Chapter 368 Basement
Generally speaking, there are often large cemeteries connected to church halls. This is because in the minds of ordinary believers, being buried next to a church hall after death can make them closer to God.
However, only saints and clergy are lucky enough to use these cemeteries. Most ordinary believers can only be buried in the church yard or designated cemetery.
Tang Shuo and his group passed through a stone doorway and directly entered the church cemetery.
The cemetery must be cleaned by a dedicated staff. The paths inside were spotless, without even a fallen leaf.
However, due to the age of this cemetery, some of the tombstones standing in front of the cemetery have become dilapidated, and even the words engraved on them are difficult to read. And the crosses standing on the tombstones appear particularly gloomy and cold under the moonlight.
Tang Shuo took a look and saw a small building in the center of the cemetery that imitated the appearance of a church. If he guessed correctly, this should be the gravekeeper's residence, and Gus should be hiding in this place now.
"Call Gus, tell him our location, and let him negotiate!" Tang Shuo said.
Peng Te took out his phone hesitantly. Seeing Tang Shuo's confident look, he dialed the number.
"Handsome Peng?"
Gus on the other end of the phone obviously didn't expect that Pent would call him again. After asking in surprise, he sneered, "Do you have any more goods to sell?"
Pent was furious and said through gritted teeth: "I am in the Wobru Church now. I think we need to talk."
A burst of heavy breathing was heard. After a few seconds, Gus finally digested Pent's words and immediately asked, "What do you mean?"
"I'm in Walbru, and I think we should talk," Pent repeated.
"What's Wobru? I don't understand what you're saying." Gus pretended to be stupid.
"You can send someone to check. I'm at the cemetery entrance right now." Hearing Gus's words, Peng Te looked at Tang Shuo in surprise. Gus's attitude undoubtedly proved that Tang Shuo's guess was completely correct, otherwise he would definitely not say such a thing.
There was a rustling sound on the other end of the line, and soon Gus asked, "What do you want?"
Tang Shuo, who had been listening to the conversation, mouthed, "Meet."
"We should sit down and talk," Pent said immediately.
After a while, Gus agreed: "Okay, come in!"
After hanging up the phone, Peng Te said to Tang Shuo, who was wiping the dust from the ground on his face, "What should we do now?"
"Of course I'll go see him." Tang Shuo stood up and replied with a smile, "Don't worry, when the time comes, all you have to do is threaten him that you will report our location. He won't dare to attack you."
Peng Te nodded and led his men directly to the small house in the center.
…
"What happened?" The mature man hurried in and said to Gus who was sitting inside.
"Pent, the man you were trading with today, knows our location," Gus said angrily. "I told you to be careful a long time ago, but I didn't expect you to lure him here!"
"Impossible," the mature man denied. "I took a long detour on my way back. No one was following me."
Gus gritted his teeth and said, "Anyway, our position has been exposed now, and Pent has brought people here."
The mature man's eyes lit up and he said, "We can tie up Peng Te and then plan this matter."
"It seems this is the only way now!" Gus said.
Not long after, a man in his thirties holding an automatic rifle ran into the room and said, "Sir, someone is coming."
Gus nodded and said, "Bring Pent in and notify the others to be on guard!"
"Yes." The short-haired man agreed, then turned and ran out.
When Tang Shuo and his companions entered the room, they discovered that this grave-guarding hut was not as simple as it seemed. There was an entrance deep inside the hut, and inside the hut were several terrorists holding weapons.
Because the hut was very limited in size, when some of Ponte's men entered, the hut was almost full. A closer look at the card revealed that Gus's men were actually a little less numerous.
However, combat effectiveness can never be calculated based on the number of people. Although there were only four terrorists in the hut, two of them were fully clothed with explosives and had the fuses in their hands. From their wolf-like eyes, it was not difficult to see that the other party was not bluffing at all.
"Where's Gus?" Pent asked, looking at the people in the room.
A short-haired man who looked like a leader stretched out his hand and asked, "Who is Peng Te?"
"It's me." Pent said.
"Our boss is waiting for you downstairs. You can go down, but everyone else stay put!" said the short-haired man.
Peng Te turned and looked at Tang Shuo. Although he knew that he had leverage over him and Gus didn't dare to hurt him, he still felt a little guilty at this moment. The important thing was that his opponents were not ordinary people, but a group of vicious thugs.
"Our eldest brother is worried about this arrangement. Can four of us go down?" Tang Shuo shook his head slightly and stepped forward, saying, "Otherwise, we'll leave now."
The short-haired man glanced at Tang Shuo, then nodded to the man next to him. The other man immediately understood and turned around and walked down from the entrance.
Tang Shuo approached Wang Bihan inconspicuously and whispered, "You stay up there. I'll leave these two people to you. Make sure you control the entrance."
Wang Bihan originally wanted to refute, she wanted to go down with Tang Shuo.
But as soon as she met Tang Shuo's gaze, she swallowed the words in her heart again and nodded with a look of grievance.
After waiting for a while, the man who had just gone down came up and whispered something in the short-haired man's ear. The short-haired man then said, "You can take two people down with you!"
Seeing Tang Shuo nod, Peng Te agreed and then took Tang Shuo and Mason to the basement.
The stairs to the basement were very long, at least twice as long as those of an ordinary basement. In addition to the fact that the change in light made people a little uncomfortable, as soon as everyone took two steps, a unique musty smell suddenly hit them.
Tang Shuo frowned and held his breath, but Pengte and Mason were not so lucky.
Pent retched and then covered his nose and mouth, while Mason vomited directly.
Looking up, I saw that the hall in the basement was filled with racks, and on top of the racks were coffins of different colors. At a glance, there were at least three hundred coffins in the hall.
The short-haired man who followed the others down chuckled and urged, "Hurry up!"
Pengte calmed himself down and led the two of them into the passage.
Maybe they had adapted to the environment or what, but the further they went inside, the lighter the musty smell became. By the time they reached the door to the basement hall, the air was almost indistinguishable from that on the ground.
The short-haired man walked forward to open the door, and everyone followed him in.
Tang Shuo carefully looked at the surrounding environment and saw that the basement was almost entirely made up of independent small rooms, and there were terrorists armed with weapons standing guard on the road.
It goes without saying that such a huge project could not have been completed by this group of terrorists. Considering the location they are in, it is not surprising that there is such a place. The power of the church in the Middle Ages is not something people can imagine today.
Everyone stopped in front of a room. The short-haired man knocked on the door. After receiving a response from inside, he brought Peng Te, Tang Shuo and others in.
Gus, who was sitting in the room, stood up, extended his hand to Pent and said, "Welcome, my old friend."
Peng Te cursed inwardly, shook hands with Gus, and then got straight to the point: "I came to you this time just to ask you to return the goods to me. Or you can pay me. As we agreed before, I'll give you a 20% profit."
"Don't be anxious."
Gus smiled, took out a bottle of red wine from a box in the room, grabbed two highball glasses from the table and said, "Let's have a couple of drinks first."
"No need to drink." Peng Te refused. "My people are still waiting. I won't bother you any more. As long as you can give me an answer, I will leave immediately."
