After returning home, Yu Wanwan kept thinking about what Chief Wu Heng had said.
Chief Wu Heng said that Qinglu always went through the back mountain, but he had never met him in all this time.
She has been eating in the back mountain for at least a month now. Qinglu knows that she doesn't eat in her cave, but he has never asked her about it. Instead, he lets himself go out for several hours every day and disappear.
Given Qinglu's personality, this is indeed quite strange.
There must be some hidden reason that the Qing law couldn't reveal.
After sitting in her cave for a while, Yu Wanwan couldn't sit still any longer, so she stood up and walked towards Qinglu's cave.
Since we can't figure it out, we might as well try to find a way.
At this time, Qinglu was still busy in his study.
Upon hearing the little female's voice, he immediately threw the talc aside and then walked into the cave to greet Yu Wanwan.
"Wanwan, is something the matter so late?"
Yu Wanwan sat down on the chair, her hands on her knees, looking obedient and sweet.
"Elder, I would like to ask you for a favor."
Qinglu replied without hesitation, "Tell me, and I'll help you."
"I would like to ask you to get some medicine from the witch doctor for me. My head hurts a lot, and I feel a little dizzy."
Upon hearing the little female say she felt dizzy, Qinglu immediately stood up. He placed his hand on Yu Wanwan's forehead to check her temperature and then found some hot water for her: "Is it because the blanket is too thin that you're sick? Wait here, I'll go find you some more animal hides."
"No," Yu Wanwan tugged at his sleeve, "I was hit by a big leaf that fell while I was eating."
Upon hearing this, Qinglu touched her head and examined it carefully: "It doesn't seem to be swollen yet. You wait here for me. I'll go find the witch doctor to get medicine. Tomorrow, you should rest well in the cave and don't go to class yet."
"Um."
Qinglu quickly brought Yu Wanwan the medicine and personally watched her apply it and lie down on the bed before returning home.
The next day, Yu Wanwan didn't stay in the cave. Instead, she found a secluded spot in the back of the mountain to wait.
If we simply wait here until Qinglu arrives, we can prove our point.
Not long after, Yu Wanwan spotted that familiar figure.
Qinglu, familiar with the place, arrived at Yu Wanwan's usual dining spot, then leaped up and gracefully landed on a tree above.
Using his hand as a blade, he chopped off all the leaves from the tree in just a few simple strokes.
Not content with just dealing with those, Qinglu also cleared away the surrounding plants, picking off many withered branches and leaves to prevent them from being blown down by the wind and hitting Yu Wanwan.
After tidying everything up, Qinglu landed back on the ground, took out a few fruits from his pocket, and arranged them on the ground seemingly casually but actually meticulously.
Upon seeing his actions, Yu Wanwan instantly understood where those fruits had come from.
In fact, when she came here again later, she would sometimes pick up some fruit, but she thought they had fallen naturally when they ripened. It turned out that Qinglu had deliberately placed them here.
After doing all this, Qinglu turned around and saw Yu Wanwan standing not far behind him. Even though she hadn't done anything wrong, he instantly became nervous and felt extremely guilty: "Wanwan, you... what are you doing here?"
Yu Wanwan slowly walked over: "I'm eating here, what about you?"
"Ah." Qinglu pretended to have just found out and said, "So you eat here all the time, I...I..."
Yu Wanwan didn't say anything, just quietly looked at him.
Qinglu sadly realized that, faced with Yu Wanwan's current gaze, he seemed unable to tell any lies.
But he still struggled, trying to maintain the appearance that he knew nothing: "I was just passing by, so I'll be going now."
Qinglu tried to leave, but she blocked his way.
Worried that he might bump into Yu Wanwan, Qinglu quickly took several steps back. When Yu Wanwan saw him retreat, she followed him forward. The two of them moved forward and backward, and soon Qinglu was pressed against the mountain wall with nowhere left to retreat.
Yu Wanwan looked at him with eyes that seemed to see through everything: "This is the path you took up the mountain, isn't it? You knew I was here all along, but you never said anything. If I hadn't found out, were you planning to never tell me?"
The little female was tiny, barely reaching his chest, but Qinglu couldn't push her away at all, so he could only continue to be stubborn: "What do you mean I won't tell you? I don't know."
"You still won't admit it!" Yu Wanwan frowned and pointed to the top of his head: "Yesterday I just said that I was hit by leaves, and you came to clean it up today. And these fruits, and the fruits from before, you put them all here, didn't you?"
"I..." Qinglu opened her mouth, about to say that she didn't know.
Yu Wanwan took a step back: "If you don't want to admit it, then forget it, I'm leaving."
"No!" Qinglu quickly grabbed her. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to peek at you. I... I didn't know..."
Qinglu uttered this dry sentence, and after saying it, he even cursed himself.
If you didn't know then, how could you not know later? Concealing is concealing, and now that it's been discovered, it's best to sincerely apologize.
"Wanwan, it's all my fault, please don't be angry."
Yu Wanwan snorted inwardly. She wasn't angry at all, since she was the one who blocked the other person's way back. But she was angry that Qing Lu was so stubborn and had scared her so much that she thought there was a trap!
Why didn't you tell me for so long?
Qinglu lowered his head, he was not good with words at all: "I'm afraid you'll be angry..."
