"I'm leaving right away, right away!" Luce scrambled away and disappeared in front of him.
Seeing him leave, Luce endured the pain and got out of bed, took out animal skins to spread on the bed, packed some food, and went to find Nana.
Nana was currently hiding in another cave further back. The invasion of the elephant tribe had made her lose her usual laziness and nonchalance. Instead, she paced back and forth anxiously, waiting to see what would happen.
Upon seeing Sanqiao approach, Nana quickly went to greet him and asked, "How did it go? Was the elephant tribe driven back? Is the tribe safe now?"
Sanqiao grabbed her hand and pulled her away forcefully: "Nana, the tribe is doomed, let's escape quickly."
"What?" Nana screamed, her voice trembling. "You're the clan leader! How could you run away!"
She forcefully shook off Mitsuhashi's hand, but he grabbed her again: "Of course I don't want to leave, but we can't beat the Elephant Clan right now. If we don't run, are we going to be caught and eaten?"
Nana certainly didn't want to be arrested, but she also didn't want Mitsuhashi to escape.
Her father was the chieftain. Although she was spoiled and willful, she knew the significance of the chieftain to the tribe. If the chieftain left, their tribe would truly be finished.
Nana shook off Mitsuhashi's hand and turned her back: "You can find someone to send me away, but you can't be a deserter."
Mitsuhashi choked for a moment, then forced a smile: "Nana, I'm not deserting, I did it for you."
Nana looked at Mitsuhashi with a puzzled expression.
Sanqiao said, "The tribe is now surrounded by the Elephant Clan. If it weren't for me, who else in the tribe would have enough strength to lead you out of the encirclement?"
Seeing the hesitation on Nana's face, Mitsuhashi seized the opportunity to express his loyalty once more: "Nana, I'm doing this all for you. As long as I can get you out safely, I'll come back. I'm willing to die for the tribe, as long as you're alright!"
