Chapter 24 Method

Chapter 24 Method

There are footsteps.

It seemed like something was walking right above his head. The "thump thump" sound of footsteps gradually became heavier and entered Lin Han's ears little by little, urging him to regain consciousness.

As if she had lost consciousness, Lin Han suddenly opened her eyes and stared blankly ahead, seeing the empty room and the dark night sky outside the window. The dim lights in the corridor flickered, and there was a crackling sound like the current in an old circuit.

Lin Han slowly sat up.

He leaned against the corner of the room with a blanket under him, covering his feet to his head. It seemed that this would keep him warm and allow him to sleep more comfortably.

Lin Han was the only one in the room.

He was silent for a moment, then lowered his head and lifted the blanket wrapped around his feet.

His right ankle was carefully wrapped with several rounds of bandages and tied with a beautiful knot on the inside. Lin Han hesitated for a few seconds, reached out and touched it. It felt like a slight depression and it hurt a lot when touched.

Lin Han's face turned pale.

He forced himself to stand up.

Although such injuries are serious, for an adult who knows that he is in danger, the pain is not unbearable.

There was no movement outside the house, and the footsteps upstairs seemed to have disappeared. There was only the sound of the wind outside the window, causing the old glass windows to shake and make a slight noise.

There was a row of cabinets against the wall next to him. Lin Han hadn't noticed it before, but only now did he realize that the cabinets were painted green, and most of the paint was so mottled that it had fallen off, revealing the iron sheet underneath. They looked very old.

Lin Han took a deep breath, slowed down his movements, grabbed the handle of the cabinet, and couldn't help but take another deep breath before carefully opening the cabinet door a crack.

He moved very carefully. The cabinet door, which would make an unpleasant sharp "creaking" sound when opened and closed quickly, did not make such a loud sound. It just slowly opened a crack.

It was pitch black inside, as if there was nothing there. He was almost relieved, but he blinked, and his eyes seemed to adapt to the darkness, and in the gap he caught a glimpse of the face of a person hidden in the darkness.

Lin Han hardly dared to look again. His brain had already automatically completed the image, telling him that he had seen this person before, the unfortunate sixteenth player.

A faint smell of blood wafted out from the not-so-wide gap, and Lin Han held his breath.

Perhaps because of his inner fear and tension, Lin Han even felt that the corpse moved, and he subconsciously closed the cabinet door.

There was no movement inside the door, and only his breathing could be heard outside. Everything around him was exactly the same as when he woke up.

Lin Han's heart was beating so fast that he completely ignored the pain in his body. The only sound in his ears was the sound of his own heartbeat.

No matter what time, he probably wouldn't be able to accept a human corpse so calmly. If it appeared in his sight in that way, he would instinctively feel fear and disgust, even if he knew clearly that it was just a data representation of the game world.

Everything that happened before was not a dream for Lin Han.

Yin Yue is not a normal player. He killed an innocent player and took his place, lurking beside Lin Han.

For some unknown reason, Lin Han became a substitute that Yin Yue could accept. He could find many of the things he wanted in Lin Han.

This is why Yin Yue's attitude towards him is inconsistent.

After a little thought, Lin Han had figured out a lot of information from what Yin Yue said.

First of all, Lin Han is now a substitute.

He didn't know who the real culprit was, but that must be the person Yin Yue loved and hated.

Because of love, she is willing to help Lin Han unconditionally. She is afraid that he will die and get hurt. She cares for him and protects him without any thought or hesitation. She wants to maintain a close and trusting relationship with him, even though he is just a similar person. But because of hatred, she teases him, stimulates him, and longs for him to get hurt. She deliberately hurts him, hoping to see him panicked and terrified.

Yin Yue probably couldn't see that person, so after seeing Lin Han, he had the unprecedented opportunity to secretly see some similarities from others.

This is the fundamental reason why Lin Han can "live in peace" with the other party until now and has only suffered minor injuries.

The second point is that Yin Yue’s hatred for that person is greater than her love for him.

The contradiction shown by Yin Yue comes entirely from his inner contradiction.

Judging from the fact that he finally attacked Lin Han, I'm afraid that malicious intent was dominating his heart.

This is not a good thing for Lin Han.

The fact that he is still alive means that Yin Yue has no real intention of taking his life, or that she has no such intention at the moment.

But this conclusion made Lin Han feel a little uneasy - if he hated that person more than he loved him, there was no need for him to hesitate when it came to Lin Han. Just a change of mind would bring disaster to Lin Han himself.

Thirdly, there is an 80% chance that the reason why he can become this substitute, or has some similarity with her, is due to his identity.

A freshman is an ordinary student who has just received an admission letter.

What is often called ordinary is not ordinary, as can be seen from the identity setting of the hidden character.

Lin Han believed that Yin Yue had never appeared in his real life, and there was no intersection between them. The only thing that could make Yin Yue interested in him was everything he had after entering the game - Lin Han's appearance had not changed, and the biggest possibility was the setting of his identity.

In short, in Lin Han's inference, he believed that the appearance of Yin Yue was an additional experience of the hidden character he drew.

He has no way to get rid of this identity setting, and a normal person will not easily give up the hidden role he has obtained. It is the same for anyone.

Unbeknownst to Lin Han, in the entire new world, there had never been a hidden character owner who chose to give up because of the dangers encountered in the game. Even such an overly "wonderful" and "special" character background would only bring more traffic to the owner's live broadcast room.

Risks always come with benefits, and the predictability of benefits also brings endless dangers, but who cares about the dangers in the game?

Even at this moment, Lin Han, after encountering so many abnormal experiences, would choose to continue when he calmed down and realized that this was just a game. He was thinking about how to continue the game, with his safe clearance as the premise.

But after thinking so much, Lin Han actually had no idea.

In real society, human rights are important. People are always protected by the rights stipulated by the law, and there are consequences for their actions. But in games, in such unsafe games where death and killing can happen easily, there are no so-called human rights.

The strong are respected. He is a weak person and is destined to be shrouded in the shadow of the strong. He can't stop Yin Yue from killing him after getting her own happiness. There is no need for a reason to end his gaming experience.

What can he do?

Lin Han's gaming experience didn't seem to play any role at this time, because the games he had played before always had artificial fairness mechanisms that always gave people the opportunity to continue playing. But the new world was different. He was still facing a mysterious Silver Moon who he didn't know whether he was a player or a game boss.

Lin Han was still thinking when there was new movement in the corridor.

"Why did you get up by yourself?"

There was a "tapping" sound of a cane tapping the ground. Lin Han turned his head quickly and saw Yin Yue approaching the door from the other side of the corridor through the window.

He was clearly in the corridor, but his voice was so clear, like an intimate whisper.

Silver Moon has become less and less willing to hide his eccentricities, and his danger has become increasingly obvious.

The lights in the corridor went out at some point, and Lin Han was so lost in thought that he didn't notice anything.

Half of Yin Yue's body was hidden in the darkness, and the other half was illuminated by the moonlight coming in from the window. He was clearly facing away from the light, but his silver pupils were clearly flashing with cold light, staring straight at Lin Han.

He still had that decent and gentlemanly smile on his face, as gentle as when Lin Han first met him, but the dull pain in the back of Lin Han's hands and the needle-like pain in her ankles reminded him how dangerous he was.

What happens next?

Lin Han didn't know.

He just stood there stiffly, his eyes following his movements until they moved to the door. The old doorknob turned, and the silver moonlight outside poured in, illuminating a larger area. The silver moon was standing at the door, giving him an even gentler smile.

Lin Han's hair stood on end, like a prey being targeted by a hunter, and his body tensed up involuntarily.

At this time, a new idea emerged in his mind.

If he wants to survive and continue this game, he must appease Yin Yue.

He wanted to appear more like the person Yin Yue wanted to see in her eyes.
