"Where is Fang Zong?" Zeng Rou was very curious about her 'good friend'. She didn't know Bai Baixue, but what she cared about more now was where Fang Zong was.
On the way to being kidnapped by Zhu Youjian, she was unconscious. However, Zhu Youjian did not know how deep her past life's foundation was. Her power was imprisoned, but she could hear and see everything happening around her through a Buddhist secret method. She saw Fang Zong running to save her.
She saw the raging flames of the Wild Hunt;
She saw that pure blue expanse.
She saw Fang Zong bathed in pure blue flames, ignoring hundreds of demon corpses, and breaking through the small world of the Owl Queen. Her old thoughts surged again, and her heart, which had calmed down after the passage of time, became even more restless. She longed to see Fang Zong again.
Zeng Rou's face flushed with embarrassment, her coldness completely gone. She lowered her head, her expression timid.
She used to be surrounded by admirers, like the most beautiful girl among a hundred flowers, so dazzling. But compared to Fang Zong, what was she? Perhaps, only the reincarnation of the Fairy Qingxia made her feel that her status had been slightly elevated, and she was terrified.
“Fang Zong has gone back. An ordinary person will be very busy, busy gaining more power, fame, and influence.”
Bai Baixue's tone was somewhat sarcastic, as if he were a high and mighty immortal looking down on the common people.
“He’s already gone,” Bai Baixue said.
"Has he... already left? So busy... he didn't even glance at me..." Zeng Rou clutched her left chest, feeling strange. She and Fang Zong had only met briefly, yet she felt a pang of heartache. She had seen Qingxia Fairy's memories; she shouldn't care about Fang Zong's two 'heroic rescues'. "Where did Fang Zong go?" Zeng Rou narrowed her eyes slightly, only to find Bai Baixue frozen in place, two lines of tears streaming down her face.
"Have they... already left? They won't even... look at me again..."
Long, long ago, in the Western Paradise.
Sun Wukong, now the Victorious Fighting Buddha, sat high on a lotus platform, hidden in the mist, and only glanced at the woman at the foot of the mountain.
"You wouldn't even look at me... You promised... but... you left..."
Qingxia Fairy sobbed, her aloof green veil appearing so fragile, and even her sharp sword had lost its luster. Yet, she still couldn't make the Victorious Fighting Buddha linger for more than a glance. Hardening his heart, he transformed into light on the horizon.
“You are the wicks of Buddha’s lamp, and I am the monkey who has ‘taken refuge’,” Sun Wukong muttered as he stomped on the lotus platform. “The wronged souls of my monkey descendants have been haunting me. I must break through the Lingxiao Palace and smash Buddha’s Western Paradise. I have taken refuge, but I am still a monkey!” With his Ruyi Jingu Bang still as powerful as ever, Sun Wukong rode his somersault cloud and flew directly towards the Bull Demon King’s lair.
He was very rational and knew that he shouldn't be with Fairy Qingxia. Their completely opposing positions meant that his relationship with Tathagata's two lamp wicks was just a charade, not a genuine one!
"Old Bull, my sworn brother!" The Bull Demon King happily hosted a banquet for him. However, when the topic of sending troops to Heaven came up, he kept stalling and making excuses. Sun Wukong kicked over the tables and chairs, causing a ruckus in the cave, and roared, "Bull Demon King, do you still remember that we are seven brothers? Do you still remember how five of our brothers died? Do you still remember what the Macaque King said when he ordered me to kill him?"
"Times have changed, Seventh Brother, we can't overthrow the Heavenly Court."
"Have you forgotten Red Boy, forgotten your concubine, forgotten the humiliation of that day?" Sun Wukong angrily scolded the Bull Demon King: "I knew you, Old Bull, were unreliable. That day, when the Heavenly Court came to punish me, my brothers fought valiantly, but you, Old Bull, presumptuously called yourself the Great Sage Who Pacifies Heaven, yet you conserved your strength... Were you injured that time? How many of your calves died? I remember you told me that your wife was virtuous and that you wanted to give her a better life, but when I was on my journey to the West, you were whispering sweet nothings to the fox spirit. You really are a 'good husband,' Bull Demon King!"
The Bull Demon King roared, "Can't you be a little more rational?"
"Rationality? Then when I overthrow the Heavenly Court and become the Jade Emperor, will you sit in the Western Paradise of Buddha?"
Sun Wukong's words were merely spoken in anger, but to his surprise, the Bull Demon King beamed and respectfully welcomed him to a seat, intending to discuss launching an attack on the Heavenly Court. The Bull Demon King's initial arrogance followed by obsequiousness and his undisguised desire disgusted him, and he responded with a cold laugh.
In the end, it still failed.
On the eve of his defeat, the Bull Demon King betrayed him and continued to be a mountain king in the mortal world, while he became the Supreme Treasure and had to suffer another five hundred years of torment.
He resisted, he kept resisting.
So, Brigitte Lin and Zixia...
"Men approach everything with reason. Looking back now, the Bull Demon King's rationality bordered on hypocrisy. I'm rational too, and just as hypocritical. Qingxia and Zixia are women, interpreting their experiences through emotional impulses, which makes them unreasonable and naive. They simply wanted to be with me..."
"It seems being a woman isn't so bad after all." Bai Baixue's tears increased, influenced by the way women think.
Zeng Rou, who was standing next to her, didn't understand what was happening. Just as she was about to offer some comfort, her phone rang.
"It's for you." Zeng Rou was puzzled as to why an unknown number was calling and why she had Bai Baixue answer the phone, but she still tossed the phone over to her.
"Yang Jian, what do you want with me?" Bai Baixue had no liking for Zhao Xiao whatsoever.
Zhao Xiao's voice was also cold, "I know you don't want to see me, or even hear my voice, but there are two things I must tell you, for the sake of our past friendship."
"Spit it out!"
"First thing, the Monkey King has also awakened, and his name is Yang Xiaoliu," Zhao Xiao said calmly. "I don't want to get involved in your affairs with the Six-Eared Macaque, but there's something you need to know. It's written on the Dragon Valley's school history—yes, not the school history, nor the epitaph, but the 'school history inscription'—that Fang Zong wrote himself. Listen to it before you decide what to do next."
