They moved through the forest, becoming more cautious the closer they got to the blood flukes, afraid of disturbing them.
Bai Jing parted the branches, and what came into view was a wide, deep pit. At this moment, countless blood flukes were wriggling in the pit, their slender bodies intertwined.
Inside the pit were countless corpses of orcs and animals, some reduced to skeletons by the eating, others still containing intact flesh. Thousands upon thousands of blood flukes clung to them, sucking blood and flesh bit by bit, and a rotten, eerie smell permeated the air.
The orcs were disgusted by the scene. They frowned and turned their faces away. Some of them couldn't bear it and turned around and vomited on the spot.
Su Hui's complexion was also not good. He suppressed the urge to vomit and asked Bai Jing, "What should we do now?"
Bai Jing said in a deep voice, "Don't let them find out. Blood flukes are afraid of water and fire. There is no water source nearby. The best way is to burn them to death."
How to cook it?
"Have the orcs bring some wood, place it around the blood flukes and light it, then push the fire further in to burn the flukes to death."
“Okay.” Su Hui nodded: “This method is really safe. No wonder Wanwan chose this partner.”
Upon hearing Yu Wanwan's name, Bai Jing chuckled softly.
Su Hui ordered the beast soldiers to gather wood, and whispered, "Keep your voice down. There are so many blood flukes. If we disturb them, it's no joke."
The beastman nodded and began searching for flammable wood.
The orcs of the White Tiger tribe cleared away nearby vegetation to prevent the fire from escalating and endangering the entire forest.
Luce was also in the group, silently picking up pieces of wood, a calculating look in his eyes.
They quickly gathered the wood and arranged it in a circle, waiting to burn the insects to death.
Bai Jing felt it was about time, and flames appeared in his palm as he prepared to light the wood.
Watching his movements, Luce, who was standing to the side, suddenly cried out and fell to the ground, flying out while still holding the piece of wood in his hand, and crashing straight into the pile of blood flukes.
This was quite alarming. The blood flukes, which had been wriggling quietly just moments before, suddenly became agitated, twisting their bright red bodies and crawling towards the beastmen like a tidal wave.
They were very fast; the blood flukes darted out from the edge of the pit and burrowed into the orcs' bodies the moment they touched their feet.
The orc screamed and fell to the ground. Immediately afterward, countless insects crawled towards him, biting into his flesh and twisting their bodies as they viciously burrowed into his body.
The orcs standing closer had blood flukes burrow into their bodies; long, wriggling worms were visible beneath their skin, a truly horrifying sight.
The orcs on the outer perimeter panicked and couldn't help but retreat; some even turned around and tried to run away.
Bai Jing lit the wood, creating a ring of fire around the pit. Countless blood flukes crawled over it, crackling and popping. The intense heat and the eerie smell of burning flesh intertwined, constantly eroding the orcs' mental defenses.
Bai Jing said in a deep voice, "Everyone, don't panic! Retreat quickly, throw the torches out, and be careful not to get hit by the insects!"
At this moment, his voice remained calm. The White Tiger Beastmen were the first to be calmed down by their clan leader's voice. They lit the wood in their hands, throwing some out and burning the blood flukes that were crawling over.
Su Hui quickly reorganized his beast soldiers, ordering them to help collect and burn wood.
The situation was temporarily brought under control, but the number of schistosomes was simply too great. In some places, the wood could no longer be burned because it was covered by the corpses of the schistosomes that had been burned. The schistosomes that crawled out of the pits used the corpses of their companions as cover to escape.
The wooden fire rings extinguished several spots intermittently. Bai Jing picked up his spear, flicked away the blood flukes in the extinguished areas, then picked up the wood again, flames rising in his palm.
The wood was lit, and he threw it back in to reconnect the ring of fire.
Bai Jing patched up several gaps, and several orcs followed suit, knocking away the blood flukes and then burning the wood to fill the gaps.
There was also an opening in front of Luce, and a large number of blood flukes crawled out from the corpses of the insects. They were about to reach him, and Luce kept backing away. However, an orc standing behind him refused to back down and even kept pushing forward.
The worm crawled over, and Luce frantically used his spear to cut it in half. However, the blood fluke was incredibly resilient and could not be killed by anything other than water or fire. Even after being severed, it continued to wriggle and move forward.
"Retreat! Retreat!" Luce was flustered and anxious, and his movements of picking up the insects became aimless, directly sending the insects flying into the faces of other orcs.
The unfortunate orc never expected the insect to fly onto him. By the time he realized what was happening, he felt a sharp pain on his face as the insect had bitten through his skin, and he twisted his body to crawl into his flesh.
The orc screamed in panic, dropped his spear, and instinctively tried to grab the exposed body of the blood fluke. But the blood fluke was crawling too fast. The moment his hand touched it, the worm had completely crawled inside, wriggling under his skin, drinking blood and eating flesh voraciously, and finally burrowing into his head to suck out his favorite brain.
The orc's scream was stuck in his throat, and he fell straight down. Soon, countless insects crawled up his feet and invaded his body.
Seeing this, Luce thought of something and kept moving towards Bai Jing's position, but the orcs behind him were like nails to the ground, making it impossible for him to squeeze out. At this moment, more insects crawled over and quickly climbed up Luce's spear.
Luce narrowly escaped being bitten by an insect and dropped his weapon.
But without his weapon, he could no longer flick the worms away. The blood flukes had already charged towards him relentlessly. Luce screamed in alarm and instinctively grabbed the orc behind him, using his body to shield himself.
