of the eyeball is smooth and soft, a bit like the squishy toys in real life, with a sticky feel that is very relaxing.
There was a moment of dullness and disbelief in all the "eyeballs" at the same time.
You couldn't help but pinch it a few more times.
With this action of yours, all the strange feelings disappeared instantly.
All the eyeballs quickly retracted into the painting, and the last two retracted black blood vessels were like two hands, turning the frame that was originally hanging frontally over in front of you, leaving you with only the back of the frame.
He looked as if he was angry.
You poked the back of the picture frame again, and the frame silently climbed up another half meter, with an appearance of "keep away from strangers", which was in stark contrast to its terrifying performance just now.
With a weird cuteness.
You interact with paintings frequently and don't feel any awe towards the monster in the painting. You stand on tiptoe and try to pull the frame down again.
However, your extreme behavior seemed to have completely scared the monster, and the picture frame fell directly to the ground with a loud crisp sound.
When you turn the picture frame on the ground over again, you find that the portrait of the person in the painting is different from what you have seen before. The nose is still a nose, the eyes are still eyes, and it is nothing too normal.
The "eyeballs" in the painting have disappeared.
The other paintings in the corridor seemed lifeless, just like ordinary paintings. You looked at each one, trying to find any trace of the many-eyed monster in them, but unfortunately, there was no result.
The only thing you discovered is... you were clearly walking forward, but unknowingly you returned to the starting point. On your left is the painting of "Green Sky, Blue Trees and Red River" again.
You don't believe it and continue walking forward, but half an hour later, you see this extremely familiar painting again.
This should be the legendary "ghost wall", you are trapped in this mysterious gallery.
What should I do about this?
You have no idea what to do about this. All you know is that you can't walk around and waste your energy anymore. You have to think calmly to have any hope of getting out of this predicament.
The only hope seems to lie in the multi-eyed monster seen before.
But you don't know how to find it.
Four more hours have passed, and you are hungry and sleepy. You lean against the wall of the gallery and close your eyes, trying to escape the current situation by sleeping.
However... not long after you closed your eyes, you heard a rustling sound.
The sound is getting closer.
You feel that materialized "sight" again.
Even without opening your eyes, you can guess that the monster has released its tentacles again, and you don't know what it wants to do to you.
Will it eat you?
But if it wants to eat you, it won't have to wait that long.
You opened your eyes, trying to figure out the current situation, but all you saw were dozens of eye tentacles standing there in a daze, then slowly retreating.
"Wait... stop!"
After hearing your words, the black tentacles, which were originally hesitant, shrank faster. You immediately stood up and reached forward to grab a handful, but you only had time to grab the eyeball tentacle that fell last.
The monster seemed to be even more excited, and it suddenly jumped very fast. You were pulled forward by a huge force and were brought to a painting.
This time the monster did not come out of the previous portrait. The picture showed a pot of sunflowers with many round eyes on the sunflower disk.
Before you could even take a closer look, you found yourself being dragged directly towards the picture frame by the black tentacle.
You subconsciously closed your eyes.
But the expected pain did not come.
After a few seconds, you opened your eyes blankly and saw pure white all around. In the middle of your sight was a wooden cabinet, on which was an ivory vase, and in the vase was a blooming sunflower.
The things that were just in the painting suddenly became real and appeared in front of you.
You blinked slowly and raised your hand to wipe your eyes. It took you a long time to realize what had happened.
You seem to have stepped into the painting...
And the instigator of it all...
You lowered your head and finally saw the true face of the multi-eyed monster.
It was a small, opaque black mass, and its overall texture looked like solidified black paint. It was similar to the rumored slime monster, but the difference was that it had more eyes, four round eyes.
It's far from the image of a Cthulhu monster you might imagine, and looks quite harmless.
After realizing you were looking at it, it quickly moved back several meters and hid behind the wooden table leg.
The author has something to say:
----------------------
The second person should be quite unpopular, after all, I have never seen it before. I read one some time ago and felt it was quite interesting. It had a bit of a literary travel feel and it felt suitable for the outside world, so I tried it [狗头] Now I have written in all three persons.
