Chapter Eighty: Staying or Leaving

He gathered the scattered firewood from the ground and piled it into a grid pattern, then flames shot from his fingers and started a fire.

Bai Jing took out a few pieces of roasted meat from his bag, turned around and asked, "Wanwan, which piece do you want to eat?"

Yu Wanwan hesitated for a moment, resting her chin on her hand, and then chose the middle-sized piece of meat.

Bai Jing cleaned the raw meat, marinated it with ginger slices, and carefully grilled it by skewering it with clean twigs.

The firelight illuminated Bai Jing's face, casting a warm orange-yellow hue over it. Yu Wanwan couldn't help but ask, "Bai Jing, if Mo Zhou can't stay in the tribe in the end, will you be sad?"

Bai Jing shook his head: "I just want to be with you."

For him, the important thing is not whether Mo Zhou will leave, but whether Yu Wanwan will be willing to let Mo Zhou leave. And as things stand, Yu Wanwan's attitude is already very clear.

“But they said they want you to be the clan leader…” she hesitated.

After the last battle, the tiger-tribe beastmen completely regarded Bai Jing as their chieftain. They would follow him to hunt and repair the tribe. He had even reached a point where he could command a large following.

If he wanted to stay and become the clan leader, he could certainly live a better life.

Bai Jing sighed, pulled Yu Wanwan onto his lap, and said helplessly, "Being the clan leader was never in my plans. Your wish for the family to be together is my wish."

For Yu Wanwan, he was willing to be tied to Mo Zhou.

He kissed Yu Wanwan's forehead and whispered, "Once we've dealt with the Elephant Tribe, if Mo Zhou can't stay, we'll go to the desert together."

Yu Wanwan nodded and hugged him tightly.

By this time, the meat was cooked, and the aroma of the roasted meat made Yu Wanwan's mouth water. When Bai Jing brought the meat to her, she couldn't wait to start eating.

Seeing that Yu Wanwan was eating happily, Bai Jing then began to prepare food for the males.

Larger pieces of roasted meat were placed on the fire, sizzling and releasing their aroma, which wafted far and wide on the night breeze.

Those living closest to Youyi were the first to smell the aroma, and their stomachs rumbled.

The elephant tribe not only destroyed the caves, but also looted the food, taking what was edible and discarding what was inedible.

The cave in Youyi is one of the more miserable ones. There's a big hole in the mountain, and the wind is howling inside. There's no food left in the cave, his partner is stranded outside, and he's injured. Now he can only drool over the smell of barbecue next door. It's as miserable as it gets.
