Yu Wanwan felt a little itchy from the snake's soft, cool body, but since Mo Zhou was hiding inside and wouldn't come out, she felt embarrassed to reach out and touch him. After thinking about it, she decided to just let him stay there.
A-Ye lit a torch, and Daiyu Wanwan went into the room where the grain was stored.
The dimly lit room brightened up, and Yu Wanwan then noticed that there were many kinds of plants inside. The first thing she saw was a mountain of rice piled up in the middle, and various vegetables neatly stacked against the wall.
Yu Wanwan was surprised to find many familiar vegetables inside, such as Chinese cabbage and tomatoes.
When Yu Wanwan saw that pile of potatoes, a hundred ways to eat potatoes immediately flashed through her mind, and her mouth watered.
"Ah Ye, can all these plants be sold?" Yu Wanwan pointed to several familiar plants, wishing she could bring them all home right now.
Although the plants on the Orcish Continent were quite delicious, she still felt more comfortable eating Earth's food.
A-Ye was surprised that Yu Wanwan liked vegetarian food so much, and quickly nodded: "These are all fine, you can have as much as you want."
With A-Ye's permission, Yu Wanwan happily took out her animal skin bag and put all the food she wanted into it. She filled a large bag with rice alone, enough to last her the entire cold season.
Rice doesn't spoil easily, so you can take more, but other foods are different. Of the males in the house, only Fei Han is omnivorous and willing to eat some plants. Mo Zhou and Bai Jing don't touch any vegetables at all, so Yu Wanwan didn't take much of other vegetables.
In the end, the two sides calculated that these items were traded for three animal hides. Yu Wanwan was in a good mood, after all, she felt it was quite worthwhile to get so many vegetables.
Finally emerging from the low cave, Fei Han let out a sigh of relief at seeing the light of day again.
Yu Wanwan happened to see the half-dug ground and couldn't help but ask, "Ah Ye, what's this for?"
Ah Ye said, "We are storing food for the winter. Look." He pointed to the seeds placed to the side: "After we loosen the soil, we will plant the seeds and protect them from freezing, so that we can have fresh vegetables and fruits to eat during the cold season."
Yu Wanwan's eyes lit up immediately: "You guys can actually grow things!"
A-Ye said shyly, "Because we need to eat fresh plants, so..."
She wanted to eat fresh food too.
Although we dug a cellar to store food, the vegetables inevitably became stale over time.
After thinking for a moment, Yu Wanwan discussed with A Ye: "Can I also exchange some fresh vegetables and fruits with you during the off-season? I also want to eat fresh ones, hehe."
A-Ye nodded quickly: "Of course!"
Yu Wanwan looked around and noticed a lot of rotten vegetable leaves lying on the ground next to her, which looked like they were discarded because no one wanted to eat them.
Yu Wanwan pointed to the pile of leaves and asked, "Ah Ye, do you not eat any of those leaves?"
A-Ye looked in the direction she was pointing and replied, "Yes, those leaves are too hard, we don't like to eat them."
Rabbits prefer fresh, crisp leaves. Unless you have a unique taste or exceptionally strong teeth, no one would eat hard, tough stems like these.
Yu Wanwan thought of the yellow-bellied bird at home.
Those yellow-bellied birds have been eating more and more lately, and they're getting fatter and fatter.
Although there were plants brought back from the elephant tribe, they were all fresh vegetables and fruits, and it would be a waste to feed them to chickens.
Since A-Ye and the others are also vegetarian beastmen, and they have leftover vegetable leaves every day, why not make use of them to prevent waste?
With that in mind, Yu Wanwan discussed with him again whether they could trade the daily kitchen waste and unwanted vegetable scraps.
A-Ye, of course, thought it was no problem. Anyway, these things were useless. He asked, "These things are useless. If you want them, Wanwan, I can send you fresh ones every day."
"No need, no need," Yu Wanwan waved her hands repeatedly, "I have other uses for these."
"Oh well."
After discussing the supply of goods and how much to supply, Yu Wanwan finally ended her day's itinerary and slowly walked back with Fei Han.
Fei Han found a stream, took out two red fruits that she had exchanged with A Ye, washed them clean, and handed them to Yu Wanwan.
The red fruit he was holding was a tomato. Yu Wanwan didn't used to like tomatoes that much, but after being in the Beastman Continent for so long, she felt incredibly warm and fuzzy when she tasted the familiar food. Even the tomatoes she didn't like seemed sweeter and juicier to her.
Seeing that she was eating happily, Fei Han couldn't help but ask, "Wanwan, you like this, we can come and exchange it often in the future, but why are you exchanging it for those useless leaves?"
The leaves were rotten and wilted, and could neither be eaten directly nor cooked, which Fei Han found very difficult to understand.
Yu Wanwan glanced at Fei Han and explained with a smile, "You forgot? There are so many yellow-bellied birds at home. They need to eat vegetable leaves every day. Where in the tribe are there so many vegetable leaves to feed them? It would be too wasteful to feed them fresh ones. Since A Ye and the others happen to have vegetable leaves, it's perfect to use them to feed the birds."
"I see."
Yu Wanwan added, "When we raise more animals in the future, like rabbits and piglets, Bai Jing won't have to work so hard to go out hunting."
Thinking about her career, Yu Wanwan became happier and happier, and couldn't help but jump up and down twice.
As a result of those two movements, the little snake that was sleeping soundly on her chest fell off and landed silently on the ground.
Unfortunately, Yu Wanwan was in a bad mood and didn't notice anything amiss. After the two of them had rested, they held hands and continued walking home.
