"Huh?" Yu Wanwan was stunned for a moment. The witch doctor had already led her out of the cave. He transformed into his beast form and gestured for Yu Wanwan to sit on it quickly.
Thinking of Yu Wanwan's description, the shaman imagined himself carrying a basket, swiftly picking herbs in the forest, and receiving envious glances from the tribe while holding the novel bamboo basket. He became even more excited, scratching the ground with his paws, wishing he could take Yu Wanwan to the back mountain right now to weave bamboo baskets.
Seeing the witch doctor's appearance, Yu Wanwan didn't know whether to laugh or cry.
She genuinely hadn't expected that her casual remark would elicit such a swift and decisive response from the witch doctor, who immediately wanted to take her there.
Now that the rain had stopped and much of the snow had melted, the witch doctor's excited and eager appearance made it hard for her to refuse, so she climbed onto the tiger's back.
Anyway, I'll go take a look first, and if it's not, I can come back.
Yu Wanwan thought to herself.
The back mountain mentioned by the shaman was actually just a small hill. Because it had just rained, the air was full of moisture, and some parts of the grass were still covered with snow. The green was lush and the white was pure, making it exceptionally beautiful.
Yu Wanwan sat on the back of the witch doctor, who had transformed into a beast. From afar, she could see a lush green bamboo forest, where a gentle breeze occasionally rustled through the trees.
In the dead of winter, when other trees have stopped growing leaves, only bamboo and grass remain green and resistant to the frost.
"Yes, yes, that's it!" Yu Wanwan excitedly patted the tiger's back.
The tiger roared and quickened its pace.
The witch doctor crouched down and helped Yu Wanwan off his back.
Fortunately, the witch doctor's beast form wasn't as tall as Bai Jing, so Yu Wanwan landed smoothly.
Stroking the hard trunk of the bamboo, Yu Wanwan could not hide her excitement.
Bamboo is a treasure from top to bottom. With this bamboo forest, we can eat bamboo shoots, bamboo rice, weave bamboo baskets, and even weave mats in the spring!
Thinking about all this, Yu Wanwan felt a surge of joy.
The witch doctor looked at the tall, thin, hollow logs and couldn't imagine how to turn them into bamboo baskets.
"Grandpa witch doctor, could you help me cut this bamboo down?" Yu Wanwan pleaded.
The shaman nodded, his fingernails transformed into tiger claws, and he placed them on the bamboo, beginning to cut it bit by bit like a sickle.
Yu Wanwan scratched her head, feeling somewhat puzzled.
Why does Bai Jing cut stones as easily as cutting tofu, while the shaman seems to struggle so much when cutting bamboo? Is it because he's getting old and his abilities have declined?
After a while, the bamboo was almost completely cut, and the bamboo stalks could not withstand the weight and fell to the side with a crack.
Afraid of being hit, Yu Wanwan quickly moved aside, but the witch doctor stood even further away from her.
"Grandpa witch doctor, why are you standing so far away?"
The witch doctor glanced at Yu Wanwan sheepishly, his eyes filled with awe for nature: "It's not easy for this hollow tree to grow so tall. I broke it, and I was afraid of getting hit if I didn't stay far away."
Are you really that scared? Even if you get hit, with the orcs' strong physiques, wouldn't they just wave their hands and toss the bamboo aside?
As Yu Wanwan thought about this, the image of Bai Jing carrying bamboo with one hand involuntarily appeared in her mind, and she couldn't help but laugh.
Yu Wanwan tapped the fallen bamboo with a series of thumps.
Not bad, it's quite sturdy. I'll polish it up and use it as a teapot and cups.
Yu Wanwan looked around and picked out a few tall and sturdy bamboo stalks. She said to the witch doctor, "Grandpa witch doctor, let's carry these bamboo stalks back for now!"
She spoke so casually, but the witch doctor, upon hearing this, stumbled and said, "Little female, with my old bones, I can't even cut this much bamboo, how can I possibly carry it back!"
The shaman felt like his claws were about to break after cutting that bamboo. If he hadn't wanted to avoid losing face in front of the females, he would have given up. He had finally managed to cut that bamboo, preserving his masculine dignity, and now he had to continue cutting and carry it back...
The witch doctor immediately pictured himself carrying a lot of bamboo, then sticking out his tongue, rolling his eyes, and dying of exhaustion on the road.
"Huh?" Yu Wanwan was taken aback, finding it even stranger: "But Bai Jing cut stones so easily, I thought everyone did it the same way..."
The witch doctor snorted, his tone full of envy: "Bai Jing awakened his ancestral power and his strength increased. Otherwise, how could he have cut such a hard stone so easily?"
Orcs who have reverted to their ancestral form are one in a hundred. The most important thing in an orc's life, besides mating and having offspring, is whether they can obtain the power of reversion on the day they come of age.
I never imagined that Bai Jing had managed to keep such a huge secret—that he had obtained the power of ancestral reversion—so well hidden for so long after he became an adult.
However, thinking about the tribe's rule and looking at the gentle, beautiful, and intelligent little female in front of him, the witch doctor now felt that Bai Jing's choice was right.
Nana's appearance was considered quite good for the tribe, but compared to the little female in front of her, she was simply... a sight to behold.
Since we can't take the bamboo back with us, we'll just have to try weaving bamboo baskets here first.
The shaman was instructed to slice the bamboo into thin slices along the direction of the bamboo fibers. The shaman found this much easier and soon sliced a large number of bamboo.
Yu Wanwan tried to weave the bamboo strips together. When the bottom of the bamboo basket was about the right size, she slowly bent the bamboo strips to weave them.
However, the bamboo in the Beast World didn't seem to be very resilient. When Yu Wanwan bent it a little too much, it cracked with a snap.
Yu Wanwan had no choice but to minimize the bending. When she had woven it to a certain height, she looked at the finished product and felt that it didn't look like a basket that could be carried on one's back, but rather like a winnowing basket used for drying clothes.
