Chapter 44: Door
Lin Han looked at the posters carefully and confirmed that the place they had just left should be the escape room called "Horror High School" related to the school.
Apart from encountering the ghost that scared him out of his wits, they didn't encounter any other situations along the way and got out of it easily, but they didn't get any information about the script.
Normal escape rooms would provide clues step by step, but this step was omitted here. In addition, there were actually no particularly scary or realistic scenes. Lin Han thought that their main danger should be the ghosts wandering around in the dungeon, and most of these ghosts were employees who had played NPCs in the corresponding scripts.
There is another key issue. There are seven posters here. The escape room corresponding to each poster has its own corresponding area. Excluding the direction they just walked out, there are at least six other scenes here, and the area occupied is really quite large.
What was once a secret room escape venue is now full of ghosts and can be called a true "haunted house".
Just…where are the other six scenes?
Lin Han thought of the emergency exit he had just seen. He stood up and looked in that direction. With the help of the flashing green light, he could see an entrance below the "Emergency Exit" sign. It was pitch black, like a mouth wide open waiting for prey to enter. He didn't know what was hidden in the darkness, and he subconsciously didn't want to get close.
He blinked and was about to look back at Wen Hao to ease his tension, but suddenly he found that there was a dark space just opposite the emergency exit.
It was so dark that he could hardly see anything. He had thought there was a wall.
It seemed that with this glance from him, everything became different.
A "creaking" sound was heard in the darkness, like rusty iron tools rubbing against each other. Although they were covered with rust, they were still forcibly pulled forward, making intermittent metal biting sounds. After a while, the sound became smaller, but it was still not to be ignored.
There were two escalators that suddenly started moving, making occasional rumbling sounds as if the tracks were stuck.
Lin Han froze, not daring to move.
He cursed Jiang Xuchen and Alfred in his heart, and swore that he would never forgive Jiang Xuchen easily for his coquettish behavior after he got out, and he really didn't want to play this kind of scary copy in the future, not at all.
Lin Han held onto the counter, trying to hold on to his weak legs and not fall down.
But the sound of the escalator suddenly running was so loud that Lin Han was really afraid that a ghost would follow the sound, so she immediately pulled Wen down and squatted down.
Wen did not resist.
The counter was large enough to accommodate both of them, and there was a recessed space in the middle, enough for them to squeeze in.
Fortunately, the lobby seemed to be a safe zone. When Lin Han had almost gotten used to the creaking sound of the escalator, no ghost had poked its head down from the counter to look at them.
But he was still very nervous, even the flickering light above his head could make his muscles tense.
In the narrow space, Lin Han and Wen were too close, and he gradually smelled a smell of rust. After a moment of hesitation, he realized that it was coming from Wen.
The slightly sweet smell is very noticeable even in the choking dusty environment.
Knowing its source, Lin Han felt a little nauseous, and the bloody mouth began to flash frequently in front of his eyes.
It was not until Wen crawled out first that Lin Han, who had been trying so hard to hide behind Wen, finally breathed a sigh of relief.
He came out reluctantly and saw the same hall as before. With the light that had come on, he could see the two rows of escalators in the corner, which seemed to lead to a lower level.
There was a staircase in the middle of the escalator, but it's broken.
Either jump down or go down via the escalator.
What terrified him even more was that both escalators went downwards.
From his position, he couldn't see the space below at all, but the end of the escalator flashed, and with the reflection of the metal, he could vaguely see that the space below also lit up, and after a while it went out again, and the cycle continued.
But just now, there was no light at that location.
Everything now is as if they have opened a new map.
That's where the remaining six script scenes should be located, which means there will be more ghosts there.
Although he seemed to have no emotion on the surface, Lin Han's heart was beating fast.
In reality, they did not encounter too much danger, but from the beginning to now, Lin Han never really relaxed. The flickering lights limited his vision, and the overly quiet environment made him sensitive. His overly rich imagination made him feel that every place he looked at was full of danger.
The worst thing is that Lin Han can't control his imagination at all.
For the first time, Lin Han hated himself for having so many wild imaginations. In the short time he had just huddled under the counter, he had imagined no less than ten ways of dying, including Wen suddenly turning against him, turning around and biting him to death, and he had no way to escape.
He silently repeated "Alfred" several times in his heart, hoping that at this time, his guide could give him some help, even if it was just spiritual comfort, but there was no response.
Lin Han: “…”
There is nothing much to say. After he gets out, he will have to apply to change his guide.
After confirming that the Wen standing next to him was still him, Lin Han continued to search on the counter, hoping to find some props or other information, such as secret room information, clearance procedures, or even the initial small flashlight, which he could use.
Unfortunately, none of them.
The drawer was empty, filled with nothing but dust.
The gaps between Lin Han's fingernails were covered with dust, and every time he touched a finger, a black mark was left. He just rubbed his fingertips and some of the dust fell off.
He went to open the cabinet again. There were some things in the cabinet on the left, but they were all printed advertising leaflets. Seven escape room script posters were printed on a piece of paper. Maybe because they were in the cabinet, the paper did not turn yellow. It even looked like brand new. The bright colors made Lin Han feel as if the people in the posters were looking at him.
There was no address or contact information printed on the poster, only a string of big red words - "The Best Escape Room".
He flipped through it twice and confirmed that it was all the same template, then closed it. He turned around to open the cabinet on the other side. As he was opening it, Wen, who had been standing silently beside him, suddenly pulled him up. His strength was so great that he directly pulled Lin Han, who was squatting on the ground, up.
After squatting for a long time and suddenly standing up, Lin Han's eyes went dark and he staggered back two steps. He only managed to avoid falling because he suddenly grabbed Wen's arm.
"What's wrong?" Lin Han looked at him after she recovered.
Wen still had that pale, lifeless face. After seeing it a few times, Lin Han had become immune to it and was not so scared anymore. After he asked, he realized that Wen was not looking at him at all. His eyes were fixed on the ground. Lin Han looked over and his heart skipped a beat.
Half of a deathly pale face squeezed out from behind the cabinet door. It tried hard to tilt its head upwards, and its black hole-like mouth opened wider and wider.
Lin Han's legs went weak and he fell down. Black and white spots flashed back and forth in front of his eyes, and he seemed to be falling all the time.
He even forgot to breathe, his face became redder and redder, and he couldn't make a sound until something hit his back hard and he coughed, then he regained his vision.
He only guessed that the employee who played the NPC in the script turned into a ghost, but he forgot where the employee who greeted guests at the front desk went.
She hasn't gone anywhere, she's always been here.
There was a woman in the closet. Her body almost filled the entire closet, neither more nor less, with no space left at all. She wanted to get out, but the part of her back was squeezed in the closet. She couldn't move forward or backward.
Her skin was even moist and her eyes were shiny, but the face on the outside was flat like paper, folded into two sides, facing different directions, and her hair was tightly stuck to her skin and tangled in a ball in the cabinet.
It seemed as if only a piece of intact skin was left of her. The bones and flesh inside were ground into pieces and flowed everywhere like water, but some shape could still be seen. The sharp ends of the broken bones pressed against the skin, as if they could cut this thin layer of skin at any time.
She tried hard to raise her head, but the blood plasma on her head fell down due to gravity. The upper half of her head deflated, and her eye sockets also sank, leaving only two round eyeballs floating on top. The lower half of her face bulged outwards, from her chin all the way to her neck.
She was still as excited as she was at work.
"Guest...guest, welcome...welcome...to the best...escape room...!"
She was talking, and as she spoke some pink liquid flowed out of her nostrils and flowed into her mouth.
A stream of light-colored water also flowed out of the cabinet. It looked transparent under the light, but it had an unignorable fishy smell. Lin Han tried to hold his breath, but found that he couldn't do it at all.
He swallowed his saliva. What he saw and smelled made him feel nauseous from the bottom of his heart. Finally, he couldn't help turning his head and retching.
But there was nothing in his stomach, so he could only vomit out some acid.
Wen pulled his arm, so Lin Han didn't fall down, but he was almost losing all his strength.
In the end, Wen supported him and covered his mouth and nose. His cheeks were hot and he had difficulty breathing, just like when they first met.
Lin Han grabbed Wen's sleeve like a life-saving straw and buried her whole face in it. The dry smell and slightly warm body temperature helped her struggle out of the loss of control she had just felt.
The woman didn't even bleed, but her twisted limbs were already causing Lin Han physical discomfort.
After a long while, Lin Han finally recovered and was able to stand up straight. He wiped Wen's sleeves a little embarrassedly, trying to wipe off the remaining marks on it. At this moment, the other party's hideous face seemed like a great and glorious hero in Lin Han's mind.
Even without saying anything, he gave Lin Han a great sense of security.
Lin Han thought, even if he was not here to protect him, it was actually the same as protecting him all the time.
He didn't care about the saliva at the corner of his mouth. He just wiped it off and turned around, covering his nose.
The cabinet had been kicked shut by Wen, but unlike the initial silence, there were still some rustling movements inside.
Obviously the changes that have taken place will not disappear so easily.
There was a sound of fingernails scratching the door panel in the cabinet.
Her nails were intact, but her body went limp, and she scratched like a dying person using her last strength to plead for help, and she was still talking.
"Guest..., I... can't see you... anymore. Please don't... hide... intentionally."
The goose bumps on Lin Han's arms wouldn't go away for a while.
He is a little cold.
Because of this teller, Lin Han knew that he could not stay here any longer.
Even though she seemed to pose no threat other than being disgusting, and did not trigger any killing rules when she saw them, Lin Han was wary of all unknown existences. Now it was just that she hadn't crawled out, but if she really crawled out, Lin Han didn't dare to think about it.
He didn't want to be in the same room with such a being at all.
In short, they have already searched all the information they can find here, and it is time for them to move to another place.
Lin Han swallowed, turned around and prepared to pat Wen's shoulder. Just as he was about to speak, his eyes passed over Wen's body and looked in the direction they came from.
That's where the scene for "High School" was set, and they had just come out of there not long ago.
There is glass on the door.
You can see outside from inside and inside from outside.
The lights in the hall went out again, but the green light of "Emergency Exit" was still flashing, illuminating a face behind the glass.
Then the door handle was pressed down.
