☆46. San Francisco Boarding School

San Francisco Boarding School

Jiang Kexin was bewildered, not understanding what the strange boy was saying. However, when he heard some key words, his expression grew serious. He understood the importance of this matter, but was this man truly trustworthy? Jiang Kexin hesitated, ultimately deciding that he was untrustworthy. He hurriedly pushed aside the covers and prepared to get out of bed, but was stopped by the boy's voice.

In the small space of the dormitory, the boy was still sitting on the bed. His voice was calm and cold: "Are you still a student here? What happened on Earth in these years? Can you please tell me?"

Jason's tone was tinged with sadness as he gently stroked the blanket, as if comforting a wounded animal. He continued, "I've worked so hard for so long, my only wish being to return home. But I never imagined my wish would come true in such a ridiculous way. I still remember the year I left, 2013. There are seven continents and four oceans on Earth, your country, and mine, right? I bear you no ill will."

Jason clearly sensed Jiang Kexin's distrust, and Jiang Kexin didn't know how to hide her emotions; every movement seemed unnatural. Jason was convinced that this world was somehow connected to the Earth he knew. He stood up and looked at Jiang Kexin with a calm yet determined gaze. His face was almost tearful, and he looked deeply distressed.

Jason followed Jiang Kexin's footsteps, and the two walked through the corridor together. Just as they were about to leave, Everton pushed the door open, obviously looking for Jiang Kexin. Seeing this scene, Everton's face instantly became gloomy. He leaned against the door and said with a hint of joking: "My dear, you always make me worry so much. Didn't we know each other the first time? It's really sad."

Jason narrowed his eyes slightly, studying Everton. He felt an inexplicable familiarity about him, which puzzled him. In this new world, apart from Earth and its inhabitants, nothing seemed familiar to him.

Could it be another player? Jason wondered. He had revealed his identity to Jiang Kexin because he judged her to be no player. But that didn't mean he was willing to expose himself so easily and become a target. Jason turned his head and gave Everton a moderate, playful smile. He wasn't truly mentally twisted, but through observation, he'd noticed that many people here had some psychological issues to varying degrees.

This made Jason worry about his compatriot - could Jiang Kexin really pass the customs smoothly?

Everton was unhappy with Jason, a person he had almost no impression of. He didn't understand why the people around Jiang Kexin changed one after another.

Jason remained vigilant, not minding causing trouble for the other players. He walked past Everton as if he were just a passerby, then looked up and gave him a terrifying, cold smile: "Clown."

Then he and Jiang Kexin left together, leaving Everton clenching his fists in anger.

No one knows the content of the conversation between Jason and Jiang Kexin on the rooftop, but after they came back, their relationship became obviously more harmonious.

This confused the others. In class, Winston didn't seem to care about their interaction, but Teddy asked curiously: "Brother, how did you get another family in such a short time? Shouldn't family be small? I don't understand, brother, you are so fickle."

Jiang Kexin frowned, not wanting to explain, but Everton coldly replied, "Who knows? Maybe he has no heart at all. He's not a good kid at all. He's really a bad kid."

There was a hint of indifference in Everton's words, and he was obviously displeased with the closeness between Jiang Kexin and Jason.

Jason, who was sitting in a corner of the classroom, finally couldn't help but interrupt. His fingers drummed on the table, the rhythm seeming to mercilessly beat everyone's nerves. His voice was firm and cold: "Some things are not as you think. Why are you so harsh on a boy?"

Everton scoffed, his tone full of disdain and impatience: "How funny, Jason, who do you think you are? When will it be your turn to stand out? Sometimes it's not wise to be in the spotlight. Do you remember that liar who was disemboweled yesterday?"

This made Winston chuckle, a playful smile playing at the corners of his mouth, as if he were enjoying the subtle tension of the conversation. He rested his chin on his hands and replied in a casual tone: "Indeed, he's a liar, you're right about that. But besides him, isn't there anyone else who lies?" Winston's clear eyes swept coldly over everyone present, his posture elegant and calm, as if he were examining a game.

Jiang Kexin felt an inexplicable chill. As an adult, he felt an indescribable unease when facing these children. This feeling was strikingly similar to his previous state of madness. The reason he lost his mind then was because the madness before him had torn a crack, a terrifying crack, a crack that Jiang Kexin could not bear.

He didn't want to think about it any further. Jiang Kexin stood up and roughly pushed the chair under the table, making a harsh sound. If time could go back, Jiang Kexin thought, maybe he shouldn't have left at that time, because something happened that night that he couldn't have predicted.

Jiang Kexin was in disbelief when she heard the news of Jason's death. In just two days, two people had already left this world.

He could understand the first man's death, but Jason's death left him confused and shocked.

He remembered that Jason had talked to him before, expressed his willingness to help him, and even asked Jiang Kexin to do what he wanted before informing his parents of his existence.

Jason's eyes were filled with sadness, tears rolled down his cheeks, and he said regretfully: "If I had gone back earlier that day, I could have gone home."

Those memories were still so vivid. Jiang Kexin walked out of his room and fell silent. He felt a splitting headache. As a college student, the dungeon battles he had experienced before were more about fighting bosses than facing the darkness of human nature. This time, he was forced to face the evil in people's hearts.

The commotion around him brought him back to his senses. It seemed that others were preparing to deal with the second body.

Jiang Kexin gritted his teeth and tried to stand up, but was supported by a boy with golden curly hair. The boy said to him in a gentle voice: "Are you okay? I understand the pain of losing a family member. I will help you. You can treat me as your family, that's fine." Teddy's smile was warm and lovely, and his eyebrows were curved, giving people a sense of intimacy.

Teddy looked down at Jiang Kexin, his eyes full of care, as if he was caressing a beloved pet. He stroked Jiang Kexin and said soothingly: "Oh, dear, I will be the best family, the best of everything. You need to love me, we are all poor abandoned creatures."

Everton was displeased by Teddy's gentle care. His teeth chattered, and the knife in his hand gleamed coldly in the dim light. Winston seemed indifferent to the tense situation. He brushed past Everton lightly, his tone tinged with sarcasm: "That was your prey, wasn't it? It's ridiculous, giving your prey away to someone else. Oh, this is so interesting. So, what will you do? There are only two children left here. Do you want to perform better than me?"

A fierce look flashed across Everton's face, and the knife in his hand gleamed dangerously in the light. He was determined to make Jiang Kexin his own, the result of his careful planning. Everton warned coldly: "He is mine, and has nothing to do with you."

Winston shook his head dismissively, his attitude seeming to indicate he had no interest in this fight. However, his next words revealed his true intentions: "I know who let that unusual lamb in. Oh, hahaha, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't interested. It's too boring here. My parents will be picking me up in a few days, so until then, we need to cooperate. Did you hear that? I'm very interested in Jiang Kexin's breakdown. I want to see him cry and go crazy."

Winston's tone suddenly turned cold. He raised his hand and pointed a gun at Everton's back. "Listen, let's cooperate and win together. Otherwise, the gun might go off accidentally, little rascal."

Everton sneered, unconcerned with Winston's threat: "You devil, this is the gun of the first guy who died. Can't you bear to see others stronger than you?"

"Indeed, it should be so, but aren't you too?" Winston responded, his voice revealing a sense of confidence and playfulness.
