Dinner ended in silence.
Wang Mingxing returned to his bedroom and continued to look out the window, occasionally glancing downstairs. From above, the cars in the parking spaces looked like beetles.
"Well, at home... it's above average, not the best but not the worst either."
"Hmm, I guess I'm... a complete waste of talent. What can I do if I can't even finish high school?"
"Hmm, should I...?"
Wang Mingxing had a strong urge to jump off the building, but he wasn't afraid. He had heard so many whispers that he began to doubt whether he was living in the human world.
Perhaps, he was meant to be a ghost?
The soul is branded on the Three Lives Stone; is it a ghost on the Three Lives Stone? A spirit?
"So be it!" Wang Mingxing climbed onto the window.
He opened the window; there were no bars, only a screen. He tore the screen to shreds and growled in a low voice, "To hell with homework! Just speak English! Dad, Mom, Grandpa, and Grandma all speak human language. What's the point of learning that gibberish? I'm used to Chinese characters, and seeing those messy letters is just so annoying!"
Besides, Chinese is annoying enough. Chinese is just about being able to write your own country's characters and write articles. Why do you have to learn all that stupid grammar, like subject, verb, object, attributive, adverbial, and complement? Isn't it just like learning English? Garbage!
Besides, math is the most annoying thing. They draw a few broken squares and circles, and then force me to prove this and explain that. Isn't that exhausting? If I had the time to prove it, I could just find a more precise ruler and protractor and measure it, wouldn't that solve everything…”
Wang Mingxing muttered complaints under his breath, his body already halfway out of the hole.
"Oh no, I've really messed up!" High above, Wu Xiaoying was terrified, her face turning green.
She wanted to go and stop Wang Mingxing from jumping off the building, but she couldn't get there.
It can't fly; Fang Zong brought it along.
"Why was he only allowed to enter the sect today?"
Fang Zong, who was just there to watch the excitement, asked casually.
Wu Xiaoying was eager to save people, but disciples were hard to find. When Fang Zong asked, she could only answer quickly: "Brother Thug, my Yinma Sect is not as good as the Ghost Killing Team. It needs special energy nodes... Of course, the Ghost Killing Team doesn't care about these energy nodes, but it's hard to guarantee that the disciples won't want to leave the sect once they have some strength."
Fang Zong curled his lip: "So you want to make the disciples you're about to recruit despair first, then act as their savior and make them feel a strong sense of belonging to the sect?"
"Yes...but we also..."
"You changed his life too, didn't you?"
Fang Zong smiled calmly, his gaze fixed on Wang Mingxing. Listening to Wang Mingxing's mutterings and complaints, his smile grew even more composed.
Then a wisp of sound was guided into Wang Mingxing's ears.
Why did you commit suicide?
"Because...who's talking?" Wang Mingxing was startled.
He often heard all sorts of sounds, but never as clear as this.
Is it true that when a person is about to die, their connection with the other side becomes deeper?
Fang Zong then asked, "I only want to ask you why you committed suicide. Was it because English, Chinese, or math made you unable to live?"
"no."
"Why is that?"
"I don't want to drag my parents down. They're still young, they can play a new account. A piece of trash like me will be a burden to them for life!"
"Then jump."
Fang Zong laughed genuinely, watching Wang Mingxing fall with a kind expression. In a flash, he landed on the ground just as Wang Mingxing was about to die, and with a casual grab, he gently placed Wang Mingxing on the ground.
Without saying a word, he strode upstairs.
"I want your child." Fang Zong said bluntly to Wang Mingxing's family.
Behind him, amidst Wu Xiaoying's constant refrains like "I'm your mother," "Follow me," and "Do you know who that is?", Wang Mingxing had already learned Fang Zong's identity. His face was blank, and he was also panicking inside.
He went from being a useless student that no high school wanted to accept to becoming a highly sought-after student at Dragon Nest.
Even though it's an overseas assignment, just an exchange student sent by the Yinma Sect, it's still a great honor for the family!
The difference before and after was too great; I was shocked, overjoyed, and completely lost my mind.
Wang Mingxing's parents were also stunned, wondering what the young man who had suddenly entered was saying.
Fang Zong laughed and said, "Of course, you still have to pass the exam. The exam time is..." He took out his phone and glanced at it. Fang Zong placed 100,000 yuan and his ID card on the table. He left the 100,000 yuan untouched, but he put the ID card away after Wang Mingxing's family members took turns looking at it and their faces turned red with joy.
He shook his head and said, "There are still three hours until midnight. Whether he becomes Jackie Chan or can only be a logistics guy depends entirely on his performance in those three hours."
"Another exam?" Wang Mingxing was somewhat allergic to exams.
But upon closer reflection, this exam is different!
Failure changes your destiny; success also changes your destiny.
He knew that Fang Zong had already rewritten his destiny, and as for his future development, he would have to rely on his own efforts!
"Okay! I'll take the test!"
Wang Mingxing's eyes were bloodshot.
August 15, 2019.
Ghost Festival!
The Ghost Festival, also known as the Hungry Ghost Festival, is a festival for ancestor worship on the 15th day of the seventh lunar month. It is also called the Ghost Festival, the Hungry Ghost Festival, the Earth God Festival, and the Hungry Ghost Festival. The main customs of the festival include ancestor worship, releasing river lanterns, worshipping the dead, and burning paper money.
According to Yin Mazong, this is the only festival besides Qingming Festival where one can 'truly' consult the spirits.
Nothing needs to be prepared, just a separate room, a bowl of rice, a table, and three people.
Wang Mingxing was taking the exam, so naturally he couldn't be absent. Wu Xiaoying was the proctor and also Wang Mingxing's guide.
