At that moment, Hunter, who was covering his face, suddenly looked up and said, "Fang, we need to destroy the evidence!"
The voice was firm, resolute, and insisted that it had to be done! Hunter hoisted the naked man onto his shoulder and walked outside, taking each step cautiously, keeping his head down, as if afraid that someone would pass by and see him carrying a corpse.
Fang Zong, with his hands in his pockets, slowly followed them out.
Just before leaving, I looked back and suddenly stopped.
He saw the woman stand up, floating, her eyes filled with resentment, sinister and terrifying as she stared at him.
It turned into a ghost?
When the naked female ghost followed, Fang Zong touched her but found nothing, so he continued walking forward.
The scene was quite delightful. Hunter was carrying the corpse in front, and the ghost of a naked man floated out from the corpse, looking down in a sinister way. A dark hand, like an eagle's, was gripping Hunter's neck.
Fang Zong followed behind, and beside him, the naked female ghost viciously tried to strangle him.
"Get lost!" Fang Zong snorted indifferently.
"You can see me?" the naked female ghost exclaimed in surprise.
Fang Zong was speechless. Is this line a standard trope in all ghost stories? Can't you be a little more creative or constructive?
He continued walking and soon reached the shore of Blackwater Lake.
There was a small boat on the shore, barely more than a small raft. Hunter beckoned Fang Zong to board, and when they reached the middle of the lake, they threw the naked man's corpse into it.
He breathed a sigh of relief, picked up the oar, rowed for a while, and suddenly jumped up, his eyes filled with fear.
"I...I forgot!" he cried. "I forgot to tie on the weight! It'll float to the surface, Fang! The body will float to the surface in a few days!"
Fang Zong watched his performance with a half-smile.
"So, we have to go down there?" Fang Zong asked.
"Yes, we have to go down!" Hunter said nervously. "We'll go down together. There are lots of seaweed down there. We can use the seaweed to wrap the bodies up. There are also stones at the bottom of the lake. We can tie them up and weigh them down. No one will be able to find the bodies we killed!"
“Okay.” Fang Zong shrugged.
In fact, he was fairly willing to cooperate with what Hunter wanted to do.
First, we can confirm that this is an illusion. Second, just like in a game, you have to reach a certain point in the story before you can trigger the next part of the plot.
Fang Zong didn't want to spend too much time in the illusion. To be honest, Hunter's acting skills weren't very good.
Not much to see.
The oars glided through the water, the boat tilting slightly. Hunter steered the boat to the spot where the body had sunk, stowed the oars, and steadied the boat. He quickly stripped off his clothes, paused for a moment, and then plunged into the water.
Fang Zong watched as the naked man's ghost followed him down, then turned his head and smiled at the naked female ghost: "Would you go first or me?"
The naked female ghost: "..."
Fang Zong continued downwards, diving into the dark, icy lake, where lush aquatic plants grew on the bottom.
Strangely enough, Fang Zong could see things clearly again. He could see the water plants at the bottom of the dark lake, and the corpses floating among them.
The body lay half-lying, half-standing among the water plants, tilted by the buoyancy of the water. As Fang Zong swam toward it, it slowly swayed in the opposite direction.
The movement was astonishing, seemingly real yet unreal, and frightening...
Suddenly, Fang Zong's vision went completely black, and then his consciousness slowly returned. He sensed something was wrong, thought for a moment, and then surfaced.
Even stranger... it's already dawn?
It was nighttime, yet dawn had broken, and he wasn't in the middle of the lake, but rather on the edge of Blackwater Lake, just a few steps from which he could reach the shore. Fang Zong wasn't surprised; in an illusion, anything was possible.
"What's next?" Fang Zong asked as he walked ashore.
On the shore, Hunter sat atop a wooden stake, no longer putting on airs, a sinister grin spreading across his face.
"How do you think I'm still playing?"
He sneered, "You're already dead!"
Fang Zong remained calm.
Hunter laughed loudly, his face full of smugness.
"Did your vision go black just now? Actually, you were unconscious in the illusion and then returned to reality. A whole day has passed in reality. You were soaking in the water and would have drowned long ago! You thought I couldn't attack you and had no way to stop you? The water drowned you, you're already dead!"
"Please continue." Fang Zong raised his hand.
Keep making things up, I'd be a fool to believe you.
Fang Zong didn't believe a single word Hunter said.
Hunter continued, "The illusion I just saw was how I died. That adulterous couple thought that if I died without knowing why, I wouldn't become a ghost. But they still got caught by me. Fang, you're luckier than me. I'm willing to help you so you can die knowing why."
"Are you done talking?" Fang Zong asked.
Hunter: "..."
"Now that you've finished speaking, it's my turn."
Fang Zong smiled and said, "You want me to believe that I am dead and brain dead, but you have too many flaws. Putting aside everything else, even if I was unconscious just now and my body was threatened with death, wouldn't I have woken up automatically? You are a ghost. You underestimate the body's automatic instincts. Unless you are drugged, the probability of a human body waking up when faced with a death threat is almost 100%. I am a medical student and I believe this even more."
"You don't believe you're already dead?"
Hunter suddenly laughed and pointed to the lake.
Fang Zong looked over and saw two corpses floating on the lake. One had been decomposed for a long time and was unrecognizable. The other corpse was... himself!
Horror, horror!
What could be more terrifying than seeing your own corpse?
Hunter grinned maliciously at Fang Zong, even waving his hand, looking incredibly smug.
But Fang Zong laughed.
"You still don't believe me?" Hunter asked.
Fang Zong shrugged and remained silent.
"Well, time will tell."
Hunter smiled smugly, confident of victory.
Time passed slowly, and Hunter stared at the sky listlessly.
Fang Zong took a nap, and after waking up, he stretched, picked up a stone by the lake, weighed it in his hand, and walked towards the lake.
Hunter's eyes widened: "What do you want to do?"
Fang Zong turned around and said matter-of-factly, "Of course, it's whipping the corpse."
Hunter: "..."
Half a minute later, Fang Zong dragged Hunter's body up and smashed it to pieces with a stone.
This is... a complete loss of life!
Hunter gritted his teeth but did not stop him. At this moment, Fang Zong suddenly stopped, picked a thicker branch, broke it off, held it in his hand, and walked towards the house.
Hunter: "...What are you planning to do now?"
Fang Zong smiled slightly, and said with lingering satisfaction, "Whip your wife's corpse."
"You son of a bitch!" Hunter roared as soon as Fang Zong finished speaking, revealing his hideous face.
But he didn't stop him, watching Fang Zong's back with a sinister laugh.
Fang Zong entered the house. There was a sofa and coffee table in the living room, and a large bed in the bedroom. However, there was no naked woman's corpse. Instead, every place was covered in dust, as if no one had lived there for a long time.
It's as if this is reality, not an illusion.
It was as if everything was as Hunter had said, that he was already dead.
