Chapter Thirteen: The Miraculous Pink Fruit

Bai Jing picked up the fruit, broke off a piece and put it in his mouth. After confirming that there was no problem, he threw the fruit into the fire to roast.

While gathering firewood, Bai Jing also hunted down a small, hibernating wild animal, skinned and cleaned it, coated it with chili peppers, and roasted it over the fire.

The peeled hides were put into a rattan bag, to be taken back and tanned tomorrow.

When the pink fruit's outer skin turned charred black, Bai Jing took them out of the fire, wiped the skin clean, and Yu Wanwan was surprised to find that the outer shell of the pink fruit was still hard and without any damage.

Looking at the pink fruit, Yu Wanwan suddenly had an idea, but she didn't have the means to experiment with it later.

She simply made a pair of small chopsticks. The roasted fruit looked hard, but it was actually very fragile. It was easy to break off a piece. Even a cat like Yu Wanwan could easily crush it.

Yu Wanwan tasted the powdered fruit, but spat it out after only a few bites.

It tastes bland, like eating a mouthful of flour.

She finally understood why this pink fruit, which clearly didn't look pink at all, was called a pink fruit!

It's tasteless and dry, no wonder females don't like it.

Seeing her expression, Bai Jing couldn't help but laugh and handed her the grilled meat he was holding: "Let's eat the grilled meat instead. This isn't good. We won't eat it."

As he was about to throw away the rice cake, Yu Wanwan quickly stopped him: "Hey, wait a minute, let's go back and study it some more. This tastes a lot like a food I used to eat."

Yu Wanwan made a solemn promise.

Seeing that the little female had spoken, Bai Jing gave up the idea of throwing her away.

For this meal, Yu Wanwan ate barbecue.

In the dead of night, all was quiet.

Bai Jing transformed into a tiger, and Yu Wanwan, wrapped in an animal skin blanket, lay in his arms, the campfire providing light and warmth.

In the darkness, several pairs of ghastly green eyes seemed to flicker, but due to the White Tiger's immense power, they dared not take a single step forward.

As dawn broke the next day, the two continued their journey, but Baihu had to slow down in order to take care of Yu Wanwan.

In the afternoon, Bai Jing specially brought Wan Wan to the forest where they had met before.

He met Yu Wanwan in the heart of Qingwan Forest. This place looked ordinary, and in fact, it really was ordinary.

Yu Wanwan slid down the tiger's tail and looked around.

She couldn't remember the exact location, but after circling around several times, she couldn't find a door or any kind of opening.

Did it grow into the ground?

Yu Wanwan didn't believe it.

She picked up a stick and started digging in a similar spot. Bai Jing didn't understand, but he transformed into his beast form and followed her.

They worked like this for quite a while, and a large hole was dug out in the snow, but there was still no sign of a door.

Yu Wanwan couldn't help but feel frustrated, and threw the stick aside in a huff.

"Wanwan, don't worry too much. I'll bring you back to see me in a few days. We'll find a way back." Bai Jing's words only made Yu Wanwan want to cry more.

My eyes stung and burned, and tears instantly welled up in them.

Without even thinking, she asked, "Will you really help me? Don't you want me to stay?"

Upon hearing this, both of them fell silent.

Yu Wanwan was a little scared. What if Bai Jing locked her up and abused her because he wouldn't let her leave?

After a long while, Bai Jing sighed, gently kissed away Yu Wanwan's tears, and said in a gentle and pleasant voice, "Of course I want you to stay, but I don't want you to be unhappy."

Warm, soft lips lingered on Yu Wanwan's face. Yu Wanwan stood there, stunned, forgetting even to cry. Her eyes, which had just been washed by tears, were even brighter and more captivating. When she looked at you, it was as if there were a thousand words in them, hesitant to speak.

Bai Jing's lips, like his emotions, are passionate yet not scalding, always putting you first.

"It's probably because everything looks like that when it's snowing. Let's look for it together after the snow melts, okay?"

His words were soft and gentle, as tender as fine silk threads, constantly filling the emptiness and fear in your heart. Yu Wanwan was soothed almost instantly.

Unable to find her way home, she thought she would be completely sad and panicked, but in reality, Bai Jing pulled her heart out of her distress, held it in his arms, and carefully protected it.

If she really couldn't go back, Yu Wanwan thought she would definitely not hesitate to marry Bai Jing.

By the time they got home, it was already dark. After a long day of travel, the two of them were exhausted. After a quick wash, they lay down in the grass and fell asleep.

The next day, Yu Wanwan got up early and started doing experiments.

She and Bai Jing found a lot of mud and stones by the river, brought them back to the cave, and built a small stove.

Yu Wanwan selected the largest pink fruit, cut it open, scooped out the white flesh inside, leaving only the smooth, hard outer shell.

This pink fruit looks a lot like a walnut; it's oval-shaped and perfect for sitting on the stove as a pot.

Bai Jing threw a few small powdered fruits into the fire. After they were roasted, he took them out, cut them open, crushed the pulp inside into powder, and put it into the other half of the walnut-shaped powdered fruit pot.

Yu Wanwan added water to it, and the powder clumped together when it came into contact with the water, gradually turning into the familiar shape that Yu Wanwan remembered.

"Bai Jing, come help me." Yu Wanwan pulled Bai Jing over and pointed to the lump of flour, saying, "Keep kneading it, and then cover it up after a while."

Although puzzled, Bai Jing still kneaded the dough for Yu Wanwan without saying a word.
