Before the war between the cold and hot races, the Orc continent experienced a natural disaster, which happened much earlier.
Ancient scripts were the writing systems of that time, and their spread was not widespread. After the disasters, most of the ancient scripts were lost.
This was the history of writing on the Orcish Continent, or so Qinglu told her later.
For so long, no orc has ever wanted to recreate the written language. Whether they are cold-blooded or hot-blooded orcs, they have always relied on the remaining written language and oral communication to convey messages.
Chu Lin was clearly intrigued and leaned closer to Yu Wanwan: "What are simplified Chinese characters?"
His eyes were bright and eager, filled with a thirst for knowledge.
Yu Wanwan turned her face away.
Of course, she couldn't say that these were words from Earth. If Chu Lin suddenly had a whim and asked her where Earth was, Yu Wanwan wouldn't be able to explain it clearly.
She had no choice but to bring up the Beast God as an excuse: "It's the Beast God. Didn't I say that the Beast God sent me here? He's also the one who told me to teach you simplified characters."
The will of the Beast God is practically a passport among the hot-blooded beastmen.
Chu Lin had no doubts, and even looked at Yu Wanwan with eyes full of piety and respect: "Okay, I will tell the tribe tomorrow and ask them to send the cub over."
After Chu Lin finished speaking, she suddenly realized, "But why cubs? Aren't adult beastmen more capable of learning?"
Yu Wanwan scratched her face.
You can't say it's because she didn't want to be around those orcs who were eyeing her like she was a piece of meat. Children are always more relaxed and comfortable around adults than adults.
She casually remarked, "Because written language is extremely precious. The cubs are the future of the beastman continent, so of course they should be the first to learn."
Chu Lin nodded, completely agreeing: "You're right!"
He was very efficient; by the second day, he had prepared a place for classes, complete with tables, chairs, benches, talcum powder, and other amenities.
Yu Wanwan walked into the classroom, which was already packed with people, all of them cubs, mostly males with only a small number of females, all sitting in the front row.
Yu Wanwan walked up to the podium, glanced around, and estimated that there were at least a hundred people sitting below.
She hadn't expected so many people to come, and she couldn't help but feel a little nervous. When she first introduced herself, her voice was a little unsteady.
Fortunately, the cubs were all very obedient. No one made a fuss, and they all listened attentively to the lesson, looking as if they wanted to absorb all the knowledge into their heads.
Seeing how serious they were, Yu Wanwan also got into the zone and began to speak with even more focus and detail.
There are so many words, even if Yu Wanwan spends the whole day in class, she can't possibly cover them all in a short month. She can only do her best and say as much as she can.
Yu Wanwan also discovered that at this time, there were no medical books on the Beastman Continent, and everything was taught by shamans step by step.
She thought for a moment, then took out a stone slab and a piece of talc, drew simple pictures of herbs on them, and then wrote down the effects and uses based on the shaman's description and what she usually heard from Fei Han, before handing it to the shaman.
"Keep these, you can write down all the herbs on them, so that medical knowledge can be passed down in the future."
The witch doctor was overjoyed as he received the stone tablets written by Yu Wanwan.
A month can feel very slow and empty if you have nothing to do, but once you find something to do, the days fly by.
Yu Wanwan was busy with medical books and simplified Chinese characters every day, and she didn't even have enough time to sleep. Being busy made her forget some of her pain, but she would still think of Lanyin in the quiet of the night.
She kept recalling the time they spent together, and in the end, all of this would turn into the scene of Lan Yin closing her eyes and sinking into the sea to save her.
The bond with her partner bound this sorrow tightly to her heart, yet she refused to sever the connection with Lan Yin. She simply clutched the clothes around her heart, tears streaming down her face.
Yu Wanwan's desire to go home grew stronger.
On the last day, Yu Wanwan solemnly announced the end of all courses. She told them that what she had taught was only a very rough outline, and there was much more to be explored on their own.
She told them to write it down carefully and spread it widely, because only in this way could the Bloodthirsty Beast Clan continue to progress.
The cubs readily agreed.
In the evening, Chu Lin finally returned to the palace. Yu Wanwan invited him out and set up some food on a hilltop, intending to say a final goodbye to him.
When Chu Lin arrived, Yu Wanwan was sitting on the ground. Not far away was a cliff. She was quietly looking into the distance, not knowing exactly where she was looking. The wind was blowing her long hair, as if she would be blown far away like a dandelion in the next second.
Chu Lin's heart tightened, and she felt a strange panic. She ran over and sat down in front of Yu Wanwan.
Suddenly a figure appeared in front of her. Yu Wanwan came to her senses and smiled, "You've come."
She smiled brightly, and Chu Lin nodded somewhat shyly.
Yu Wanwan didn't notice anything unusual about him. Seeing him sitting there, she moved to a more comfortable spot and sat down at a suitable distance.
“We’re having a picnic today.” She opened her bundle, spread the silk on the ground, and then laid out the food and drinks she had brought.
"This is a picnic?" Chu Lin glanced at the food laid out on the table, somewhat puzzled.
How is this any different from when they go out hunting and can't come back for a while, so they can only eat whatever they can find outside to solve their food problem?
