The next day, out of humanitarian spirit, Yu Wanwan gave Wangye a few fruits and then asked, "How much longer until we can go back?"
Her tone was not good; she was still angry about what happened yesterday.
She felt extremely awkward knowing that she didn't like this person, yet she still needed him to get back.
Wangye took the fruit and said, "Let's wait a bit and then we'll leave."
After finishing his meal, Wang Ye propped himself up from the ground. The only clothes he was wearing were Yu Wanwan's outer robe, but she was petite, so even the loose-fitting clothes were not big enough. Wang Ye could only wrap the robe around his waist to barely cover his vital parts.
"Come on up." Wang Ye turned his back to Yu Wanwan and half-squatted down.
Yu Wanwan wasn't dressed warmly, and Wang Ye was shirtless, making her a little embarrassed. But remembering she had to go back, she could only suppress her shyness and cling to his back.
The young female was fragrant and soft. Wang Ye's body stiffened, and he subconsciously turned his head to glance at Yu Wanwan out of the corner of his eye.
But she had already obediently climbed onto his back and wrapped her slender arms around his neck.
Wang Ye transformed into his beast form, and Yu Wanwan clung tightly to his fur, afraid that she would fall off.
The white wolf clung to the rock face and climbed up little by little.
Yu Wanwan's legs dangled in the air. She turned her head to look down and immediately closed her eyes in fright, wrapping her legs tightly around the white wolf's waist.
Yu Wanwan felt as if she had lost her balance and was swaying back and forth with the white wolf's leaps, as if she were about to fall at any moment.
Time seemed to have passed for a long time, yet it also seemed to have passed very quickly. Suddenly, the white wolf stopped moving in mid-air. Yu Wanwan opened her eyes and asked, "Why aren't you moving?"
The white wolf growled softly and said, "It's not easy to climb up ahead. If I weren't injured, it would be fine, but now that I'm injured, I'm not so sure I can succeed."
Yu Wanwan had not formed a mate with him and could not understand the beast language of Wangye. Seeing him pause for so long, she became even more nervous.
"Roar~" I'll try it, you hold on tight to me.
Yu Wanwan still couldn't understand, but she felt the white wolf's body tense up, as if it was about to exert force, so she quickly gripped it even tighter.
The white wolf leaped into the air, this time jumping even further. He barely managed to grab the protruding rock and slammed his body against the mountain wall.
Yu Wanwan was nearly thrown off by the violent impact, leaving the two of them hanging precariously in mid-air.
Despite the pain in his body, Wangye gripped the rock tightly with one claw and tried to dig the other claw into the mountainside to steady himself.
The stones crashed down the cliff. Wang Ye tried several times before finding a foothold. He fixed his eyes on the platform not far in front of him, pushed off with his hind legs, and landed on the platform.
Wangye transformed into human form and put Yu Wanwan down.
Yu Wanwan breathed a sigh of relief as her feet finally touched the ground, but when she noticed the height below, she couldn't help but shrink back.
Wangye said, "We might need to rest for the night before we leave. I'm too exhausted."
Their current position is on a platform of about two square meters that juts out from the middle of the cliff, with a cave about one person high in front of them.
Yu Wanwan glanced at the cave; it seemed very deep inside, pitch black and she couldn't see anything.
"Wangye, have you been to this cave before?"
Wangye was about to say that the cave was safe and there was nothing to worry about, but seeing the little female's panicked and frightened look, he couldn't help but want to tease her.
Wangye said with some distress, "I've never been here before, so I don't know what's inside."
"Huh? What should we do now?" We can't just stay on this small platform all night. If we turn over in our sleep, we'll fall to our deaths.
"How about this, I'll go in first to check if there's anything inside, and you can come in after I've confirmed it's safe."
"But... what if there's something bad inside?"
The unknown is always frightening, and this cave looks like a bat cave.
Yu Wanwan didn't want Wang Ye to be in any danger; he was now her only way to leave this place.
"It's alright, I am the Beast King after all." Wang Ye comforted Yu Wanwan briefly, and then resolutely walked into the darkness.
Yu Wanwan watched nervously, her expression full of worry.
The waiting time always felt very long. Yu Wanwan hugged herself and sat by the cave. The whistling sound of the wind blowing through the cave sounded like someone was crying.
After Wang Ye went inside, there was no sound at all. At first, Yu Wanwan thought that he hadn't reached the end, but as time went by, she began to panic.
Yu Wanwan leaned against the mountain wall, craning her neck to peer inside.
However, the cave was completely dark, and it was impossible to see what was inside.
She put her hand to her mouth and called out, "Wangye, Wangye, are you alright?"
Her voice reached into the cave, but it was as if swallowed up by a giant beast, and there was no response.
Yu Wanwan called out several more times, but her voice was like a stone sinking into the sea.
"What should we do?" Did Wangye leave on his own, or was he swallowed whole by the wild beast inside? Why has there been no movement for so long?
"What exactly happened? Whether they're dead or alive, there has to be some kind of explanation."
Looking at the pitch-black cave, Yu Wanwan's legs were trembling.
She pressed her hand to her chest, where it was pounding rapidly with tension, a mixture of fear of the unknown future and deep worry for Fei Han.
Fei Han is still waiting for her to go back and save her. Wang Ye is her only way to leave this place. She can't let him disappear so mysteriously. No matter what, she has to go and see him!
Thinking of this, Yu Wanwan gritted her teeth, picked up a stone from the ground to defend herself, and shakily walked into the cave.
