Ze Wu goes out every day to plant spirit flowers, hoping they will bloom and bear fruit as soon as possible. He never talks to her about how effective they are against the dark energy, but Yu Wanwan knows the seriousness of the matter from his furrowed brows and depressed mood every day.
There was nothing she could do but dance harder, until she was practically dead.
Today was a rare good day. When Yu Wanwan woke up from her nest, the sun was shining brightly outside and a gentle breeze was blowing.
She stretched and opened the door a crack to look outside.
Zewu was leading the plant people to plant the spirit flowers. They dug holes in the soil, buried the plump white spirit flower seeds in them, covered them with soil, and then closed their eyes and prayed devoutly.
After a while, several orcs who were standing nearby came over. It's unclear what they talked about with Zewu, but the orcs squatted down and started helping the plant people dig in the soil.
Yu Wanwan was slightly surprised.
Just a few days ago they were arguing non-stop, but today they're helping each other out. It seems that not all beastmen are troublemakers; there are good people among them.
Ze Wu planted all the spirit flowers, and as he turned his head, he saw Yu Wanwan peeking through the crack in the door. He smiled, walked over, and squatted down in front of her: "You're awake? Are you hungry? Would you like some dew?"
Upon hearing the word "dew," Yu Wanwan's eyes lit up, and she nodded vigorously.
Since becoming a spirit flower, she has lost interest in normal food and only wants to drink dew with Zewu every day.
Zewu sat down next to her and watched the plant people and animal people with flowers with her.
Yu Wanwan took a sip of the bamboo tea, then asked, "Are those orcs here to help?"
Zewu nodded: "They said that the spirit flower is the medium for transmitting the power of the Beast God. They are protected by the Beast God, so they should help as well."
There was no indifference in his eyes, only a gentle warmth.
Yu Wanwan laughed.
The orcs in the distance had finished digging the pit and were waving at Zewu: "Zewu! We've finished digging the pit. Come and see if it's okay. If it's fine, we'll go fetch water!"
Ze Wu responded, propped himself up from the ground, and went to check on the planting.
Yu Wanwan couldn't help but think, if only things could always be like this, with everyone living in peace, without friction or fighting, with the plant people protecting the continent and the beast people knowing how to be grateful.
After finishing his planting work, Zewu took Yu Wanwan to report to the clan chief. Sitting on his shoulders, the two walked slowly, chatting occasionally. Everything was peaceful and serene.
Suddenly, the scenery before her eyes turned red. Yu Wanwan paused for a moment, then looked up at the sky.
"What's going on? Did the sun set so quickly?"
The sky was a fiery red, with purplish-red clouds mixed in, creating a truly magnificent and colorful scene.
The sun was magnified countless times larger than usual, turning from a blinding sphere of light into an orange-red one, with flames seemingly rising from its edges—a sight that could only be described as spectacular.
Yu Wanwan raised her hand to wipe her forehead; she felt very hot.
“That’s not the sun.” Ze Wu stared at the huge fireball, his expression solemn.
Yu Wanwan stared blankly at him. He turned around, and Yu Wanwan turned to the opposite direction as well.
“That’s the sun,” he said, pointing to the distant sky.
Yu Wanwan looked up and realized that what was hanging there was the sun, the familiar sphere of light, but at this moment, the sun was being obscured and gradually swallowed by darkness.
What's going on?
On one side of the sky, there was a giant fireball, while on the other side, the sun was blocked by the total solar eclipse.
Both the plant-like people and the animal-like people came out and pointed at the strange sight.
Looking at the fireball again, the once intact, orange-red fireball suddenly developed cracks, and then the huge fireball shattered in the sky.
Before Yu Wanwan could react, countless fragments of fireballs suddenly rushed towards the ground. Yu Wanwan screamed in fright and covered her head as a huge sound rang in her ears.
She opened the leaves to look, and saw that the large tree in the distance had been knocked down by the fireball fragments, and the flames immediately turned into a raging fire that engulfed the tree.
"Fire!"
It's unclear who shouted that first, but chaos erupted around them. Some fled, some tried to put out the fire, and the cubs and females, burned by the sparks, cried out in pain.
"Zewu... um." Before Yu Wanwan could finish speaking, a large hand came towards her, and the next second, Yu Wanwan was stuffed into his arms and wrapped up tightly in his clothes.
Yu Wanwan couldn't see what was happening outside, but she could feel Ze Wu running and hear his calm yet slightly trembling voice.
He was also very scared, but he still tried his best to calm everyone down, led the evacuation, and guided people to a safe place.
The bumpy and stuffy environment made Yu Wanwan feel very uncomfortable. The dew she drank seemed to rush to her throat, and a large rock pressed down on her chest.
Yu Wanwan endured it with difficulty, while Ye Zi tightly gripped Ze Wu's clothes, trying her best not to let Ze Wu take time out of his busy schedule to deal with her affairs.
"Everyone, quickly hide inside!" Zewu led the beastmen and plant-like beings into the cave.
They huddled together, their faces filled with fear and trembling.
"Zewu, is this the wrath of the Beast God?"
"Is the Beast God abandoning us? Is he going to burn us all to death?"
The sound of collapse could be heard from time to time outside the cave, and there was a burning smell in the air.
Zewu took a deep breath, trying to calm himself down.
