The orc didn't have time to pay him any attention. After this batch of meat was delivered, he went to move on to the next batch. When the old orcs in charge of roasting the meat saw the meat, they all looked like they had no will to live.
By the time all the meat was roasted, the old orcs were covered in soot and their faces were greasy, making them extremely uncomfortable.
They walked back together, and an old orc complained, "Barbecuing meat is so tiring. Once we deal with the Elephant Tribe, I never want to barbecue meat again in my life."
"Yeah, those people said grilling meat is easy. How is it easy? They grill meat for hundreds of people at once. Why don't they do it themselves?"
"I'm so annoyed. I come home with a smell every day, and my females at home are disgusted by me. They haven't mated with me for several days."
"You're still thinking about mating? Look at Qu Cang, he doesn't even have a partner, hahaha."
After they finished speaking, they all burst into laughter.
An old orc went to find Qu Cang and found him silently following behind the group. He couldn't help but go over and ask, "Qu Cang, what's wrong? Everyone was just joking around, did you get angry?"
Qu Cang glanced at him, his previously expressionless face suddenly breaking into a smile: "I'm not angry, I just find grilling meat too tiring."
Speaking of roasted meat, the orc felt the same way. He put his hand on Qu Cang's shoulder and sighed, "Yes, I also feel tired, but it's still good to be able to do my part for the tribe."
Qu Cang scoffed inwardly. What was the point of him exerting any effort? This kind of tribe was hardly worth his time.
The orc, oblivious to Qu Cang's strange behavior, continued, "Now that Bai Jing is leading the tribe, we are sure to defeat the Elephant Clan. I hope we can successfully conquer the Elephant Clan this time. I never want to roast meat again."
Upon hearing Bai Jing's name, Qu Cang's expression darkened further, and he cursed silently in his heart.
What are you muttering about?
The orc approached Qu Cang.
"N-nothing."
Qu Cang wiped away a cold sweat, only then realizing that he had unconsciously uttered curses. Luckily, no one heard him, or he would have been finished!
...
At night, while everyone was asleep, a figure stealthily left the tribe.
Another figure, hidden in the darkness, quickly headed towards Bai Jing's cave.
Yu Wanwan didn't sleep with Bai Jing today. Bai Jing was lying in bed alone when he realized someone was approaching the cave and quickly opened his eyes.
In the dim moonlight, it was clear that this orc was the young orc named Nan Shu who had said he would follow Bai Jing during the tribal chief election in the square.
Before he even got close, he saw Bai Jing standing at the entrance of the cave. He quickly went over to Bai Jing and said, "Chieftain, I just saw Qu Cang leave the tribe."
Bai Jing nodded: "Where did he go?"
“You’re right, he went in the direction of the elephant tribe.”
"We'll give chase."
Qu Cang ran through the darkness, the thrill of betrayal driving him wild.
Tonight he will tell the Elephant Clan all of the White Tiger Tribe's plans, so that the Elephant Clan can devour the White Tiger Tribe.
This would let the orcs of the White Tiger tribe know how foolish Bai Jing's decision to become the tribal chief was. Once they were all prisoners, he, as a meritorious official who delivered the message, would still be able to maintain a place in the Elephant Tribe, and might even be able to take over the White Tiger tribe's territory.
Immersed in excitement, Qu Cang ran forward without noticing the fireball beneath his feet.
By the time he realized what was happening, all four of his legs were already scorched by the flames. The intense heat made him fly through the air, and he crashed to the ground with a howl.
Bai Jing appeared before him with Nan Shu. Upon seeing Bai Jing, Qu Cang hurriedly got up from the ground and stammered, "Clan...Clan Chief, what are you doing here?"
Bai Jing glanced at him and said indifferently, "I haven't even asked you what you're doing here yet."
Qu Cang lay on the ground, swallowed hard, and replied, "I... I just couldn't sleep, so I came out for a walk."
"Qu Cang, you're still lying!" Nan Shu pointed at him angrily. "We all know. You're going to the Elephant Tribe. Do you intend to betray your tribe?"
"Don't talk nonsense." Qu Cang looked at Bai Jing with fear: "I really just came out for a walk. I didn't plan to go to the Elephant Tribe. Chieftain, I am sincere to the tribe. You have to believe me."
Bai Jing half-squatted in front of him, his words like those of a bewitching enchantress: "Qu Cang, do you say you are truly sincere to the tribe?"
Yes, yes.
Bai Jing's tone was flat, making it impossible to guess his meaning: "Then are you willing to make some contributions to the tribe?"
Upon hearing Bai Jing's words, Qu Cang quickly replied, "Of course I'm willing. I can go through fire and water for the tribe."
Bai Jing suddenly laughed, his deep voice quite pleasant to the ear, but for some reason, it sounded like a death knell to Qu Cang: "In that case, this task is definitely yours."
Qu Cang paused for a moment, then subconsciously looked up.
A huge fireball hurtled towards him, its flames licking his skin and climbing his hair, causing Qu Cang to scream in agony.
Watching him howl in agony amidst the flames, Nan Shu couldn't help but swallow hard.
Unexpectedly, the usually mild-mannered clan chief was so ruthless. But then he thought, what does it matter if Qu Cang is burned to death? Even chopping him up and feeding him to wild beasts would be too lenient!
...
Ah Ye was running frantically through the forest. Perhaps he was too panicked, because he didn't even look where he was going and bumped into an elephant.
The elephant-like beastman turned around and saw that it was a rabbit-like creature. He frowned and said fiercely, "Why are you running away? Don't you have eyes?"
