lingering

Happy times in Flower Language Town always seem to pass too quickly. He held Xu Changjia's hand and they were all lovey-dovey, and a whole morning was gone in an instant.

I only intended to try it briefly, but once you get addicted, how can you quit?

Xu Changjia also made an appointment with the little girl brought by the village chief today to walk the old route of the Tea Horse Road.

She had almost finished sorting out the content of the Dongba □□, and the village chief had recommended some additional content to her, including the Ancient Tea Horse Road, which was something she hadn't explored much before.

But Zheng Ruoqian, who had come all the way to be with her, changed his cheerful smile just moments before, looking like a big dog that had lost its owner's affection.

He followed closely behind her, his mind filled with thoughts of kissing her.

Even when Xu Changjia was eating breakfast at the stone table, he would occasionally lean over and kiss her cheek, muttering to himself:

"Can't you really stay with me?"

"I only have three or four days left."

"Jiajia, I really miss you!"

...

In the end, he even sounded a bit resentful, making people who didn't know better think that something had happened to him.

She put down her chopsticks, her big, dark eyes staring straight at him without saying a word.

It's like saying, "Go ahead and ramble on and on, let's see what else you can come up with."

He took Xu Changjia's hand, put on a fawning smile, and stopped saying those sarcastic things. "By the way, Jiajia, the old man who sells chickpea jelly said that you should go listen to his story when you have time."

"After he found out that I was the boyfriend of the new girl in town, he didn't even take my money. I gave him some snacks from the south bank as an exchange."

She actually quite liked that old man.

Her grandparents passed away when her father was young, and her maternal grandparents also passed away when she had little memory of them.

There are no elderly people in her family, and she doesn't know how to get along with older people.

But this old man was different. He gave people the feeling of being approachable and down-to-earth, and it was very pleasant to talk to him and get along with him.

Like a gentle spring breeze, it made her want to talk to him again and again.

Zheng Ruoqian understands this feeling, just like he and his piano teacher do.

Even though they were far away in H country, they never lost contact.

He helped Xu Changjia clean up the dishes after the meal, and after asking where the kitchen was, he washed them clean, preparing to take them to the old man later.

Only then did he have the leisure to carefully observe the courtyard, which truly was a hidden paradise.

He walked through every place Xu Changjia had taken him through in her videos, and finally stayed in her room and wouldn't come out, using the excuse that other places were dusty, insisting on staying in the same room with her.

She was both amused and exasperated, but after thinking it over, she agreed. After all, she believed in his feelings for her, and since she wouldn't be staying at Tinghuayu for more than a few days, she didn't want to trouble them to come and clean the room again.

I had originally planned to go out with Qingqing in the morning, but Zheng Ruoqian's arrival caught me off guard, so I changed the time with her, saying that we would go to walk the old route of the Tea Horse Road after lunch.

As luck would have it, the guide who was supposed to take them on the Ancient Tea Horse Road also had something to do at home that morning, so he readily agreed to their proposal.

The two of them chatted in the courtyard, expressing their longing for each other after not seeing each other for so many days, and their aspirations for the future.

Hsu Chang-chia felt this deeply, realizing that the older he got, the harder it was to make friends, and the fewer people were truly there for him.

She was very fortunate to have met Zheng Ruoqian and the others when she returned in this life. Each of them had come a long way since high school. Looking back, she realized that they had come such a long way.

Another kiss landed on her cheek as she coaxed, "Jiajia, shall we go for a walk?"

She glanced at the bowls and chopsticks on the table and nodded.

There are few people in the small town, so if he goes out wearing a mask, probably not many people will recognize him. Consider these rare few days of holiday as a break for him, so he can rest and relax.

He held Xu Changjia's hand with one hand and carried the old man's bowl and chopsticks with the other. He first returned the bowl, then sat down with the old man for a while and listened to him tell many interesting stories about the small town.

On the old man's recommendation, we went to the neighbor's house to eat the unique Naxi hot pot and try their local specialty.

Strolling along the cobblestone path, listening to the clatter of her little leather shoes, it felt as if a thud struck my heart. Seeing her hand in mine warmed my soul.

Zheng Ruoqian was led forward step by step by her, and stopped under an unknown tree, where she wanted to take a couple's photo with him.

She was delighted to see a stray cat that had appeared out of nowhere by the roadside, and the corners of her lips unconsciously curved up as she shared it, her eyes fixed on the smile on her face.

Time passed peacefully and beautifully, with the passersby becoming the background noise, as if they originally belonged here, to listen to the language of flowers, and naturally blended into this slow-paced life.

At 2:30 pm, He Qingqing and the guide of the Ancient Tea Horse Road went together. She brought Zheng Ruoqian along, who acted as her little assistant, helping her carry the camera and bag.

The young girl hadn't been out much from Tinghuayu before, and was a little uncomfortable when she first saw such a tall and handsome man. She lowered her head and blushed slightly. After hearing his soft words of comfort, she dared not raise her head any further.

Xu Changjia glared at him, then immediately became serious and followed silently behind her and the guide, listening to them talk about the long history of the Tea Horse Road.

It wasn't a long time, but it took her four or five hours to walk the whole way. She carefully recorded every brick and tile, and with permission, she even touched some of the bricks to feel their textures, as if she could witness the vicissitudes of life and the changes of the world.

Occasionally, Xu Changjia would ask him to take pictures of some important moments, as well as the bricks and stones depicting ancient legends, as if they were worth studying.

As he watched her focus on her passion, he suddenly understood the source of the light in her eyes when she gazed at him intently at every concert.

Indeed, girls who work hard always shine and are so captivating that you can't take your eyes off them.

The Ancient Tea Horse Road was the last stop Xu Changjia was going to walk on when listening to the language of flowers. She didn't know how to say goodbye to the human world. Fortunately, Zheng Ruoqian came and helped her deal with these social interactions.

Over the next two days, I first accompanied her to visit the villagers in the neighborhood, and then we went to talk to the village chief. We also donated some funds to the town specifically for making cultural and creative products to sell to tourists from all over the country, which can be considered as improving Tinghuayu's happiness index.

The last place was the old man's chicken bean jelly that they had both eaten at. It was as if he knew they would leave, because this time he gave them an extra large portion, a big, pointed bowl that would spill out if they weren't careful.

Xu Changjia arrived as promised to continue listening to the old man's stories. However, this time he was no longer talking about customs and anecdotes, but about the grudges and affections between him and his children, and how he ended up being all alone, setting up a stall here.

The old man knew they might not come back, so he couldn't help but ramble on and on.

Seeing that it was getting dark, I told them to go back and pack their bags, and that I wouldn't see them off tomorrow.

“I think the old man still misses his two children very much. Although I don’t know how his two children treat him, I believe that such a good person would raise children who are not bad either.”

He seemed to have some kind of plan in mind. "Did you film the old man in your video, and include a short interview segment at the end?"

“Yes.” The two exchanged a glance, both seeing certain thoughts in each other’s eyes.

Xu Changjia's next stop is northward, towards Zhaonan.

Zheng Ruoqian is about to return to his idol life and start his first acting career.

However, before the two parted ways, they received two more pieces of good news, allowing them to share in the joy.

As the year draws to a close, the entertainment industry is about to host a slew of red carpet events inviting various celebrities, and numerous award ceremonies are also in the works.

Rumor has it that the drama in which Ou Liyao played the second female lead this year received a good response, and she has even been nominated for Best Supporting Actress, so she still has a good chance of winning the award.

As soon as she received the message from her agent, Ou Liyao couldn't wait to make a video call to her, but unexpectedly, Zheng Ruoqian answered the phone.

Immediately, it erupted in a groundhog-like scream: "Aaaaaah! You two, when did you start fooling around together again? Confess!"

He chuckled twice while holding up his phone, "I'm taking advantage of the fact that I don't have any other commitments to spend two days with her. I also need to start filming now, so I'll have to ask you, my senior, for some advice."

The person on the other end of the phone raised their chin, adopting a condescending attitude.

He asked some questions about the performance, waited until his girlfriend finished showering before handing her the phone, closing the door behind him, and leaving.

While drying her hair, Hsu Chang-Chia listened to her friend recount in detail how her agent had told her she was very likely to win an award. She was happy for her friend, as it was a recognition of her friend's entry into the entertainment industry.

She secretly asked the memory book in her mind: "If Ou Liyao wins the award this time, will the plan to save her be completed?"

Memory Book didn't speak at first, until her phone lit up again, then Memory Book spoke.

"Host, barring any unforeseen circumstances, the rescue missions of two or three people will end by the end of this year, and half of your life will pass away naturally."

She blinked. Barring any unforeseen circumstances, that meant she could easily live to be fifty or sixty.

"Jiajia, Jiajia, Jiajia, we can still see our good friends at the awards ceremony!"

Here comes her two or three rescue missions that are about to end.
